Screen alignment loop

Hi everybody! Long time lurker, first time poster

I decided to jump into the Apache scene here so I purchased an xv6700 from Ebay for a pretty good price. The seller said the device was heavily used, but that was ok for me. I just got the device today and had a chance to play around with it. I hooked up the unit to the charger and let it charge for a few hours. I then powered on the unit and got to the "Screen Alignment" set up page.

Well, for the life of me I cannot get passed this page. I have tried everything from cleaning the edges with paper and compressed air and taping with the finest point I could find. Sadly I have had no luck in getting past this screen.

From the reset page it appears the device is running the 2.02 VZW rom. Is there anything I am doing wrong? I have contacted the seller because he did not mention this in the auction. But I really would like to start using this unit. Any help would be appreciated!

maybe the digitizer needs to be replaced
i had a similar problem but i just took to sprint and they gave me a refurb 6700 (i have TEP so the whole process was pretty easy)

its most likely a hardware problem and if you dont have insurance its gona get pretty expensive to fix

I bought this from Ebay. The seller said that is was a perfectly functioning unit and the only things wrong with it were just a few cosmetic scratches.

I sent him off a message, but I don't expect to hear anything back till tomorrow morning. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with an item I bought on ebay

It does sound like a digitizer issue. Digitizers aren't expensive, but the process of replacing them is rather tedious.

Yeah I'm familiar with the process. I did in on my old Tungsten E. I sent the guy I bought this from a message. Hopefully we can work this out.

I've been a week without a handheld I'm going through withdrawal.

the seller lied. Start the return process, let ebay know you were sent non-functional goods, and demand a refund.

Good luck!
