found it! ##778talk is the sequence....and you don't use the left softkey.....you choose DISPLAY and then modem settings.......on my gizmo anyway. And it does work.

Thanks fellas. Also, I did force the phone to 1x........no more back and forth.

try this...i got mines down to one ring following this instructions. EVDO has nothing to do with your phone calls being delayed for the phone to sense them. I set mines to Sero (i'm on sprint).

If you flash your phone, you can also include an app called "phone codes" in the kitchen, which will give you all possible programable codes shortcuts under Programs. let me know if this helps.

What setting do you change to force the phone to 1x? For some reason whenever I am in EVDO mode I cannot do a data connection, however in 1X i am able to make a data connection.

If you really want to force 1x....then check:
Phone/menu/option/service/scroll down to see if you have the "Mode of Operation" if you dont....then you need to do the hack.

Edit at own Risk!!!!

HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting

Change the option HiddenPreferenceMode from 1 to 0

Then go to Phone/menu/option/service/and check in the list, "Mode of Operation" should be at the bottom. You have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO, and 1X.
Once you have checked the box and hit ok, you will need to reboot, and then the phone should switch to 1x only.
