I have the TomTom 910, and it works fine. I even connected to the weather/traffic/software updates options. The only feature that does not work, is sending/receiving txt messages through the GPS.
One thing, I had to make a custom rom in order for it to work. I had to include the old wmodem drivers and the newer internet sharing stuff for it to use the data connection on the phone for updates.

If you are using one of the ROMs from this site them you are probably OK. With the older vzw roms most of the bluetooth services are locked down. But if you load the vzw 3.3 or one of the wm6 roms from here you will have a2dp and handsfree. Just watch out for the 2.05 bootloader in the 3.3 vzw rom, as it will prevent you from using any of the roms on this site.
I use tomtom pda, with a serial bluetooth oncourse gps on a verizon xv6700 and I have no problems. |

Thanks Guys! I've been flipping between VerizonGuy's WM6 and the UTC Upgrade WM5. This may force me to stabilize on an environment.
Question: For the traffic updates, do you have to subscribe to a service, or does the TomTom simply request the data from the phone? I have the unlimited data package from Verizon, so I'm hoping I don't have to pay anything else for data! Thanks again, -PH |

The TomTom plus services are free on the 910, I'm assuming the same goes for the 720, but I'm not sure. On the 910, you just need a phone w/ data capabilities.
As cyberfreak pointed out, vzw 3.3 and WM6 have a2dp and handsfree. I have not tried either of those roms with the TomTom. If those work, and you're happy w/ those rom's, you're all set. If you're using your own cooked rom's, you need to make sure you've included the OEM "Optional_WModem". If you are using rom's cooked by someone else, more than likely this is not included. From what I've seen, the custom roms mostly prefer the newer Internet Sharing app and have BT Pan. For the TomTom to connect, you need BT DUN from the wmodem app. When I cook up a rom, I include the newer internet sharing (which I prefer) and the wmodem, which allows my phone to connect to the 910, and just to be safe, I add the additional Cambridge BT profiles OEM from BigJ, that way I have a bunch of BT options covered. The tomtom will not figure out how to use you're phone's data the first time, but there is an option to setup the tomtom manually for data calls. Once you do it, it automatically connects to the phones data options. |

OK-
Took some serious digging on my part because I was looking in tons of other forums except this one. I've had this discussion before regarding the TomTom 910. I found it in this thread - Helmi Official AKU 3.5 Kitchen 1.0.2 Bugs / Patches post #185 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=185 I added the wmodem OEM based on luv2chill's suggestion. I listed the settings I had for manual setup as well. |

The Good News: I can bluetooth and use the TomTom to make and answer calls hands free! The TomTom even sucked down my directory so making calls is a breeze! The Bad News: I can't seem to figure out how to get the weather/traffic updates to work between the Apache and the TomTom. Does this mean I need a different a2dp? I do see a "bta2dp" in my \Windows directory. It looks to be 51.50 KB (52,736 bytes). Any tips would really be appreciated! Thanks, -PH |

On Phone, dial ##3328873 Enter Code 000000 Click Edit Select, edit, and enable BT DUN Do I need to do this if I'm running Verizon Guys WM6 Dev-4 rom? Please let me know where this has been detailed. I would love to get my Apache to pass traffic info to the TomTom. Alas, I don't see many ways to configure the TomTom - it can just discover the functionality provided by the phone. Thanks, -PH |

Okay - So I had some hack time this weekend - I think I'm getting close - but still no joy.
I loaded the AKU3 bits from Verizion/UTC (APA_Verizon_31430_314208_14300_WWE_Ship_2.exe) onto my Apache. It was a downgrade, since I had been running the VerizonGuy Build 4. But I'll do anything to get the data interface to my Tomtom working! I also did the ##FEATURE trick and enabled both BT DUN and WMODEM. Now the Tomtom and 6700 don't have any problems pairing and exchaning directory and/or making calls (the hands free speaker phone works GREAT!) but I still can't get the data interface to work. If I use the parameters listed above, i.e. Username: mobile#@vzw3g.com (your 10-digit number) Password: vzw DHCP-auto and DNS-auto Number to dial #777 Logon Script left blank. It fails when it tries to connect. I'm so close - I'm sure someone out there has the fix I need. Should I go back to Verizion Guy #4 or the Helmi build and enable some other feature? Thanks for helping, -PH |

I tried connecting to the TomTom Plus services yesterday.
This was the first attempt w/ WM6, and I could not get it to connect. I'll try more later, but I don't see what else I can do to make it work in WM6. Your settings are the same as what I use, and it worked fine in WM5. When it worked, I paired the phone, and it found that the "DUN" feature was available, and I was prompted to setup. I going to try some more today. Even though I don't normally use the plus features, it bugs me that I can't figure it out. |
