The TomTom plus services are free on the 910, I'm assuming the same goes for the 720, but I'm not sure. On the 910, you just need a phone w/ data capabilities.
As cyberfreak pointed out, vzw 3.3 and WM6 have a2dp and handsfree. I have not tried either of those roms with the TomTom. If those work, and you're happy w/ those rom's, you're all set.
If you're using your own cooked rom's, you need to make sure you've included the OEM "Optional_WModem".
If you are using rom's cooked by someone else, more than likely this is not included.
From what I've seen, the custom roms mostly prefer the newer Internet Sharing app and have BT Pan.
For the TomTom to connect, you need BT DUN from the wmodem app.
When I cook up a rom, I include the newer internet sharing (which I prefer) and the wmodem, which allows my phone to connect to the 910, and just to be safe, I add the additional Cambridge BT profiles OEM from BigJ, that way I have a bunch of BT options covered.
The tomtom will not figure out how to use you're phone's data the first time, but there is an option to setup the tomtom manually for data calls. Once you do it, it automatically connects to the phones data options.
