Rob, might we see B7 by this weekend? I am itching to install an update to my B4, and don't want to do B6 and then B7
Thanks! |

Whenever I run the Verizon version I get a message that the RUU has stopped responding and needs to close and then it closes. I'm using Vista and I've updated all of the files in device manager as previously described because on my first attempt it gave me the error message that another user got that it was not for their device and then after that it bricked. Now, it starts I beleive step 3 and has to stop. I have redownloaded it several times.

i am considering coming back to this build because of battery drain issue's in helmi's new kitchen release. but does this version suffer the battery drain problem as well now? seems it has taken on the new helmi build as a base. i didnt want to read 33 pages to find out... so i dont know if this was already discussed.
|
I also tried it in XP and got the same error: the RUU had stopped unexpectedly. Then, I tried Helmi_C's kitchen on both XP and vista and at the same step it gave me a "data device error - cannt retrieve data from device" any thoughts?

I'll figure it out." Is there something else I am missing? That basically says they aren't sure what the deal is but they will figure it out. I am sure they will, but my battery needs less drain in the meantime. |

Cannot find server
Trying to download the one for Sprint but I get "cannot find server"
|
I got it, will run and test tomorrow.
|
downloading build 7 right now -- i haven't pulled the trigger on any of these builds yet, but watch this thread everyday . . . trying to weigh the benefits of wm6 with my helmi_c/kirvin 3.5 kitchen-built ROM -- it's so stable, i'm nervous about upgrading . .. any thoughts
|
Still can't download it
Oh man, am I really that dumb? I can't download it, both from my pc & from my ppc. Keeps saying "cannot find server". I'm trying to download the one for Sprint on the first page of this post http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9841
What am I missing (aside from a few brain cells) LOL |
It's from Rapidshare, if you get there click the free link.
Do you have an ad blocker that could be stopping you from getting there? I'm a bit apprehensive too, I went back to Kirvin's C&S after a problem, and the WM5 has been smooth. Really want to try this one, though. |
I've never had a problem downloading anything from Rapidshare before. :(
Even tried it from my phone and it was a no go. Guess I'll have to wait until I get home and try it. I figure there's no harm in trying. Have heard good things about Robmayer's ROM, so I wanna try it out for myself. If it doesn't work, I can always reflash to Helmi's. At least that's what I keep repeating to myself hehehe |
Rob,
I am about to pull the trigger on the B7 as I've been waiting like a good boy for it. A few questions... I installed your B4 "stock Sprint" for exactly that reason, it was stock. Storage space on the 6700 is so limited that I need to be really careful of what I put on. Your B4 build was light, kinda sluggish, but light, and that's what was good about it. My only concerns for B7 are the addition of the following programs: Slidesound PHM Notepad GSFinder+ PIM Backup HTC Performance File Dialog Changer v1.66 File Extensions Changer Exactly how much space do these programs that I mentioned above occupy on the ROM? Ideally I'd want a ROM that didn't have those, but that's just my opinion. I'd rather add them later if I saw value of them... I am happy with any other mods you have done, like adding vista sounds, new HTC home, reg hacks, tweaks, etc. I am sure the ROM is probably fantastic, but I'm just wondering how much free space I'll have if I move forward with B7. This is really important to me... Thanks! |
BlueTooth and MSVC
Rob I was wondering if you can tell me what I need to do to get more volume out of my earpiece. I have seen a lot of stuff about registry tweaks and downloads that say it corrects it. I just was not sure what you would recommend when running your ROM. Thanks for your help. I have had absolutely no problems with this rom. Thanks for the time you spend on this stuff.

That's why the ROM kitchen is ideal for the Apache... it lets you build in the programs you like into the ROM itself, saving your valuable program storage partition for user data and/or additional applications. But in any case, these extra programs Rob added don't affect your usable storage space at all. They are simply taking up space that would otherwise be wasted on your device. Hope that helps. |
luv2chill,
That was the answer I was looking for :) Thanks... Rob, please disregard my last post, I am good to go for the upgrade, thanks again! Quote:

I have the Verizon XV6700 with bootloader 1.04 and have not yet been able to install a sucessful one of these versions from the kitchen or one of the Rob versions. Every time I try, the RUU stops and my computer displays the message :the RUU has stopped unexpectedly. I am using a vista machine and U have the updated drivers referred to in : http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=7049. I have also tried this procedure with the same results on an XP machine. What am I doing wrong????

Quick Question
Okay, I was finally able to download the file. When I unzipped it, it had a few .exe file & a NBF (?) file.
My question is: after hard reset, soft reset @ Customization screen, put phone in bootloader mode, hook up to the USB....which exe file do I run? I know it may seem like a stupid question, but I'm very much a newbie and I thought it's safer to ask than assume. :) Hope I can get a reply soon so I can flash over to this tonight when I get home. Thanks! |

Glad you got this downloaded (looks like you were starting from an old thread, not this one.) You will execute the APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe. Good luck. tmb |

Clean, No Junk???
I just finished installing B7 and I'm playing awith the software, one thing that made Rob to stand out from the crowd was the Clear, No Junk roms, "Stock" roms of WM6 superfast and to the point. Just as you walk away from the cell store with your new shiny device.
Unfortunately the Roms are getting more tweaked and "stuffed" with different software now, I understand that there is so much space wasted in the Stock Roms, but it will be possible to get a B7 build "just" Clean like the first ones Rob made?, from B2 to B4 the battery was great, 1 1/2 day of heavy use without charging, for me that is better that whatever software you can add to the Roms. Please Rob, made a B7.1 clean for us to download :o) |
Anyone from Sprint install this yet? Just waiting to read at least one report!
|
awesome job!
Thanks for all the work on this, my 6700 now has more functionality than my 6800! One question, in the extended rom where is the cab for the arcsoft mms composer? I want to extrract it and run it on the 6800 (the 3.0.6.22 version does not work for me!)
Thanks again! |
working on cellular south
installed the generic version on cellular south. everythign seems to be working fine. I need a way to add the camera back, does anyone have an easy way to do this? Maybe a cab in the extended rom??
|
fabrijack, you're saying the stock HTC camera app is not included?

no camera app at all. I found this online a few minutes ago. installing now to try it out
http://www.ateksoft.com/ |
yea, i also use coolcamera, but it has its tradeoffs with the stock app. I can't always get it to work right...
Rob, I'd like to see the latest HTC camera app as part of the ROM, don't know why it was not included as it seems "stock" I kinda agree with what aguaron said in post 349. Clean is what lots of people like. While we value the fact you put in some apps, a lot of us just want a rom with no "extra software" even if it does not use up any of "our" program space as luv2chill indicated I think your reg hack and tweaks are welcome and desired. We NEED those enhacements VOIP support, working arrows for data connection, "documents" shortcut, vista sounds, all those things are great and i want them But I for example won't touch GSFinder+ as I love resco, so for me and others it could be a waste (not of program space), but yea we could always delete the shortcut, but why have to if its not there in the first place... I might wait until B7.1 also, but I'd like to hear what others say also... Quote:

For those missing the stock camera...
|
Thanks for the htc camera cab. It installs on the phone but doesn't install shortcuts anywhere. The only way I can find to open it is go thru the album and click on the camera button at the bottom left. Can anyone tell me where to look for the start file and how to create a shortcut in my programs folder?
thank you all for being patient with a newbie!! Jack |
The HTC Camera app is there, although I did forget to put it in the programs folder I believe it is linked to the camera button on the bottom right.
|
I found it in the programs folder under windows. How do I add the shortcut to a visible menu somewhere? I've tried copying and pasting the shortcut in the windows folder but the system doesn't recognize it. Thanks for all your great work. I'm really enjoying playing around with the new os. puts new life in my device!

I have another question if ya'll don't mind. How do I re-lock the extended rom? My device names it extended rom but treats it as a storage card. I have a problem with my email and now the camera wanting to save to it instead of my actual storage card.
