OK I've brought this thread back minus the unpleasantness that derailed it. I hope Rob will continue to build ROMs for people--there's obviously still a need here for people that prefer to use a pre-made ROM instead of building their own.

But let's keep the 6700-related support here at PPCGeeks where it can benefit everyone. The fact that we all share information here and help each other out (while at the same time giving credit where it's due) is what makes this community so great.

Druu 11-09-2007 07:28 PM

Woot its back! I must say, despite the drama, Robs rom has been the most stable and quickest I've ever used. I'm on version 4 and don't even want to upgrade because its working so well.

hypeo 11-09-2007 08:13 PM

Same here.. I'm waiting to play with B7. I can't wait to try out the new wm6 from helmi_c with a clean version from Rob!! Good work Rob.. I enjoy playing with your roms..

hypeo 11-09-2007 08:33 PM

When are you unveiling B7??

luv2chill,

I think this is a good decision. Despite the superhuman efforts you and the others have made with this kitchen and the support of it, there will always be those who are nervous about cooking their own ROMs, or have other reasons for wanting a pre-built one.

I myself have been in that category for some time. It's only after flashing a lot of ROMs from other people that I became willing to try to make one myself. And I may still go back to the C&S pre-built type.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm glad that the powers that be and Rob seem to have come to an understanding, and I hope that this forum can continue to support the efforts of people like you, helmi, ggurusa, tiermann, vg, etc. and the efforts of people like robmayer.

Thanks to all of you for all the hard work that you do.

gcode_81 11-09-2007 10:01 PM

after reading why the robmayer thread was hidden i was about to dump my robmayer build6 rom because of the loyalty to ppcgeeks. good thing i didnt dump my rom because i enjoy it a lot and my battery doesnt drain fast like the others do.

daveedem 11-09-2007 11:21 PM

slightly off topic --- I've had a few private convo's with Rob and see both sides of the coin.

I'm glad you guys have worked things out and have restored this thread sans the negative stuff.

Good stuff AND support here.

Catman51 11-09-2007 11:31 PM

I for one, being a complete not knowing what I'm doing type, am glad to see this back!
I really need someone to do the tech stuff for me. Thank you.

GameDoctor 11-10-2007 07:18 PM

Welcome back! Time to let the Chef get back to cooking :headbang:

aguaron 11-10-2007 10:28 PM

Is Back!!

I'm glad this Thread is back, after cooking 6-7 different roms with the new WM6 kitchen, I had to go back to robmayer B6, battery is fantastic and no lock ups! any clue when we will see the new b7 with the new wm6 version?

2ndchance 11-11-2007 01:12 AM

Hi all. I must be blind, but I don't see a link to download the Junk-Free version for Sprint. Did I miss something?? I thought I'd give WM6 one more try before I consider upgrading to the Mogul.

hlouie 11-11-2007 01:17 AM

Apache WM6 Clean, No Junk Version

Question where can I download the "Apache WM6 Clean, No Junk Version"? I do understand there is the New Kitchen but I really like the "Apache WM6 Clean, No Junk Version"

nyc_medic 11-11-2007 01:37 AM

Where is the link?

I thought i was moving in the slow lane by not being able to see the link. ](*,)

rxb216 11-11-2007 02:16 AM

i dont think rob has uploaded his roms to the ppcgeeks ftp site yet, we're all waiting for this, and looking forward to his Build 7

robmayer 11-11-2007 10:36 AM

Hi all,

First, thank you for all of the support posts you have been posting in the last two days or so.
Second, this is not by any means guiding people way from here... but the already released builds of my clean Apache WM6 are still in the download section of my site. Build 7 and future releases will be kept on here.
I simply just do not have the time or the patience to transfer 500+ MB of roms from ftp to ftp. So for the last time, the link for all roms build 6 and older are still in the downloads section at 6700development.com

richjolliff 11-11-2007 08:09 PM

Rob,
in version 6 you have a message center on the Today screen. When I click on voicemail it asks me if I want to connect, I click yes and then it dials *68 which does not connect to my voicemail. Is there a way to fix this in the registry?

Should be able to fix it by going to Start -> Setting -> Phone -> and then changing *68 in the voicemail setting to *86. Not quite sure why it would be *68 though.
Anyway, nice plugin isn't it? Thank Verizonguy for that one... it was in his latest kitchen before Helmi released the official one.

daveedem 11-11-2007 11:57 PM

How do you want all the resco stuff? I have it installed. you want all the reg entries?

I did the setting change, but it still said it was not a valid code, I am using sprint. Changed the number back, and it works great now. The code must be for sprint phones only? Thanks for the great builds. Used 4, and now 6. Probably won't change to 7 because 6 is so stable, and it takes all day for me to upgrade.

sandwichfighter 11-12-2007 09:07 AM

Freeze

I know this isn't specific to your build but are you also getting an occasional freeze up after a reboot? I have plaxo so all my stuff gets saved but still... Thanks again! Great build.

Oh yeah I'm sorry, I was thinking Verizon... wasn't sure if there was any diifference in codes there. Glad you got it working though.

I have never experienced freezes on reboot unless the HTC Home weather plugin in enabled to auto sync. Maybe that is it, check to see if it's enabled.

Everyone... sorry for the delay... build 7 is coming, I've just been really busy lately.

ND4SPD 11-12-2007 09:20 PM

I have been having the same issue... it's not on every reset. But it's happened 3 times since Rev 3 to me. Okay where are the settings for the HTC Home Weather... cuz I can't find it to disable auto sync.

I'm having issues trying to install the latest Verizon version ffrom 6700development.com. I run APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe and put it in bootloader mode and plug it in, it goes to USB on the screen, but when I click next, the current and updated version info are empty and then I get ERROR 150: ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR and it says this ROM upgrade utility is not designed for my device. Anyone have any suggestions on whether I'm doing anything wrong here? Thanks in advance!

robmayer - Which version of the WM6 kitchen did you use for this?

Is it the latest Apache Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) ?

You probably have bootloader v. 2.05 from the latest official Verizon update. Search the forums for "bootloader 2.05" and there is a good thread about it somewhere.

Yep, latest... 5.2.1908. This should also take care of some issues you guys are having that I personally was not able to fix in my other builds. Good thing Helmi was still feeling generous towards us Apache users...

mtheory101 11-13-2007 11:41 AM

Pardon me for being a noob but I can't find the links to this ROM anywhere in the the thread. The first post doesn't contain any links that I can see. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks robmayer...I can't wait to get involved and start working with this stuff...

I asked for help over in the Bootloader downgrade sticky and they advised I use Rob's nk.nbf with the kitchen's upgrade program (I don't know the actual term for what it is) and when I run it that way, I get Error 120: Country ID Error. Any suggestions on what's wrong or if I did something wrong? Thanks!

Make sure you are using it with the kitchens 2.05 bootloader RUU. The kitchen has three different RUU's... The typical one that comes with all Apache official upreades, the No-ID RUU, and the bootloader 2.04/2.05 RUU.
I may be partially incorrect, but I know there is a 2.05 RUU in there at least.. I think.

zentor 11-13-2007 09:31 PM

HTC's audio player works so much better with the Bluetooth device in my car. Is there a way to change the HTC Launch Music Player back to Audio Manager? Or is there a plugin to fix WMP so it doesnt skip so bad. I doubt there is a way to have Audio Manager respond to MS Voice Command, but it would be really cool if that was a possibility.

Druu 11-13-2007 11:29 PM

I'm not sure if this was brought up, but is there an HTC home customizer that works with the built in HTC home? It doesn't seem to recognize it. Thanks!

bytemyfoot 11-13-2007 11:43 PM

Ok, I just tried all 3 of the upgrade programs and none of them will work:

NewBootloader_RUU gives me Error 120: Country ID Error
NoID_RUU gives me Error 150: ROM Upgrade Utility Error
RUU gives me Error 201: Get Device Data Error.

Any suggestions?!

Edit: It turns out I have bootloader 1.04, not the new 2.05 or anything, so I don't know if that changes anything.

Are you trying to upgrade on vista? That never works :P.

Nope, just XP

1.04 is part of the trio of "new bootloaders" (along with 2.04 and 2.05)--thus necessitating use of the NewBootloader_RUU. The other two will not work for you.

The error that app gave you indicates that the ROM you tried to flash was not encoded for the carrier matching the one printed on your phone.

Hmm, I tried Build 6 for VZW and Generic as well as Build 5, and all 3 got the country code error (I do use VZW, by the way). Has anyone else had a problem with this or am I the only one?

I have been attempting to update to sar_AKU3.5+_pr6 and continue to get the country code error as well not sure of any resolution yet

Actually Vista works... thanks to Luv2Chill for his post about updating to the latest WMDC 6.1 -- that takes care of it.

Also you may need to use a different USB port. gervy pointed out that the splendid programming of MS sometimes screws up the drivers, so a reinstall of WMDC usually fixes that too.

I've not had any problems flashing since up'ing to the new MC.
