Robmayer,
I have come upong a big problem for me... the voicedialer is gone! Any help? I LOVED this feature of my 6700 prior to using your program. Also, it seems to take forever to log on to the internet service. Any thoughts?

Yup... hasn't updated in days.

Well, it's not just the failure to update the OS... they also block GPS on the 6800, thereby limiting the functionability of many of the apps you can get for either phone. If Sprint can bill you for it, they will. I've been with them for about 4 years & am seriously considering dropping them for a carrier that isn't so cheap.

If you look/search through this thread, you'll find the registry entry that you need to delete in order to get the weather to update.

I'm sorry for not finding it for you, but I'm short on time and looking for something else.

Your complaining about issues that every carrier has with these phones, so I don't think it's a Sprint issue. In fact, I'd argue quite the opposite - Sprint has come out with functionality updates before the other carriers, GPS activation for the 6800 being an excellent example. Every carrier will try to nickle and dime you to death. It's the way the industry is right now.

ATTN: To everyone that has not used the WM6.1 kitchen, I urge you to give it a try. The kitchen crew did a wonderful job and it's just simply awesome, especially WM6.1, I thought it was a big improvement. Anyway, what I may be doing is releasing some OEMs/Modules of all the stuff I normally add into my ROMs. ggurru is right though, pre-made ROMs are becoming "obsolete" because the potential of the kitchen has so much more to offer.
However, for the very few that don't have time to mess around with the kitchen or maybe have had problems in the past, ect. I may be releasing a very simple WM6.1 ROM only if one day you all will give the kitchen a try.
The kitchen is simple, follow the steps below and I promise that you all will have a great ROM.

1.) Download BuildOS www.PPCKitchen.org
2.) Install BuildOS
3.) Run Updater
4.) Install the WM6.1 kitchen and PPCGeeks_OEM at the very least.
5.) Launch BuildOS
6.) Login (username and psswrd of your choice)
7.) Select the helmi wm6.1 default selections.txt
8.) Select your Carrier, bootloader, RUU, bootscreen, programs, ect.
9.) Press the green play button to start the build process (Upper left)
10) You will know when you are almost done because the RUU will pop up in your face, and unless you are using a Vista PC not set up properly for Syncing, you know what to do from here...

Thanks to everyone that put so much hard work and effort into this, you guys did a wonderful job!

There is presently a problem w/ kitchen activation for some international users. I should have a resolution yet still this morning.

Edit: Fixed. I'll have the patch files up shortly.

Rob, as you know (i think!) i have your rom on my 6700, but i've been asking what the difference is with the new 6.1, I'm not asking anymore. if you recommend it so highly i have no further questions and am in the process of downloading it right now. I had the 6.0 then went to yours after some problems with it and i have total confidence in your opinion. If you say go for it, I'm going!

This build is so great. I contemplated downloading a 6.1 version and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. There are a few things about the rom version 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) that made me love my phone even more.
1 Sprint finally gave me a better deal on having internet on my PPC 6700 so I use my phone, connected to my laptop via usb, to connect to the net and i love it. 2. I love the PIM backup, I have been hoping for this since I purchased my 6700 the day of it's debut. 3. Microsoft office no longer stops working and errors just because. 4. and when re-starting, my phone, it is no longer at risk of not starting up completely and I have to do a hard reset 5. The Audio BT is great, I'm not a fan of wires so using my ear piece is wonderful...AND I'M SPENT!

Delete the following registry entry and you should be good to go:

HKLM/comm/tcpip/hosts/htc.accuweather.com

I have to agree...I was thinking about upgrading to 6.1 but then I would loose all of these great programs that came with Rob's 6.0. To me its just not worth it.

No. All of those "great programs" are in the 6.0 and 6.1 kitchens, along with a lot more. In fact, trying to decide which programs to include and which to exclude is the hardest thing about the kitchen, as there isn't room for all of them in a ROM.

You might try asking Rob to make a 6.1 ROM kit for the kitchen - then you could easily build 6.0 or 6.1 flavors.

I would love it if Rob did a 6.1. I'm somewhat Technical, but not too.
I like the clean and no junk version Rob has done and can only hope he'll update it.

Aside from Vista issues, there's nothing technical about it.

Re: Apache WM6 Clean, No Junk Version

Well, from other posts, it looks as if 6.1 is a battery drainer, so will stay where I am for now.

gguruusa 03-20-2008 01:37 PM

Re: Apache WM6 Clean, No Junk Version

no more of a drainer than prior versions. People w/ battery issues are doing stuff that causes their drain.

Re: Apache WM6 Clean, No Junk Version

Rob, I downloaded the kitchen, tried to create a ROM (6.1) myself (technically challenged), screwed my phone, re-imaged with your original ROM (6.0). I re-created another ROM (6.1) , screwed my phone, re-imaged to (6.0).](*,)

I'm awaiting your 6.1 Clean ROM if you please...

or

If you have a nice walkthrough with apps from your ROM 6.0...jcaraba@gmail.com!!!

Okay, I have been reading posts for days now:) There are a lot! I am mostly a newbie and have been contemplating upgrading to the Mogul and then though maybe I would just revamp my current phone. I am on Sprint. I just want some help figuring out what I am doing wrong and why I can't get my phone to upgrade to WM6. I followed the directions that Rob posted on page 6 but I do have some questions... Here is what I am doing....I put my phone in bootloader mode and then plug it into my computer via usb. I run the app to upgrade it... it does not tell me anything about my phone before it upgrades. It is blank there...It tells me it is finished and then I need to hard reset.. then that lovely question comes up with Y or N ... (I am not certain which one to choose - sorry everyone... did I mention I was a newbie). Anyways, I have tried numerous times and it comes back cleaned out... but no WM6. I am embarr***** even to post this question (seems like I have written a novel)... and if it was answered in one of the other 67 pages... sorry! I got tired of reading... Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks all....](*,)

I put the 6700 into boot mode and when I run the exe file, I end up with an ERROR 150: ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR. It says: This ROM UPGRADE UTILITY is not designed for your device. Please get the proper ROM upgrade Utility and try again!
I currently am running wb 6.1 and the bootloader is 2.05
