Sure, go with the bare-bones kitchen - if you can stand wasting all that space....

You want stock or C&S? Either way, the kitchen is the answer. For stock, use the default kitchen settings. For C&S, uncheck everything but your carrier selection.

I heard from user "spetrillo" that the latest kitchen (from 12/17/07) fixed some sound skipping issues with SDHC, and I can see the from 071117_1 changelog that "Block transfer size for SD and MMC classes down to 20 from 40 to prevent music skipping".

I want to know that if I install the SDHC.777.cab file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328330

then how can I manually change the Block transfer size down to 20?
Is this a registry edit or are the actual drivers different?
Is there a newer SDHC cab file that has the latest drivers that reflect the smaller block transfer size?
OR does someone like me absolutely HAVE to cook a new ROM (based on the latest kitchen) and then include SDHC support from there?

It would be a lot simpler for me if I can just install the SDHC CAB file and then change the block size myself, (or if the lower block size is in the newer driver file itself, then I would want the newer driver)

I can see that there is a place in the registry here: HKLM/drivers/sdcard/clientdrivers/class
and
I can see that there is MMC_Class and SDMemory_Class, and I “think” that I would change both of these to 20. I also think that the required value of “20” is in hexadecimal, and not base 10. Sounds right?

If you really want to maximize your phone to it's full potential, try the kitchen. It's hard to beat a custom ROM designed just for You.
This is not a cult, meaning these ROMs or this thread. Because you are so focused and relentless regarding changing the mindset of people that you don't even know, I'm removing the download links to the ROM(s) on this thread. That way everyone will see the light and be drawn to the kitchen, and all the "cult" members can fill up your PM mailbox bitching to you about why you had to ruin it for the others. Some people just want a ROM gguru, not everyone wants to f**k with a kitchen.

Dave, agreed.

Back in the day (as I've heard) there were many many people that cooked and released ROMs: kirvin, colonel, phonix, and countless others. Rob's probably the only one doing WM6 builds publically for the Apache, so I too am glad that someone is cooking WM6 ROMs and releasing them. And at least I can ping Rob with a question here and there, as he should be asked since it's "his" ROM. I've noticed that some moderators kinda get upset if one asks for support if they are using a C&S ROM, so I think its best to direct questions to the cook himself...

I just hope that when I finally have to upgrade from my PPC-6700, that Rob will be able to work on the PPC-6800. Otherwise, I might just have to stay with my PPC-6700 forever since Rob has made this so amazingly stable and productive.

Thank you again Rob for this rom. You have brought all PPC 6700 owners to state of the art and have maximized this phone to its full potential! Sprint QA needs to take lessons from you on how to make a stable rom.

Rob Great Advice....That way everyone will see the light and be drawn to the kitchen, and all the "cult" members can fill up your PM mailbox bitching to you

Here is a copy of my PM to gguruusa thought it would be good for all to see.

As Rob said ....."This is not a cult, meaning these ROMs or this thread. I've tried all the rom's and the kitchens with no luck read all the instructions but just couldn't cook. Left ppcgeeks (experts) went to a reliance rom from India and came back to use Rob's rom. His is the only WM6 Rom to include transcriber that I've found. I've decided that the so called experts that leave out the best part of this phone (transcriber) are the ignorant ones not those of us that can't cook in the kitchen. Now your actions have caused my loss of continued Rom's.

I wonder who said this.. PPCKitchen.org is dedicated to putting out free easy-to-use solutions for end users who wish to update or customize the software on their Windows Mobile phones.

Isn't this what Rob is doing? Helping people with easy to use Rom's or is this still about someone not getting the proper attention that their micro ego needed which is all anyone whines about.

I Don't Hide Behind a User Name! If you can't figure out my user name it is spelled out clearly in my signature.

Rob:
Thank You for being truly dedicated to putting out free easy-to-use solutions for end users who wish to update or customize the software on their Windows Mobile phones.

Sorry once again that some child has been playing with their parents computer because I thought only adults used these forums. I must be wrong. You can count me as one of the less fortunate people that relied on your Rom's. We can all experience your frustration because of the micro ego's of the chosen few.

Thank You for All that You have Done for Me and making my phone enjoyable.
Maybe this is a sign for you to focus on your new family and business.

Don't be bothered by these little people whose life consists of these forums and nothing more. Enjoy The Best Days of Your Life! Blessings to You, your Wife and Fatherhood! Being a great husband and father is where your will see your greatest return on your true investment.

Rob has saved many Apache Arse's including mine by enabling fast upgrades, with a stable, and potent ROM. Make no mistake, the kitchen and Helmi's efforts deserve all the credit for making this possible and an obsoleted device state-of-the-art.

But for god's sake, don't throw someone under the bus for trying to make it easier for others who haven't spent enough time in the kitchen.

My there are some sensitive people here.

The original post was so full of wide-eyed awe and pandering as to be easily associated with cult-like behaviour. If you didn't recognize how over the top the original post was, you need to put down the Kool-Aid.

Explain how I threw Rob under the bus. I don't see it.

JTSV - Why would anyone care what your name is?

BTW, no one get's upset when questions get posted about C&S roms. You get pushed back to the ROM developer because that's where you are going to get an answer - no on else want's to take the time to figure out what the developer has modified when the developer already knows what he modified. Furthermore, the developer needs to be aware of any issues so he might fix them for his next ROM. The developers thread is also the best place to look for a solution by other users.

Rob,
Please don't stop the your roms due to a few idiots. Please put them somewhere where the schmucks can't get them, but please bring them back.
I'm no expert, but what you've created works perfectly for me! Thank you

I think the ROM links will be back soon enough. In my "narrow vision" (as an unnamed moderator) put it, I still see the majority of ppcgeeks people as non-kitchen users (who really don't post that much). They are happy with the ROM they get and it's just that. It's better than the last official Sprint/Verizon release, and its better than most of the tweaked/cooked aku 3.5 WM5 ROMs. Rob's ROM users dont need to "tweak" the hell out of their device like most kitchen people like to do. Rob is giving us a blank phone with a decent amount of free space for us to do as we will. He's made some fixes, regedits, and other changes. Some may think of his work as small, and others as big. I really dont care, as long as I get somthing cooked and that basically works.

I'll even take it a step further to say that I think most people on this site (who don't post but are registered) would rather have cooked ROMs rather than a kitchen that they'd have to spend time learning (even if its not that hard to learn the kitchen).

We all can indeed see that there are far less cooked (and advertised) WM6 ROMs out there, to this statement I could agree with gguru that perhaps the trend is towards cooking your own ROM, but there still 60 pages in this thread and pleanty of noob people that like C&S (present company included).
