WMA issues

Obligatory thanks to the community that has made my ppc into an actual INVESTMENT. Now, I flashed to this rom a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier, but wmp will only play the first 3 seconds of wma and mp3s. TCPMP says this is not an iincluded codec. is anyone else having this problem? Please tell me there's a simple fix! I have no qualms about messin with registry values.
Thanks everyone.
/Loves this rom.

MMS Status

First off, thanks to helmi, rob, and the many others that have contributed to this amazing project. I have done extensive reading and searching and am ready to take the plunge using rob's no junk ROM. I just want to confirm that MMS still does not work. From searching in other threads, sending/recieving MMS seems to be a universal problem with WM6 on Apache, correct? Thanks!

My MMS works without a hitch. I haven't done any tweaking but to install Rob's ROM.

Does anyone have a the "FILTERFS" in the file explorer?
The only thing that kills me about that is when the audio
manager looks for music, it duplicates the music.

Touchflo? Programs -> accessories ... States its running...
I dont see it.

Thanks for all the hard work.... From everyone .... For truly
taking a rock in the rough and polishing to a fine jem.

Thanks everyone for pitching in!

For some reason whenever I dial the number one on the phone my screen goes to my Good software contacts. I have looked all over for a setting to fix this and can't find anything. Anyone know how to fix this?

Issachar 01-03-2008 03:20 PM

Hi all,

Thanks for this great community and the authors of this software!

I'm having a bit of an issue with the weather feature. It appears I cannot download the weather for San Francisco. I would imagine I should be able to get the weather for such a large city, so I'm guessing there's something wrong with the software or my phone. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

(If I read it right, it's a hosts entry that you need to delete).

Thanks again for a great ROM.

Argh, sorry, didn't know you could use the search function in Threads! That said, does anyone know how I can go about finding this registry and deleting it?

Thanks!

Hello everyone,I haven't been around for a while however I do have some good news for my ROM users, and that is I will be releasing build 8 soon.I know that I mentioned a 100% stock ROM a few posts ago however I decided not to go for it. The HTC Home plugin, Audio Manager, MMS, ect. are just to big to install into program memory afterwards, so I kept them in the ROM. So what I did do in build 8 is re-standardized the directory structure, removed some 3rd party apps, fixed the HTC Home weather issue, fixed slow scrolling in PIE, returned the dialer to WM6 stock, added new sounds and changed default sounds, and more. I also gave it a 6mb pagepool, and this will give you a little more program memory.Anyway, it is still in testing and I will release it as soon as I can. Thank you all for your support!

Issachar 01-03-2008 06:24 PM

Awesome, thanks again for the great product.

Using Rosco's Registry Editor, I deleted the following file from my PPC:

HKLM/comm/tcpip/hosts/htc.accuweather.com

However, I am still unable to download any weather data. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks!

hehe - that's not much of a title to claim. It's the _only_ WM6 ROM available.

strickly_ppc670 01-04-2008 02:51 PM

Please shed some light on how to remove the /FILTERFS.
I have posted before to no avail. Thanks

rob

first let me say you rock!!!

i flashed with no problem except i am having problems with the calendar has an error.

also, i am getting multiple icons in the programs menu. is there a way to clear the rom and load everything new? i am in bootloader v1.02. i love your work and want to use the upgrade but i am having issues.

bigwolfbebad 01-06-2008 01:24 PM

Complete noob, need help x_x

Hi there, i have recent upgraded my phone using this upgrade, I have a sprint PPC-6700. It works well with the exception of a few things, and I may have missed them here, but to be certain I'd really like if someone could help me.

1) I can't get the weather to work.
2) I had to manually input my sprint data connection thing (#777) as opposed to having it auto connect, so everytime I go to use something, I get that screen that asks me to put in a password everytime (Is there any way to get past that?)
3) Whenever I send a text message, I no longer get that little 'text message sent' screen, and I didnt see any way of changing that.
4) I have some duplicate programs, but thats probably my fault.
5)I cant access the 'running programs' option from the start menu, I have to go into settings and memory every time, because it says something about 'memory.exe' possibly being damaged.
6) When I sync the phone, I can't sync it to the previous profile as my computer thinks its a new phone.

If anyone could help with any of these problems, I'd be extremely grateful.

Sounds like the result of not performing a hard-reset after flashing your devcie. Hold down both softkey buttons simultaneously while you press the reset button through the little hole with your stylus. It will ask if you want to hard-reset, so slide out the keyboard and press "y". After the device boots, everything should work normal. Hope this helps!

First, do what I just recommeded above.. hard reset your device. when the screen comes up for the data connection you shouldn't have to enter anything, just check the save password box and continue. To get weather to work you have to mess with a key in the registry, I haven't really looked into it, however it is fixed in my next build which I will hopefully release shortly. Honestly though, the hard-reset will fix most of your problems but feel free to post with any other problems you may have,

bigwolfbebad 01-06-2008 01:40 PM

alright thanks man, I'll try it out now.

bigwolfbebad 01-06-2008 01:47 PM

Hmmm, well that seemed to have worked for the data connection, duplicate programs and other issues, but I still cant get it to sync with my other profile on here. :/

phisheyes 01-06-2008 01:57 PM

ROB, that did it!!!!! you are the man!!!!!!!!!!! also, i want to say thanks to everyone!!! and give helmi a big thanks also.

Poestaboy 01-06-2008 02:22 PM

2 problems Im having with this..When i Hard reset ,one person said to reset right after setting time zone, when i do that, my SMS messages send the right way...but my Connection doesnt connect....when i hard reset and allot it to load all that stuff..everything works right except my SMS messages come in as the 1st word of the text in place of where it shows Whos textin me...So i cant reply...

but im using the Apache Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0)

No it doesn't. Roms distributed on ppcgeeks are not supposed to include any Palm-derived threader, though exceptions have sneaked through in the past.

Contacts will not work

Some one please help:
I just upgraded to Rob Mayer's WM6. The only problem is my contacts do not open. When I click the button it seems to do something then it closes immediately. I installed PocketCM just to see if it helped and it lets me view the contacts for like 5 seconds and just closes again. Someone please HELP ME!!!!

EDIT: Ok nevermind I fixed the problem. It was due to not hard restarting after the update, instead I accidentally did a soft restart. In order to fix this I had to do a hard restart, hit Y, then do a soft reset after putting in the time format during the loading period. Unfortunately I had to manually put in all of my contacts :(

Thanks for making and sharing this with us.

Are there any plans to include an HTC Home Customizer or does anyone have a link to a .cab that works with this ROM?

I have one, but I'm prompted to download HTC Home and it doesn't work regardless of what I do.

Thanks in advance.

I just want to say that this rom is incredible

I want to say I've been using Rob's latest rom on my HTC Apache/PPC-6700 for 2 months now and it has worked 100% rock solid. Rob's rom is 100x better than any rom sprint has released and has stopped me from considering getting a PPC 6800 Mogul (until EVDO rev A and built in GPS firmware comes out for it at least ;-) )

I just hope that when I finally have to upgrade from my PPC-6700, that Rob will be able to work on the PPC-6800. Otherwise, I might just have to stay with my PPC-6700 forever since Rob has made this so amazingly stable and productive.

Thank you again Rob for this rom. You have brought all PPC 6700 owners to state of the art and have maximized this phone to its full potential! Sprint QA needs to take lessons from you on how to make a stable rom.

Hehe - looks like you have a new cult member, Rob!

I hate to burst your bubble, davedude, but the state of the art and stability accolades are 99% helmi_c's work. The remaining 1% is due to a bunch of other people, of which Rob is but one of.

If you really want to maximize your phone to it's full potential, try the kitchen. It's hard to beat a custom ROM designed just for You.

You want stock or C&S? Either way, the kitchen is the answer. For stock, use the default kitchen settings. For C&S, uncheck everything but your carrier selection.

rxb216 01-16-2008 07:10 PM

I heard from user "spetrillo" that the latest kitchen (from 12/17/07) fixed some sound skipping issues with SDHC, and I can see the from 071117_1 changelog that "Block transfer size for SD and MMC classes down to 20 from 40 to prevent music skipping".

I want to know that if I install the SDHC.777.cab file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328330

then how can I manually change the Block transfer size down to 20?
Is this a registry edit or are the actual drivers different?
Is there a newer SDHC cab file that has the latest drivers that reflect the smaller block transfer size?
OR does someone like me absolutely HAVE to cook a new ROM (based on the latest kitchen) and then include SDHC support from there?

It would be a lot simpler for me if I can just install the SDHC CAB file and then change the block size myself, (or if the lower block size is in the newer driver file itself, then I would want the newer driver)

I can see that there is a place in the registry here: HKLM/drivers/sdcard/clientdrivers/class
and
I can see that there is MMC_Class and SDMemory_Class, and I “think” that I would change both of these to 20. I also think that the required value of “20” is in hexadecimal, and not base 10. Sounds right?

This is not a cult, meaning these ROMs or this thread. Because you are so focused and relentless regarding changing the mindset of people that you don't even know, I'm removing the download links to the ROM(s) on this thread. That way everyone will see the light and be drawn to the kitchen, and all the "cult" members can fill up your PM mailbox bitching to you about why you had to ruin it for the others. Some people just want a ROM gguru, not everyone wants to f**k with a kitchen.

rxb216 01-18-2008 01:30 AM

Dave, agreed.

Back in the day (as I've heard) there were many many people that cooked and released ROMs: kirvin, colonel, phonix, and countless others. Rob's probably the only one doing WM6 builds publically for the Apache, so I too am glad that someone is cooking WM6 ROMs and releasing them. And at least I can ping Rob with a question here and there, as he should be asked since it's "his" ROM. I've noticed that some moderators kinda get upset if one asks for support if they are using a C&S ROM, so I think its best to direct questions to the cook himself...

Rob Great Advice....That way everyone will see the light and be drawn to the kitchen, and all the "cult" members can fill up your PM mailbox bitching to you

Here is a copy of my PM to gguruusa thought it would be good for all to see.

As Rob said ....."This is not a cult, meaning these ROMs or this thread. Because you are so focused and relentless regarding changing the mindset of people that you don't even know, I'm removing the download links to the ROM(s) on this thread. I've tried all the rom's and the kitchens with no luck read all the instructions but just couldn't cook. Left ppcgeeks (experts) went to a reliance rom from India and came back to use Rob's rom. His is the only WM6 Rom to include transcriber that I've found. I've decided that the so called experts that leave out the best part of this phone (transcriber) are the ignorant ones not those of us that can't cook in the kitchen. Now your actions have caused my loss of continued Rom's.

I wonder who said this.. PPCKitchen.org is dedicated to putting out free easy-to-use solutions for end users who wish to update or customize the software on their Windows Mobile phones.

Isn't this what Rob is doing? Helping people with easy to use Rom's or is this still about someone not getting the proper attention that their micro ego needed which is all anyone whines about.

I Don't Hide Behind a User Name! If you can't figure out my user name it is spelled out clearly in my signature.

Rob:
Thank You for being truly dedicated to putting out free easy-to-use solutions for end users who wish to update or customize the software on their Windows Mobile phones.

Sorry once again that some child has been playing with their parents computer because I thought only adults used these forums. I must be wrong. You can count me as one of the less fortunate people that relied on your Rom's. We can all experience your frustration because of the micro ego's of the chosen few.

Thank You for All that You have Done for Me and making my phone enjoyable.
Maybe this is a sign for you to focus on your new family and business.

Don't be bothered by these little people whose life consists of these forums and nothing more. Enjoy The Best Days of Your Life! Blessings to You, your Wife and Fatherhood! Being a great husband and father is where your will see your greatest return on your true investment.

tbergloff 01-18-2008 02:51 AM

Rob has saved many Apache Arse's including mine by enabling fast upgrades, with a stable, and potent ROM. Make no mistake, the kitchen and Helmi's efforts deserve all the credit for making this possible and an obsoleted device state-of-the-art.

But for god's sake, don't throw someone under the bus for trying to make it easier for others who haven't spent enough time in the kitchen.

gguruusa 01-18-2008 04:18 AM

My there are some sensitive people here.

The original post was so full of wide-eyed awe and pandering as to be easily associated with cult-like behaviour. If you didn't recognize how over the top the original post was, you need to put down the Kool-Aid.

Explain how I threw Rob under the bus. I don't see it.

JTSV - Why would anyone care what your name is?

BTW, no one get's upset when questions get posted about C&S roms. You get pushed back to the ROM developer because that's where you are going to get an answer - no on else want's to take the time to figure out what the developer has modified when the developer already knows what he modified. Furthermore, the developer needs to be aware of any issues so he might fix them for his next ROM. The developers thread is also the best place to look for a solution by other users.

Catman51 01-18-2008 12:25 PM

Rob,
Please don't stop the your roms due to a few idiots. Please put them somewhere where the schmucks can't get them, but please bring them back.
I'm no expert, but what you've created works perfectly for me! Thank you

rxb216 01-18-2008 01:43 PM

I think the ROM links will be back soon enough. In my "narrow vision" (as an unnamed moderator) put it, I still see the majority of ppcgeeks people as non-kitchen users (who really don't post that much). They are happy with the ROM they get and it's just that. It's better than the last official Sprint/Verizon release, and its better than most of the tweaked/cooked aku 3.5 WM5 ROMs. Rob's ROM users dont need to "tweak" the hell out of their device like most kitchen people like to do. Rob is giving us a blank phone with a decent amount of free space for us to do as we will. He's made some fixes, regedits, and other changes. Some may think of his work as small, and others as big. I really dont care, as long as I get somthing cooked and that basically works.

I'll even take it a step further to say that I think most people on this site (who don't post but are registered) would rather have cooked ROMs rather than a kitchen that they'd have to spend time learning (even if its not that hard to learn the kitchen).

We all can indeed see that there are far less cooked (and advertised) WM6 ROMs out there, to this statement I could agree with gguru that perhaps the trend is towards cooking your own ROM, but there still 60 pages in this thread and pleanty of noob people that like C&S (present company included).
