Palm Threaded SMS on WM6 NOW WORKING!!!
is now working!!!!!
After MUCH testing and poking around, i found out the problem was with the new SMS_providers.dll. This new version is fixed, locked, clocked, and ready rock! Ver 1.0 Everything should work like it did on WM5 Ver 1.1 Forgot to add Shortcut to old mail program, fixed now Ver 1.2 Fixed Verizon issue where you werent able to receive MMS messages. Good news everyone! Verizon MMS messages now receive in the threader program! Ver 1.2S added new updated/animated smilies (most are animated, but not all). They dont show up on the smilie popup selection box, but do show up in the messages AND on the notification window animated! Download here: ver 1.2: Link removed by moderator (regular smilies) ver 1.2S: Link removed by moderator (new animated smilies!!!) Directions: copy cab file to your device via activesync, double click on cab, and install to MAIN MEMORY. It should prompt you to restart at the end of the install. Enjoy! Note: As before, the MMS portion of this program STILL DOES NOT WORK. I did however set up the Email Center number as "6245" which is the correct one for sprint (and i believe verizon as well). That key allows you to send SMS to email addresses. If you need to change it for another provider, you can do so under setting. You can still use the arcsoft MMS program to send MMS messages. Plug for a good developer: I definitely recommend the use of VJSlippyPalm with the Palm Threader program. It allows you to assign a key to a program that will switch back and forth between the Regular Mail program and the SMS threader. Get it here: http://vijay555.com/?Releases:VJSlippyPalm |
Thanks!

Thanks :-) |
Crap, looks like Cingular and Sprint only so far...
Anyone have one for Verizon, or know how to make it work for Verizon? I'm going nuts without my threaded SMS, lol.. thanks! |
you should be able to use the sprint version. i believe the carrier specific settings have to do only with MMS, which as far as i know still isnt working. Also it seems that the build i posted is having issues, as it can receive messages but not send them. Im looking into it right now
|
I'm disapointed that MS didn't put in a better SMS in WM6... They really screwed the pooch there...
|
Anyone else getting the message "Message could not be sent. An error occurred while sending. (0X6000005) Please try again later."
|
yep. see first post :D
|
Saw this thread after posting the same issue on the Helmi WM6 bugs thread. Anyway, same problem here. I verified that text messaging was working fine before installing, installed and then could not send OR receive texts any more. Uninstall restores texting, but it sounds like I don't want to reinstall...
Bummer, because I can hardly live without this app. I may have to dust off my old AKU3.5 ROM until this is resolved... :( Just posted a feeler over at Treocentral to see if anyone over there might be able to help... |
I have tried 3 different modified installs of threadedSMS and none of them work, i to am rolling back to aku 3.5, i cant afford to lose my txt history ><
otherwise though, wm6 is awesome on the apache |
I think I'll be right behind you...
|
I had the palm sms threader on my AKU 3.5, and now it doesn't work on the new WM6 rom.
I installed it 2 ways, neither of which worked. 1 - install WM6, and allow the VZW apps to be installed 2 - install WM6, soft reset before the VZW apps are installed However, my friend with a Cingular 8525 installed WM6 (I don't think it was Helmi's version), and he has the Palm SMS threader working. |
okay, my friend with the Hermes (Cingular 8525) said he got his Palm threader from XDA. He says you need the threader for your specific phone. I'll keep looking.
EDIT: I'm looking, but still haven't seen anything |
i posted a sprint version which is working on WM6 ppc6800s.
|
Any word on it working on the 6700 with the new WM6??
|
I'm still testing.....
|
okay, I got this threader to work. It is a threader, but the layout is different than the Palm SMS threader I'm used to. I'll post some pics....
EDIT: okay, now Activesync doesn't want to work. I wonder if there is a conflict. EDIT: okay, now I uninstalled it, and Activesync works again. Here is the website where this threader came from. http://www.trianglepowers.com/PPC/Apps.aspx?app=PPC I was using the "SMS Threader", but I would like to try the "SMS Threader Advanced", as it looks more like the old threader I used to have, but I guess its not out yet. I'm going to try the SMS Threader for WM6 |
The TrianglePowers.com SMS Threader for WM6 does seem to work (and ActiveSync works too - I'm using Vista).
I must admit, although the threader works, it seems too basic compared to the Palm threader I'm used to. I'm hoping the SMS Threader Advanced will be better. I think there are more threaders. I'll try them out later. |
I used the Triangle Powers version also, but I just have gotten too attached to the Palm Threader. I hope they find a fix for this. The Triangle Powers is a good program and is reliable.
|
Agreed, it works, but I am definitely attached to the Palm Threader (it is very nice!) .
I'm also trying this Threader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319899) ShogunMark's WM6 Threader (Which seems to pretty much be the Palm Threader for WM6, but I think it's only for AT&T? It acts the same as the Palm Threader I used to use. EDIT: Okay, I noticed the ShogunMark WM6 Threader does work, however, it wouldn't send/receive files. I checked the configuration, and it is set for Cingular. Does anyone know what the MMS Gateway settings are for Verizon? Maybe someone with WM5, and a working threader can check.... |
MMS has never worked for CDMA users with the palm threader.
|
Lol, I just figured it out.
For the threader, you want to go to advanced options, click on Manual, and make everything blank, with the last option set to Default. Then click 'ok', and put it on Automatic. Now the Palm threader will work (I had to check with the settings on my brothers WM5 phone that I installed the Palm threader on) For the application, check my post 2 posts up. |
hmmm that version posted does the same thing as the other ones for me. you are able to send out messages from your phone with the sms threader?
|
it just worked, and now its not working. I'm testing some things out...
I noticed when I go from Automatic to Manual, it already has some settings in there (even if you delete/overwrite them). On the other phone, everything is blank except MMS URL - which is "http://mms.sprintpcs.com/servlets/mms. I'm still having trouble with the threader though. |
also when you uninstall this version, you have to remake the messaging shortcut, as the uninstall deletes it.

even the wm6 version that cody posted for the mogul gave me problems, so I uninstalled and went back to the stock app.
I just discovered yesterday that pocketCM threads your conversations if you click the "send sms" button for the contact via the PocketCM. No notification issues, no strange bugs, plus pocketCM is just a joy to use. |
i can say i ran into the issues with palm threaded on the wm6 rom.. i installed palm threaded and was able to send/receive. after a soft reboot i wasn't able to send messasges and receiving errors for every message. removed palm threaded and everything is working fine again. this app is a must needed for me and i'm heavily deciding on going back to wm5.
|
i was exited to see wm6 for the apache almost cried LOL because i was going to get a mogul next week so thank u helmi for saving me a few dollars..
i am a heavy texter(if thats a word) bacause of the service in my office area.. i am holding off on flashing until this issue is fixed..knowing myself i will flash before i hit submit |
I agree with all of you, the Palm threader is a great program to have. I haven't tried the built-in PocketCM threader on WM6, but on WM5, it would only thread my outgoing messages.
I can honestly say I did have the Palm Threader working on WM6 for about 5 minutes. I don't know what I did to make it stop working, but it does work on WM6. There must be something we're overlooking. I'm still trying, because I want this to work just as much as you guys. As soon as I figure it out, I'll let you know. |
Okay, now I'm having trouble using SMS messages all together. I can send them, but I can't receive them. I did a hard reset several times, without changing any settings, and I also tried hard resetting while letting the VZW EXTRoms install, none of which showed any results. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Flaky SMS
Well. It seems like I have some flaky SMS issues with the standard messaging client now too. Last night I was getting texts for college football score updates, but around 10:30pm, they stopped coming in. I thought maybe the service stopped sending them, but then this morning around 10:20am I suddenly got about 35 texts with score updates from the night before.
I'm going to have to monitor this closely in the next day or two. Flaky SMS will be a show stopper for me. |
i got this threaded sms to work. i think it's different from the ones that you are talking about but it works well with wm6 and its free.

I've tried 4 variants of the Palm Threaded SMS app. I can recieve but not send. Hope someone finds the magic key to make this work on apache and wm6. Its been reported to work on "mogul" with wm6 so i would think it should work for us apache users. I've been scanning through the registry to see if i can find something that's different. I'll report back if i find anything.
