I got it to work kinda... I took the OEM for wm6 threaded messaging. It can be found in chat i think. Copied all the files from the oem folder to windows. Created a shortcut in windows/start menu as well as windows/startup. The start menu one allows me to open the messaging app to start a new text or go back into it when ever i want. The startup one allows the program to run from bootup. As long as the program is running it will pickup the messages. I have also been able to send messages just fine. I have been using it like this for two days with no problems. I also added the messaging app to the exclusive list in task manager. The only thing is I can't figure out how to make this completely take over for the default sms, so if i click on the sms tab of htc home it still brings up the default app. Hopefully this helps others and helps those working on the kitchen and maybe someone who knows more than me can figure out the rest.

I'm thinking it's definetly something in the registry. The beta4 release of the palm app had some files that you had to copy over into the windows directory on pre aku 3 devices. So i thought maybe our wm6 files were just too new since it worked on the wm6 mogul. I tried copying those versions of files from a mogul and a wizard rom and still got the same result. Could recieve just not send.

Since nemanracing could get it to work just copying the files over not importing the registry, this makes me believe even more it's some reg keys causing it not to work. I'm going to do some comparisons between this version and the wizard version of wm6 to see if i can find something.

Fantastic!

I'm back on AKU3.5 right now, but will try to reinstall WM6 soon to see how it works. Do you have a donation link?

Can I ask what you found was the problem???

takmsdsm 09-10-2007 12:50 PM

If you have version 1.0, probably not many of you, uninstall and reinstall version 1.1. I forgot to make the shortcut to the old mail program :D.

Or you can just add a shortcut to tmail.exe to your programs directory. Either way.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 12:53 PM

Thanks - where do we unzip all these files to on the phone? Any instructions?

takmsdsm 09-10-2007 01:02 PM

No donations necessary :D but if you really feel the need, i do have a coffee fund (need to fuel my late night obsessions with messing around with this phone) you can donate to here.

The problem was with the new SMS_provider.dll. It took a couple days of digging to figure that out. A ton of testing later, a couple fixes and everything is now working :D

copy cab file to your device via activesync, double click on cab, and install to MAIN MEMORY. It should prompt you to restart at the end of the install. Enjoy!

InvincibleLiving 09-10-2007 01:10 PM

um i'm at work, and they blocked the link on the first page, and i cant browse to it on the phone to DL. Can someone up the cab here or PM it to me? i've been salivating over this release. Good work cracking the issue.

the18thtee 09-10-2007 03:00 PM

This is awesome! I have been checking this thread around 3 times a day, waiting on this release! I was actually about one day away from rolling back to the 104 kitchen even though I love wm6...
taskdsm, if this works, you are a badass. Like the ppc version of MacGyver...

no, but thats something you can change in the registry yourself pretty easily. i chose to leave it be. I use a hard button to get in my sms.

fitbryan 09-10-2007 04:24 PM

Installed this and its working really nicely. Well done! Unfortunately Im having the delayed text problem like a bunch of other verizon users so not sure if this will affect it. We cant figure out if its a ROM or VZW issue.

skipster 09-10-2007 05:32 PM

I am seeing a slower response in general on my XV6700 after putting this in. the app works fine, but the device just feels slower than before.

datacron 09-10-2007 08:01 PM

Thank you. You're work is greatly appreciated.

Jmckinney1976 09-10-2007 08:05 PM

I installed the cab and it's now stuck on the splash screen after soft reseting

jammis 09-10-2007 08:14 PM

I installed the palm threaded messaging cab on my mogul but it messed up my MMS and would also fight with my pocket flick CM for message threading. I just hard reseted and decided i didnt want it.

markppc6700 09-10-2007 08:38 PM

jammis its been a problem with pocketCM and every sms app.. i think they are going to release a version where u can turn off the sms feature on pocketCM ... as stated in the first thread mms doesnt work for palm..

takms will flash later tonight i need to wait for a few calls and a picture mail before i flash to wm6 and test this app

eyeballz 09-10-2007 09:46 PM

Folks my better half(vzw wireless employee), says verizon had some sms service issues over the weekend.

Give it some time. I sms'd all day with her though and it was working without delays. I installed the fixed cab at lunchtime. Working great here!

specv 09-10-2007 10:47 PM

thanks, works great. I can finally play with wm6

rfletch12 09-11-2007 12:24 AM

Thanks for the fix !! :)

markppc6700 09-11-2007 11:02 AM

wow thank you taks.. i think i am keeping wm6 on my phone thanks to you, i didnt play with it until now and i am loving it..

best part so far "copchase" alarm sound woohoo i almost had a heart attack this morning LOL..

sends and recieve at the same speed it was on 3.5, also i like the fact that it didnt take over the left softkey, earlier i asked if it did because i wanted it to but then after seeing all of the options i have with that key i was glad that it didnt.

once again thank you and i will send 2 weeks worth of coffee $ for u ( *calculation* $.50 times 5 working days a week time 2 = $5.00 LOL jk)

rex 09-11-2007 12:25 PM

Thanks... bug??

Taks
Thanks for the fix. couple of questions.
i can now see that there is a new txt message in the today screen. but when i open the threader app, it is no where to be found. i am able to send messages though. i cant seem to get the new ones to load.

this could be because it is picking up the data from a file called PalmMsg001 in the \windows folder. this could have been created by my first install of the palm threader available here at ppcgeeks about 2 weeks ago. my newest message in the threader is from then.
if i delete this file, then the new install seems to start loading messages from the beginning 10 at a time everytime i open the threader. considering i atleast have a 100 messages a month for the last 12, i would need to open and close the threader application a 100 times before i get upto date. is this normal? would it then receive new messages properly?
i am not sure if i am clear with my questions. if some one understands please help.

shakuyi 09-11-2007 02:56 PM

downloaded, installed, tested working excellent great job i love it this phone has improved so much with this new rom in fact my number of soft resets have dramatically decreased

CommieCOZY 09-11-2007 03:10 PM

Many thanks for your work. This is more of a general question than anything else, but did the palm app never report the message over bluetooth? I had really gotten used to hearing my texts instead of reading them.

ejqr5 09-11-2007 03:45 PM

Thank you for making my day!!! I've been waiting for this since WM6 was released and I realized that I couldn't go without threaded texts. I will be making a donation on payday.
Commie, I've never gotten any kind of notification over my bluetooth. The only way I know is using a program I think is called bluetooth audio ID. Good luck.

did you empty your old sms box (all of it, inbox, sent, trash, drafts) before installing? if not, you will probably have to uninstall, do that, and reinstall. more then likely you had a new text message with the old program, and installed it before checking it.

PalmSMSv001 stores all the text messages sent and recieved by the palm SMS threader ONLY. so if you installed 2 weeks ago and then went to wm6, and then used that file, then yes, the newest message would be from then.

The reason why your threader is loading messages is the reason explained above (clearing out the mailbox before install).

If you are having issues, i recommend starting from scratch. Uninstall, delete your old SMS mailbox contents (all of it, making sure to delete the trash folder too), and reinstalling the threader. You can use the old PalmSMSv001 file at that point if you choose to, but unless it has something important, i would just start with a blank slate.

stuart628 09-11-2007 09:58 PM

if I use this program, I will not be able to send/recieve picture messages correct? I need to know as my wife loves to send me photos of my son throughout the day, and that is more important to me to recieve those then any threaded message

you can receive picturemail regardless of what program you are using. you can still send picturemail via the arcsoft MMS program here on this site.

Does the palm sms app. not use sounds to notify you of a new message? I often times have my phone in my pocket and I need a vibe or a sound to notify me of a new message. Is there any way to turn this on?

It works fine if you set it properly :) this app has its own entry in the notifications list as palm sms app, which needs to be set for whatever notification(s) you choose.
