Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

So in going to put in this in through regedit, I found the entry: Hkey_local_machine/Software/Arcsoft/Arcsoft MMS UA...etc

I didn't select Arcsoft as an OEM when building the kitchen, nor did I install it after the cooking. Is this something left over in the ROM build or did the previous owner perhaps run Arcsoft and it just got stuck in the registry (assuming that kind of thing doesn't get overwritten in hard reset)?

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

So gguruusa ... Based on the path of the reg, it appears that this mod will impact the behaviour of the entire PPC - not just WMP? As I recall - and keep me honest folks - prior to this last set of projects (since "helmi") the behaviour of the PPC was such that while WMP was actively playing something, it never went into hibernate mode; BUT something that hasn't changed is that when taking a call, the screen would go into hibernate (and calls would continue) after x number of minutes. THIS is crazy . Perhaps a registrey dump of 19716 and 20xxx to compare?

The hibernate issue in general is driving me crazy (and to know me you'd summarise it'd be a short trip). I've tried multiple builds from "just enough to get by" to my "normal load" and have yet to figure out exactly what it is that causes the PPC to "check out". I had originally thought it had something to do with wkTask but that didn't pan out. THEN it would seem that every time I configured activesync to connect to my corporate mailserver, within minutes the PPC would have "checked out". So I started thinking that AS was goofed or perhaps that policies that corporate pushes to the PPC were suddenly incompatible with build 20xxx. Soooo based on some of the chatter here, I've had for the last few days I've had 20755 (selections included) with my "normal load" w/o AS configured and have had a single "check out".
Thought I had lost my last created copy of 19716 but I found the last ROM built late last night and my try reloading it for comparison.

Thoughts/opinions?

To reverberate what others continually state, many many thanks for all of this effort as it has definately extended the life of the Apache (had mine since it was first available).

Best regards

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

I think it may be the kitchen that has changed because every build i have tried now has this problem --Shutting down after 4 minutes, seems to me this is cause of activesync issue too since you are not actively touching the screen or buttons. perhaps due to the new create a project?

i have used every build before the new create a project tab appeared and did not have the 4 min. shutdown problem. On latest build i changed the power setting to 5 minutes and got one more minute before it shut down, can anyone confirm this?

I would also like to say Thanx to everyone who has contributed to the kitchen. Feel like i am complaining but if we dont leave feedback problem will remain.

Um...sort of.
There are 3 different power managers, gwes being one of them. gwes and power manager (one of the other two) aren't supposed to be active at the same time, but inadvertently are in this release. Disabling gwes will leave power manager to control device power (the "stock" method of power control). The activation of gwes power management came from the merging of some no2chem stuff for Titan into the common registry base. It will be corrected in the next release.

Big thanks to Skinneejoe for tracking this issue down.

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

Just tried this ... Looks like a reboot is needed after the reg modification ... Had tunes playing in WMP and like the 5 minute mark was still active (shut off towards the end of the second song) ... Did a reboot and all looks good ... I guess a redirect question is does this also resolve the "checking out" that a number of us have been noticing? I'm currently initialising AS to find out ...

Thx

Yes, you'll have to reboot for it to take effect.

"Checking out"?

"Checking out"?
As has been noted in various posts, there seems (or seemed) to be a situation where after the PPC went into hibernate, it stayed there - period - and no pushing the power button to wake it up would help ... Only a reboot would resolve ... Many replies from yourself and others said to "minimise" your build. Been there and done that ... it effectively had no affect ... But with this power manager issue, I'm hopeful ...

It's possible it could be related.
