Arcsoft MMS 4.2.8.1

Hi all,

I have an OEM for Arcsoft 4.2.8.1 but I cannot seem to figure out how to default it to Verizon in the OEM, plus getting rid of the Default configs. Basically I want Verizon to be the only config.

I have tried other OEMS for this but they seem to have the same issues.

Thanks,
Steve

friguy3 12-15-2007 10:25 PM

Not sure what you mean to default it to verizon, but i am using it. I put the oem in the personal oem folder and checked it off when making the rom, but make sure the other arcsoft is not checked. then just set it up like you normally would and there you go.

When it is installed via the OEM package, the default server is "Default" or something similar, but for me at least, it doesn't work, and there is also a Verizon Wireless server that has all the proper settings and it works fine, but one has to go in and set it to the default server to connect to

friguy3 12-16-2007 09:50 AM

after you flash the rom, you have to set up the server, but only once, then it should always work. you can delete the other server that youre not using and make the verizon one the default, tap and hold on the verizon server and choose default. is that your question? should work

GaMedic 12-16-2007 10:08 AM

I think his question is how to build the OEM with those verizon settings built in so that when you hard reset the settings don't have to be entered again. Wish I could help you with that.

friguy3 12-16-2007 10:16 AM

oooooohhhhhh....that i cant do. lol sorry

spetrillo 12-16-2007 11:07 AM

Ga Medic has it right! With the 3.0 OEM there is only one server entry for Verizon. With the 4.2 OEM there are actually three server entries, Verizon, Default, and SampleMMSC.

I would like to delete the two and leave the Verizon entry so its the only one, just like the 3.0 OEM. I have tried comparing the reg entries but no luck. I was hoping the person who developed the 3.0 OEM would have a clue.

Thanks,
Steve

Can you PM me the OEM. I'd be glad to take a look at it.

Can someone detail the benefits and changes to the new MMS (if any).

blee0125 12-20-2007 12:53 PM

turns out that most of this has been covered here:

friguy3 12-20-2007 07:56 PM

3 things for me...
1. the send key is a soft key
2. you can reply with SMS and not an MMS
3. After it downloads/sends, it automatically disconnects from the data connection

This is actually the thread from which I got the original OEM. It still has extraneous settings, which I am trying to remove in my updated OEM with some luck. I can remove the sample settings but cannot understand how the Default settings are being created along with the Verizon settings. I also would like to know if Sprint users would find benefit of this app, and if so pass the Sprint settings to me for inclusion in the final OEM.

Thanks,
Steve

Send key should be customizable via the Smartskey or SoftKey app.

I am looking into the other two but not sure how to do that at this time. Please stay tuned.

friguy3 12-21-2007 09:26 PM

i thought you can customize the 2 softkeys on the today screen, but you can customize them "in" a program? that i was not aware of. anyone do this?

Sprint MMS Settings

Does anyone have the Sprint MMS settings that could be incorporated into the OEM. I finally have gotten a fully functional Verizon OEM for 4.2.8.1. Are there any carriers that people would like included? I would be happy to do the software setup work but would need volunteers to test the different carriers.

Steve

friguy3 12-23-2007 12:31 PM

there already is a fully functioning oem. been using it for months on vzw

True, but maybe he has managed to get the settings in to the program with out having to do reg hacks after install.

For Verizon that is exactly what I have been able to do. I wanted to open this up to other carriers now that I understand exactly what needs to be done.

I believe the other functional OEM makes you enter the VZW information after the fact. I have included it in the OEM, and it installs perfectly.

This would be something I would be interested in.

I asked this same question in another forum and was ignored.

Hope you get the info and can build a Sprint OEM for this.

friguy3 12-23-2007 08:52 PM

oh, well then thats cool. nice work. might upgrade to a 6800, hope this works on there too!

charleskincade 12-24-2007 12:25 AM

spetrillo, can you please tell me how to do all of this. i'm with alltel, btw, if you could taylor fit it for me i'd appreciate it. i need you to break it down for me that even a child can understand, i've been trying to get mms on my alltel 6700 forever and a day. I'm running helmi's 20071207 with 3.02 arcsoft mms running in the rom. I tried lenny sh's method but was unsuccessful.

I will need the port that Alltel wants for MMS, along with their MMS server addy. The rest should be pretty easy to work through. I can have something back to you quickly once I have this info.

4.2.8.1 for Alltel

I believe I have a working OEM for Alltel now. If anyone is interested in testing please let me know. If you would like your carrier supported on this package please let me know.

Thanks,
Steve

If you use Arcsoft 3.0 then you can get the Sprint settings for me and I will put it into the 4.2 package. Export the entire HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft for me and send it to me. I will also need the entire HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox settings.

Thanks,
Steve

Yes pull the info from that and I should be ok. Does MMS work for Sprint on your phone now?

I thought you said you were using the MMS from the kitchen? The reg entries you sent are those from a 4.2 version that is not modified. This has not been verified for inclusion in the kitchen yet? Did MMS ever work for you? Have you used the Arcsoft 3.0 package?

Thanks,
Steve

friguy3 12-27-2007 12:57 AM

Can you post the VZW MMS 4.2 OEM, id love to try it on my 6800...when i use the one i have for some reason the server is "locked" and i cannot make a new one nor edit the one that is there (sampleMMSC) thanks!

friguy3 12-30-2007 08:28 PM

ok found these reg edits...enjoy!

hklm/software/arcsoft/arcsoftMMSUA/config/UI/

enableserveredit...change to 1 and now you can change your server crap if it is blocked like when you run the ext rom from verizon...but there is more!

autodisconnect...change to 1 and it will automatically disconnect from the data

NeeddisplayMsgInfo..change to 0...now it wont change to that annoying MMS info page after showing the pic

This is great feedback. I will add this to the OEM as defaults. So can you say that the OEM is working without issues for VZW on a 6800?

Thanks,
Steve

blazingwolf 12-31-2007 10:44 AM

He can say that for himself. He can't say that for me. It does not send messages for me at all. It seems to lock up while trying.

I am using this with DCDs kitchen.

Hmmm interesting...

Could you send me a dump of your Arcsoft registry? I would like to take a peek at it. I have not seen the issue you have mentioned. I would be interested in knowing what Friguy is running on his 6800.

Based on the trouble report by Blazingwolf what ROM are you running? Is it stock or one of the 6800 ROMs available?

Steve

friguy3 12-31-2007 08:43 PM

This is what I do, exactly as it is and nothing more or less...done it on many 6700s and now on my 6800...dont know how to dump my rom but is this what you meant by "running" on my 6800? hope it helps

Sprint OEM Available

A Sprint OEM is now available for Arcsoft 4.2.8.1. Should you be interested in testing it please PM me with your email addy. Please be aware that I could not test it previously, so I am looking to volunteers to test it and ensure it operates.

Thanks,
Steve

I'm running DCDs kitchen. I get you the reg dumps tomorrow.
