Steve,
I am on VZW and flashed my phone with the 4.2.8.1 MMS app today. Everything seems to be working. It seems like the message in MMS will only send if I keep the application open. I will have to test further to see if this continues. Also I had the option to automatically send/recieve when sending an email prior to this build. I don't know if the MMS app made that option go away or if I am just having trouble locating the option. Let me know your take on this.

Its quite possible that the option to disconnect fthe data connetion when closing the app is causing this. Many people who dont have unlimited plans wanted this. Its a tweak if I remember. Search the reg changes for datadisconnect (cannot remember the full syntax) and you will find the right one.

As to sending from an email I am not sure what youre asking...can you elaborate?

Thanks,
Steve

Is anyone who installed this have it working for Sprint? Something is going on and I am not sure that we can send MMS. Incoming is ok (at least from Verizon) but I am unable to send. It would be great if something in this update (from the kitchen version) fixes that problem. Thanks!

charleskincade 01-30-2008 10:06 PM

I read the instructions back on page 7 of this thread and I'm confused about the user comment and un-commenting the user comment. can someone please explain to me what that's about?

I have had inconsistent reports from Sprint users. Some have said it works and others had issues. Please test and give me feedback. I am really looking to make this part of the kitchen.

Sure its real simple. Right now the OEM is setup for VZW since I am on VZW. In order for this OEM to work for other carriers you must comment out the VZW domain reg entry and un-comment out your carrier's domain reg entry.

Any other questions please PM me.

My OEM does not install on a Touch at this time, unless you can add it to a kitchen for the Touch. I am working on a CAB install, and hope to publish this sometime this weekend. Not sure at this time.

Stay tuned.

Are you using my OEM? If so then please dump your reg and send it to me. Try to send out, then sync your phone with your PC, and then please zip up the MMS Log and MMS UA directories and send them along with the reg dump. You can send to spetrillo@mail2web.com. I will look at them.

I think that the issue he is having is related to sprint. It seems sprint changed something after the 27th(the last time I was able to successfully send a picture from my phone) and have since installed and switched versions of arcsoft, double checked that I was connecting to the right server, etc.

Same here. It first was just having to resend 3 or 4 times, then it quit altogether. I've tried everything I know, hell I reflashed my 6700 3 times to make sure it wasn't on my end. I had changed some stuff on my plan, so I thought it was just me, but Sprint changed something, server address probably, and it stopped working.

All Sprint people please dump me your MMS UA and MMS Log folders from an unsuccessful send. I might be able to figure this out.

Cool, you'd be my new hero if you can figure it out. Where are those folders on my PPC?

Nevemind....found 'em! don't have time this AM to send but will send tonight. Thanks in advance!

I am having the same problem... Also on Sprint. I would love to send you those files if you could just tell me where they are located. I have looked everywhere.

Ok first things first....

I also need a full reg dump of your phone. Please try to send a MMS, let it completely fail, and then dump your complete reg and zip it up. Next sync your phone with your PC. Once done look into the phone's My Documents and you will see a UACONTENTS folder. Click on that and then you will see both the MMS Log and MMS UA folders. Zip them up and send them to me also.

Thanks,
Steve

Sprint Users Read

To all Sprint users:

In an effort to try and troubleshoot the curious send issue I would like the following done to try and give me as much info as possible. I am working with a friend at Sprint to determine what is the issue, since corporate is not saying much.

So here is what I need. I need you to try and send a message and let it fail completely. I then want you to sync your phone with your PC, including checking off files. This allows the MMS logs to sync to your PC. Next I would like you to have another person send you a MMS msg. Allow it to come in completely and then sync your phone one more time with your PC. Now find your MMS Log and MMS UA folders and zip them up. Perform a reg dump on your phone and zip that up too. Send them all to me at spetrillo@mail2web.com.

Thanks,
Steve

Resco will have an export registry function. Export the dump to a folder on your storage card and copy to your PC. it will end up as a .reg file. Take the dump and your UA folder and zip them up. just did it myself using MemMaid. Send them to Steve, not me. He's the brains that hopefully will sort this out.

Thanks go out to you Steve, and best of luck to solving this.

Can someone please tell me how MMS is supposed to present itself?

Is it set up in messages or through the camera?

I have cooked the latest version in my rom but I do not have all of the entries in the reg that others are talking about and changing.

Thanks for any help.

If you have installed the Arcsoft MMS they should be there.
For the UA contents, look for the UA folder in MyPPC/My Documents/UA Contents. There should be a UA Log folder there. That's the one you need, along with the registry export.

Wizzard 02-02-2008 01:58 AM

Guitardoc, I have installed the Arcsoft MMS but I can only see it in the registry. When I pull up Messaging, I only get my Sprint account. Should there be an MMS account to set up? If not there where do I go to set up the MMS account.

When I look in the registry, I find the various entries for the program but nothing about the server to change and the other items people have been working on in the registry.

The question is twofold, first if it is on the phone, as it should be, then how would I set it up in the OS so I could use it and a sub question of that is how do you use it.

Second, do I have to create the entries in the registry that people are talking about in this thread or are they created when the MMS is properly setup?

Thanks

It should show up under messaging as pix/video. I have noticed that it has disappeared from the selections after a failed attempt to send, but reappears after a soft-reset. That may be the problem for you, but I'm also thinking that there might have been an error in the build. It should be ready to go in the build. When it was working, it didn't need to be set up or anything, it was already there.

This is all kind of a moot point since it's not working right now, and there's no way for you to test it.

Can I get this in .cab form?

friguy3 02-12-2008 06:27 AM

as far as i know you cannot install mms via a cab, must be installed when you flash in the rom...you can try though if you can find it, its out there

wingnut987 02-12-2008 06:33 AM

Curious if any sprint users are able to use mms with their SMART PHONE?
And if thise program will work?
Thanks

pr0ducerpj 02-12-2008 06:41 AM

no this program will not work. sprint already cut it off. no one knows how to send pics..hopefully someone will figure a way

FYI to all of you I am finishing up a cab install for this. So hang in there.

charleskincade 02-12-2008 06:36 PM

Please walk me through this thing! I've tried to do everything that you told me and I still have no success. first I went into arcsoft/arcsoft mms ua/config//mm1/wspheader and put in my phone number, then put www.mms-mt.alltel.net/servlets/mms as the domain under the UI, then I selected Alltel as my default server under the mms configuration and still nothing. Can someone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix this. I didn't have this much trouble when I was using 3.0.6!

wingnut987 02-12-2008 08:41 PM

I am under the umbrella of the MIGHTY SPRINT are we still SOL? With MMS?
I read a few posts that seem to be misleading about the possibility of a new coding string that could and would fix the MMS problem with Sprint thanks for the help!

did i miss someting? are we almost at a fix for sprint?

timdawgdentist 02-13-2008 04:34 AM

someone brought up the idea of

writing a little program that would send the message out to all combinations of email addys such as 555-555-5555@urcarrier.com you know all the carriers because the number is only at one carrier so the others would be unsent but it would get through forgive if this doesn't make sense the ritalin hasn't kicked in yet

but I am glad you are going to have a cab soon

You need to use the OEMizer to put this in. PLease read the guide from Ga Medic on this or look for Tiermann's thread on his OEMizer.

Re: Arcsoft MMS 4.2.8.1

Anyone have phone issues after installing this? Once installed, MMS SMS worked fine, but my phone would have problems answering calls (intermittently), and/or answering automatically on speaker-phone but with the mic not working. Weird. Once reflashed w/o this MMS upgrade, it worked as normal again.
