i have noticed the same issue with the slowdown during activesync.

I am a VZW user. I have the MMS installed that was included w/ the latest kitchen.

I rarely use MMS but the other day i tried to send one with the default kitchen settings (carrier=verizon in buildOS), and it didn't go through. I checked the arcsoft reg setting and found this:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
"X-Alltel-MDN"="703*******"
"Profile"="http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Titan-1.0.xml"
"hmac-md5-key"="ph1uzoe52iuw"
"User-Agent"="utstar67kv1"
"Accept"="*/*"
"Accept-Language"="en"
"Accept-Charset"="us-ascii;utf-8;iso-10646-ucs-2"

The first two lines concern me. What is the Profile key (2nd line above) and why does it reference the Titan when the chosen device in buildOS is the Apache (greyed out).

As for the first line. I went back and checked my selections.txt and I definitely chose verizon as my carrier in buildOS, so where did the "X-Alltel-MDN" key come from? I did try and change the key to "X-vzw-MDN", reset, and resend... but it still didn't go through.

My UNALTERED server settings since flashing are (Pics/Vid Configuration):
Server name: Verizon Wireless
Gateway: {blank}
Port Number: 80
Server Address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Connect Via: Data Network Connect (also tried Verizon Wireless, but no go)
Sending Size limitation: 878k
WAP: WAP 2.0

Can anybody see what my problem is and is this a kitchen issue or did my configuration just get screwed up somehow?

Thanks

here is what i have:
accept: application/vnd.wap.multipart.related
accept-charset: ome long ass thing
accept-Language: en
useragent: utstar67kv1
X-VzW-MDN: my number
x-wap-profile: http://www.arcsoft.com/mobile/UAProf...UA-PPC-v42.xml

thats all i have and it works perfect.
you need to change your limit size too 350kb or less too

Thanks for the response GA Medic, I will attempt to reflash and NOT select any battery. I have lately started having issues with the Blue tooth dropping or when I use my hands free link in car, the voice dialer of the phone would load, but I have no voice dialer info saved. I have had to soft reset to solve, but is this associated with the bluetooth problems the PPC has always been plagued with? I believe there is a cab from BuzzLight year. I think it suspended the bluetooth from disconnecting. Would this help with this upgrade? I was in the Sprint store yesterdaY and the rep was showing off his Touch and how he was able to watch the Patriots-Eagles game over the Sprint network using Sprint TV, Not just clips, but the actual game. I was so pissed that Sprint is leaving us behind even though the 6700 has proven to be a great phone.

You can try going to settings->connections->usb-to-pc and unchecking the box.

I actually use activesync so I want it to connect. WM5 didn't slow down if you used your phone during activesync but WM6 does.

tiermann 11-29-2007 07:29 PM

It doesn't turn off activesync. It just uses a different driver.

Weather Plugin No Longer Working

Looking like the version of weather in the HTC Plug-in for the latest Kitchen no longer works unless you delete a key in the registry is it possible to update for the next kitchen release so it works without tweaking?

And by the way thanks for all the hard work on this project I love working with this new kitchen. :headbang:

Hey all,

I'm experiencing a problem with bluetooth, MSVC, and the new build. When I attempt to initiate a call using my Parrot hands free kit in the car it activates MSVC on the phone but immediately ends the bluetooth audio connection (leaving the MSVC audio prompt playing through the phone). This worked properly for me using the previous build. Has anything changed in the kitchen or is this possibly something I have configured incorrectly this time around? Thanks!

sweh 11-30-2007 10:51 AM

Newbie kitchen user here, on Sprint. The build and flash process worked just fine with me. I haven't used WM6 much, yet, but noticed the following oddities. Most of these are probably stock WM6 issues and not anything you can do (but you've impressed me so much that I wouldn't be surprised!) but i'm documenting them for completeness.

Request for enhancement in the kitchen: an indicator as to whether software is freeware/shareware/trialware/commercial.

Possible or actual bugs:

Password bug after reset (the same as other people have mentioned). This is annoying since the phone sometimes (for no reason I can determine) turns on while in the holster. I use a PIN lock just to stop random things from happening.

Slow syncs (again as others have mentioned). I'll try the USB-to-PC change tonight when I get home.

Occasional unexpected power ons when in the holster on my belt. Can't replicate or determine why. Did this a lot with WM5; one of the main reason I'm trying WM6 is to hopefully stop this.

Unexpected data traffic. Can't replicate or determine why. I've found the phone connected to the EVDO network (especially after a soft reset, but also at other times) but the data connection isn't necessarily working.

Communication Manager can't always close the data connection (leads to "spinning circle of frustration"). WM5 was sometimes bad at handling data sessions (especially in weak signal areas like New York Penn Station). This was my other big reason for trying WM6. It's not costing me money, but it wastes battery life (already low).

I'm very impressed with how easy you guys made the process of building new ROMs and flashing them over! This is good work.

moparman141 12-01-2007 01:43 AM

Quick question from a newbe. I've "cooked" a rom and loaded it to the phone with no issues. Phone is running fine but in my lack of knowledge I seem to have missed how to activate all of the items I selected to during the build. I thought that the new rom builder basically did it all for me. Did I miss something simple?

Bluetooth and Car Charger

Morning all,

I love my 6700 and you folks have done a fantastic job. I have two small issues that I have brought to the table before but have not seen anything on them.

1) Bluetooth disconnects: I have frequent drops of BT with this kitchen. I can be in a call and the BT drops but the call does not. In order to re-activate the BT I have to either soft reset or reset BT in the comm mgr.

2) Car charger: my car charger does not operate with this kitchen. I thought it was the charger but I bought a new one and it still does not charge in the car. I re-flashed my 6700 back to the latest stock ROM (AKU 3.3) and the charger operates perfectly.

All in all I plan on using my 6700 for a long time coming, even with the 6800 now announced for VZW. I hope VZW supports a CDMA version of the Tilt soon!

Thanks,
Steve

Yeah, your not the first to request free/trial/commercial. We'll add that in a future release.

Unexpected power ons are annoying, but a fact of life. Usually they relate to notifications or magnet proximity.

Your phone shouldn't connect to data unless some application is requesting a data connection. In most cases, applications can be configured to not automatically download data.

How do you completely shutoff the 6700? I thought holding the top button would do that?

That's interesting. My car chargers (4 different ones, ranging from poor quality to very nice) work fine. Considering that the charger is just providing DC power on 2 wires, I'd say it's more likely that your charger is underrated. How many Amps is your charger rated for? The guy (runt) who has to turn his phone off to charge from a car charger is likely suffering from overloading his charger as well.

no, that only puts it in standby. To completely shut it off, you can either pull the battery (it definately won't be on - but it won't charge either), or you can run one of the numerous "shut down" routines many close button programs have built in.

Dang - I've had this phone for over two years and never new that. So If I hit the "Power Off" button in Ilauncher I'm actually shutting the phone as opposed to putting it in standby? Does that mean I wouldn't get any calls or reminders (seems I wouldn't).

I guess it must do more than just standby. Why else would the option exist? Kind of dumb to have a software package have a standy button when there's one right on the phone.

gguruusa 12-01-2007 04:23 PM

not totally dumb...some people break their buttons (or are paranoid about breaking them)

The easy way to tell if your phone is off vs in standby is: when you hit the power button, do you get the boot splash or a today screen? if bootsplash, your phone was off. If today screen (or any other screen than boot splash), you were in standby (hopefully).

I actually like the idea of a button to completely shut off the phone. Can you refer me to good software that could accomplish this?

Sorry - I know this is a bit off topic.

sorry, should have said let it go into standby. it happens with any charger other than the one that came with my phone. i have tried 3 different chargers (one radio shack, one that came with my bluetooth gps, and one verizon razr charger) all require me to let it goto standby first), i don't really mind letting it goto standby first since it works fine after i bring it out of standby. if it stops doing that, then i will complain. only issue i am having now is that my phone is going through the batteries faster than normal, but that could be due to the severe winter weather causing a reduced signal (today was the first time i had the bad reception due to weather).

luv2chill 12-01-2007 06:03 PM

Actually there is no way to power off the Apache without draining/pulling the battery. A short press of the power button puts the phone in standby. A long press of the power button turns the backlight completely off. The numerous applications that offer a "power off" function will either suspend the device or soft reset it, depending on the app. There is no way for a software program or button to completely shut off the Apache. The only way you can do that is to disconnect the battery.

Note that is not true with some newer HTC devices (such as the Wizard, Titan/Mogul, etc.) which have changed the functionality of the power button such that a long press will actually turn the device (including the phone) completely off.

Actually, I never let the customizations run with any ROM i put on my phone. What was odd is that ever since I've been using an actual mini sd (not the micro sd with the mini sd adapter), my phone has been stable.

Before my old card lost all of my information, it would always tell me that my card was removed, even if it was still in the phone.

tek2tirado 12-01-2007 07:45 PM

ok i final got the buildos runnin

i update the rom
now im gettin acouple of errors

the sprint tv doesnt work

i think htc x isnt workin properly cuz when i press it it shows for like half a second and disappears
and when in a program or settings .... the top tool bar freezes and i cant hit OK or the Start bar

oh and internet sharing ..... it connects but the arrows stay gray

any one else had these problems?

Wizzard 12-03-2007 03:07 AM

Has anyone had a problem with the missed call notifications?

My wife's phone will not show that a call was missed on the today screen or that there is a vm message.

Mine works fine and they are both flashed identically?????

Thanks

well, yes, I know what will happen :-)

You will be fine. You will have a stripe in landscape mode where the missing pixels would be.

ahh okay, thanks ggu, i didnt realize that actually flips when in landscape mode on a reset. ;)

trayson 12-03-2007 11:21 PM

I've been running this ROM for a few weeks. Here are the couple of things that seem quirky:

1) my Weather on the HTC home today plugin just stopped working over Thanksgiving weekend... It says "unable to retrieve data for the selected city" no matter how many times I try and which city I choose. (I am in Vancouver, WA USA)

2) I have my device set to sync with both Gmail (POP) and my work's exchange server every 15 minutes. When I get a new e-mail, it will prompt me that I have new messages and give me the option to VIEW or DISMISS. This is normal. However, in previous ROMs I've had, once I opened the messaging application, the prompts would stop from that point forward (until I got NEW messages beyond those that I was previously notified about). For example, I'll get 3 new email messages, and I'll go over to the messaging application. I decided that I only want to OPEN 2 of the 3, leaving 1 unread. If I then close messaging, it will prompt me that I have new messages every 15 minutes even though nothing "new" has come in beyond that one remaining unread.

This one is kind of bothersome, because it keeps telling me I have NEW unread when it's just the same unread that I don't have time to deal with and don't want to open 'on the road'.

3) I run tom tom 6 on my PPC. In prior ROMS, I would be able to hit the "okay" button to minimize tom-tom and leave it running in the background. While tom tom was minimized, I was able to close other running programs, and do other funtions. However, now, if I minimize tom tom, and try to use that task manager in the upper right corner it will maximize tom tom. (makes it kind of hard when I forget to close programs and I want to increase system performance without having to re-start my navigation). I can however go into settings, memory, running programs to close things. But that's why we have an add-on task manager in the first place!)

starting last friday, i started having a huge issue with battery life. used to run for almost all day without dropping much below half, now i go through a full battery (stock, 1500Mah or 2400Mah) in a couple of hours. anyone know what could be causing this? i didn't change anything that i can remember. do i just need to hard reset and see if that fixes it?

gguruusa 12-03-2007 11:57 PM

run acbpowermeter, and start killing processes. If your power usage is still high, then start disabling today items.

If your power usage is normal, but you are still having battery issues, then you likely have a today item that is making a data connection frequently.

A hard reset shouldn't be required, but you might experience temporary gain from a soft reset.

i didn't build abcpowermeter in. nothing on my today screen us making a data connection more frequently than it did before. i also disabled exchange email and have two imap accounts set to check once a hour (had exchage set to as items arrive from 8-5 and then every 4 hours the rest of the time). soft reset doesn't do much if anything.

i'm not sure what caused it yet, but the only thing i installed last week that uses a data connection is microsoft's remote display control, which does not work correctly with wm6 (locked up on me once).

You don't have to build in acbpowermeter to use it. Download and install the cab from here:

The new ROM is awesome! I have only 1 gripe!

The default Messenging program does not have the MMS account setup. I only have Text Messages & Outlook Mail

I'm also not able to send/receive any MMS messages obviously.
I'm on Verizon...

Any ideas???

If for any reason you uncheck the auto power off feature (either one) your battery will be toast.

S2U2 seems to put the thing in AC mode, I killed my battery today when I disabled AC timeout, forgot to re-enable it, and then ran the rest of the day... by 9 pm battery was in panic mode (normally it would be 50-60% by then)

You didn't include Arcsoft MMS in your build. If you check the box for it, MMS will be included.

Are you running the HTC Home plugin by any chance? I've been noticing horrible battery life since last Friday as well, but then I realized that the weather feature stopped working, and it has been sitting there non stop trying to download the weather. (there is a fix for that).

Has anybody successfully gotten "Hbutton" to work? It allows me to remap the hard buttons, but errors out when I push them.
