thanks  the problem was the MASSIVE data connections:violent2: everything is perfect now...thanks for the help:headbang::)

If you're just doing a quick tap and it's only turning off the backlight, what else did you build into your ROM?

Tapping the power button does turn off the phone (standby). Letting the phone sit idle for the period stated in the power settings does not turn the phone off. The idle period is set at 1 minute currently, and it never kicks in.

Set it smaller and see what it does. Try 15 secs or so. It won't enter standby if plugged in.

A new revision of the PPCGeeks OEM package is now available on the FTP.

Change log for rev4 @ http://ppckitchen.org/oemchanges.txt

http://ppckitchen.org is also in the works. Right now it just has some quick Kitchen/OEM related news which is also available in an RSS feed.

The lowest setting it seems to allow is 1 minute. I can set the backlight off to a shorter time, and it seems to work. I'm going to try reloading the ROM tonight to see if it helps.

On another note, I noticed the vibrate feature is no longer vibrating. Hopefully the ROM reload will fix this too.

Thanks again for the help.

Wanted to let you know that the HTC Customizer does work with the later version of the HTC Today plugin. I have it running and customized on my 6700 currently.

From OEM or cab install?
As far as I know, it works with the cab version but not the OEM until HTC Customizer is updated.

rnobles 12-17-2007 09:54 AM

ROM Reload fixed both issues. Thanks for all the help.

I tested it both ways. I first installed it as a CAB after a flash, then I took the second step and implemented it in my ROM. I then install HHC as a CAB.

WM6 Kitchen and Calendar in Agenda View

I am having issues with the Calendar.

I build a custom rom using the latest BuildOS.

The issue I am having is that I can not switch to other days when I open up a Calendar event in the Agenda view.
I can switch days when I change the view to Day but in Agenda view it will not change the day.

Anyone else see this issue?

For some reason when i want to call the person back that i just talked to, it wont let me just hit the "talk" hard key. I have to go into history, hit the joystick then hit it again

I will re-flash tonight and see if that fixes it.

I need to change to a different dial skin anyway (using Vogue dial skin right now, which I see is listed as a bug). Also downloaded the newest PPCGeeks_OEM.rar file (v4) so good time to re-flash.

Thanks

Here is a list by size of the latest rev4 OEM folders. This should help those attempting to figure out what to eliminate in order to include all of the OEMs they want in their ROM. It is assumed that the final size in the ROM is proportional to the size of the folders. This may not always be true, but should work as a general guide.
Removing larger folders should make more room in the ROM.

I have this same issue. I can't redial using the green phone button or the talk button on the keypad.... I wonder if this is a registry setting?

RobertMills 12-17-2007 03:18 PM

I just got the latest ROM on my Apache and everything is worling great except one small kink. Whenever I send a picture/video message, the message comes up being from different number other than mine. Text messages come from my correct number. Any idea how I can change this?

zenak 12-17-2007 03:20 PM

The only other issue I'm having is that the joystick doesn't work in Kevtris. If I go into the options and try to remap the commands the detect feature works, it will tell me left, right, up, down, but inside the game I'm not able to manipulate the pieces at all. The joystick works perfectly in every other app, so I'm sure it isn't hardware, and because it works when asked to auto program I have a hard time thinking it is the app, but I don't know what else could cause the issue....

A new kitchen has been released.

Please check if issues with this kitchen continue on the revised 20071217 version, and post to the new bugs thread if they do. Bugs not expressly indicated as being fixed are likely to carry over, but we will need to confirm that.

Can you post a link to the instructions you used to install the cert? I ask because I noticed that when I've encountered a missing root cert from verizon, the directions we got included the steps:
11. On your phone: go to Start-File manager- Storage
12. Execute VZW_spaddcert.exe and select the certificate

I imagine those steps will just make the registry change but I'm not sure. I'd like to see the instructions you used.

Also, instead of generating a self signed cert you could quickly create a CA, sign the cert with the CA and upload the CAs public key. If you're a windows shop, that's pretty easy. Also, there are a couple free cert signers out there since you clearly aren't interested in identity validation (just encryption). Although, it's probably easier to pay the $30 and buy a go daddy cert.

I want to say thanks to everyone who worked on the wm6 upgrade and the kitchen, I really appreciate your work in bringing this update to those of us who love our phones but our carriers don't.

That said, I'm having trouble getting my direct push to work again with my exchange server. We are using 2007 with a self-signed ssl cert. On wm5 I was able to use the registry changes along with importing the cert manually to make it work. With my new upgrade I am now getting the message "server cert is wrong". I was unable to find any real answer searching google and these forums. I have tried to manually import the cert and doing the registry change but I'm still running into the same problem.

To be more specific, without the registry change, I get a message stating the server is the wrong name, with the registry it just tells me the certificate is wrong. I have checked all date/time settings on both my server and my phone, both match exactly. I have full access to the exchange server and phone. Any ideas ? Are there any new registry tweaks that can be done ?

I can confirm this problem. Prior to this update, I was able to connect to my exchange server, now it says "The security certificate on the server is not valid". I believe my work uses exchange 2003.

Yes, it is just another method of getting the cert installed. I've used the .cab version successfully on every version of Windows Mobile I've had on my phone (including the original Sprint ROM and updated official Sprint ROM) with the exception of the latest (1117) kitchen. I can't personally vouch that it works in that kitchen as I now use the OEM method (I started using that in the 1108 kitchen).

Though I guess if the cert if properly installed as a trusted cert in Windows Mobile, then this may not be the solution. Have you tried accessing your exchange server using Pocket IE? Active Sync and Pocket IE are supposed to use the same APIs for accessing the server so if you can't access it from IE w/out SSL errors, it won't work in Active Sync.

It makes a big difference whether the cert gets installed into the Root store or the Intermediate store. We were doing some testing at work and discovered that the only way we could get a silf-signed cert into the actual root store is to use the cab install method. Other attempts all resulted in the self-signed cert getting placed into the intermediate store. Didn't make sense to me at the time, but that's what we found.

So if you didn't use the cab install method, make sure you try it.

Re: Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) 071117_1 Bugs/Patches

Direct Push - server certificate is wrong --

To confirm this bug: One of the biggest problems i initially had with upgrading to WM6 was that my email and contacts wouldn't connect with my company's exchange server or that direct push wouldn't connect. The problem is described as follows:

"That said, I'm having trouble getting my direct push to work again with my exchange server. We are using 2007 with a self-signed ssl cert. On wm5 I was able to use the registry changes along with importing the cert manually to make it work. With my new upgrade I am now getting the message "server cert is wrong". I have checked all date/time settings on both my server and my phone, both match exactly. I have full access to the exchange server and phone. Any ideas ? Are there any new registry tweaks that can be done ?"

I was able to fix this problem by importing a cert manually, without any tweaks, but it had to be done in the following way for mine to work (i will write this in the most basic explanation i can, so that hopefully everyone can follow):

1. Open Internet Explorer : Obtaining the certificate had to be through internet explorer, it wouldn't work through firefox or other browsers.
2. Go to your exchange.___.com email server for your company.
3. There should be a certificate symbol at the bottom right corner of your screen (the yellow/gold padlock). Double click it
4. click on the details tab.
5. Click on the "Copy to File..." button.
6. The Certificate Export Wizard should show up (or does for me). click next
7. I used the first format option DER, then click next.
8. give the certificate a name, save it to your computer
9. using activesync, just copy it over to the phone and from the phone, double click on it.

Most of this should be pretty straight forward, but when i first had this problem, i had problems getting a certificate that would work. My IT administrator sent me the official one off the server, but it wouldn't work. using the steps above, it works perfectly. I didn't have to use any registry changes at all, just finding the correct certificate fixed all the problems.

Hope this helps. Feel free to add any comments to this post or clean it up.
