I moved back down to the 3.5 AKU but I'll give it another shot today. Gives me an excuse not to answer emails at night!

Yes, it is just another method of getting the cert installed. I've used the .cab version successfully on every version of Windows Mobile I've had on my phone (including the original Sprint ROM and updated official Sprint ROM) with the exception of the latest (1117) kitchen. I can't personally vouch that it works in that kitchen as I now use the OEM method (I started using that in the 1108 kitchen).

Though I guess if the cert if properly installed as a trusted cert in Windows Mobile, then this may not be the solution. Have you tried accessing your exchange server using Pocket IE? Active Sync and Pocket IE are supposed to use the same APIs for accessing the server so if you can't access it from IE w/out SSL errors, it won't work in Active Sync.

Not a bug but, more like a benefit

I noticed that after I cooked this ROM that I am getting EVDO signal. I have NEVER, in 1 1/2 years of owning my PPC 6700, received EVDO signal here at my home. I don't know if this is a result of his build or if a tower was added at the precise time that I uploaded this ROM lol. Just wanted to mention as I thought it was odd. I did upgrade my radio about 2-3 weeks ago to 1.43 but only had 1-2 extra reception bars on 1x.

Please disregard this post. It is apparently an new tower. I don't want to get this forum off topic because I jumped the gun prior to checking on what I was posting. If any of the moderators want to delete this post and any referring to it please feel free to do so.

That's great, but just as an FYI it definitely is not related to this ROM. Your carrier must have turned up a new EV-DO tower.

That is the case apparently. After my wife got home I checked her phone and it is showing EVDO as well. Just really funny that it went live around the very same time.

runt 11-20-2007 09:08 PM

i am now starting to get EVDO more often in my apartment, however i think its only due to the weather as i am on the fringe of an EVDO coverage area.

The exception you get means the new "second splash" isn't quite ready yet, and yes, as a workaround you can place the welcomehead.96.png in your Patches folder for now.

Just to doublecheck for GGuru... What format is the image in that you're trying to use for second splash (jpg, gif, png, etc) and what size is it? second splash should usually be 320x320. Also, anything else you can tell us about the exception message would be helpful. Should be a message just above the buttons.

A little confused here. The instructions say to start the executable "ppc-buildOS.exe" from the BuildOS folder within the root directory "BuildOS". Starting that shortcut produces: "unable to open BuildOS_config.txt.....". I assume then we should use the "Apache Helmi WM6 PPC-BuildOS" link in the root directory. Clicking this I go past the "carrier not found" and then I get "Module PPCGeeks_OEM.rar was not found. I click OK and it states that 5 modules were not found including voice commmander, HTC smartdiling and 3 office applications. The selections window does fill after that. Should I ignore all these flags?

First, yes you should be using the shortcut to launch buildos, not the exe directly.

Second, you are missing the ppcgeeks_oem.rar file, or if you do have it you didn't put it in the right place. First of all, place it in the root of the BuildOS folder (i.e. C:\BuildOS). Second, don't extract it (I know that seems counterintuitive but BuildOS automatically takes care of that). After you have done that, relaunch BuildOS with the shortcut and you should be good to go (aside from the carrier not found error which you should just ignore).

Is anyone having problems getting MS voicecommand 1.6 to announce incoming calls?? Yes I have the box checked.

This happened before and I applied the WM6 service patch 1 and it began working with the previous versions and VG's version.

Thanks

If you are using the OEM for voice command that came with this kitchen then you should not be having any problems with call announcements. If you installed it later via cab then I dunno.

But I made this particular OEM and tested it very thoroughly so I would be surprised if it's not working for people. Please give more details if so (not announcing over the speaker or not announcing over bluetooth?).

One thing is for sure, that service pack thing is not applicable to these kitchen-based ROMs. It could potentially cause other problems so if you applied it you may want to hard reset to get rid of it.

i have the uk version installed later on as a cab.. coz i guess the default in the rom is the us version? is it? coz for me only the uk version understands my accent.. so does it mean i shd apply the service pack for anouncments to this uk version?

I meant to ask this before... this OEM MS Voice Command - is it a commercial version in need of a serial number? Or is it some version that was distributed with a ROM and thus needs no registration?

Actually, MSVC never needed a registration number. It was simply not legally available without a paid download.
I was wondering the same thing though; I'm sure that there is a minute difference in version numbers between the retail version and those that were distributed with a ROM. Everyone here was always very clear about not distributing retail software that should have been paid for...

luv2chill 11-21-2007 01:43 PM

The version I used for the OEM is not available via retail--it's an OEM version that was included with some device ROMs. There was a discussion about whether to include it or not, but since other OEM-only software is included (HTC Home, Cyberon Voice Dial, etc.) we decided to allow it. Even if you paid for voice command, the version that you have will not work properly on WM6--this is the only version that will, and it cannot be purchased currently.

Sunny I have not made a fixed OEM for the UK Voice Command yet. It's on the to-do list.

schettj 11-21-2007 03:16 PM

Thanks luv, I was wondering about it... sounds reasonable. Why MS doesn't just give this away anyway is beyond me. If nothing else, its at least one area where they are ahead of apple, feature checklist - wise.

I use a Bluetooth headset often, so any help would be appreciated.

Above is one of my posts from a 071108 thread, but it's still applicable with 071117. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I have two Plantronics Bluetooth headsets (510 & 855) that have worked well with prior ROM builds, but are struggling with this one.

I have also been following a thread in the Titan (Mogul) forum, where they claim to have found solutions to various Bluetooth problems http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=11258. I'm aware the 6700 is a different device, but maybe something is applicable for us.

schettj 11-21-2007 04:50 PM

What radio firmware version are you running dc? Am I correct in guessing the radio firmware has something to do with all three radios on the 6700?

Wizzard 11-21-2007 07:32 PM

Thanks Luv, I have both the US and the UK versions. I used the OEMiser to convert the UK version and used it.

Guess I'll have to reflash with the US version in the kitchen and wait for the UK OEM.

Does the Kitchen version need the .exe file or is it included?

Thanks

The exe is included because it is not the same exe that you have from the retail version(s) of MSVC.

so i have a question. if i am reading right, the VoiceCommand software that I paid for and downloaded is not supposed to work with WM6?? Mine seems to be working. Am I reading that the OEM version in the kitchen is better that my retail paid version?

Wizzard 11-21-2007 08:40 PM

Never mind. I reflashed and it works perfectly.

Mucho Thanks

collindv 11-21-2007 08:57 PM

The only problem I have had with this Voice Command OEM (and maybe this is how it's SUPPOSED to work, I don't know) is that when my bluetooth headset is paried, the phone ONLY rings over the headset. No sound at all is made from the phone. Kind of annoying if you happen to have the headset paired, but not currently on your head. I work around by turning on VC announcements over the speaker.

bmx045 11-21-2007 10:21 PM

The splash screen has a few 256bit color patches, I tried two different splashes (apache 2 and 3) and they both exhibit the problem. However the phone and the WM splash is fine.

Wizzard 11-21-2007 11:27 PM

Collindv, in the VC program try checking the box that says use BT only if available. Maybe that will allow the speaker to work when the BT is turned off.

Good Luck

Has anyone found a way to fix the Windows Media Player problem where it won't show the video in fullscreen mode. I have to rotate the screen first in order for it to display fullscreen correctly.

? 256bit color patches? that doesn't make any sense.

Upgrade your BuildOS.exe to the version in post #1 of the BuildOS thread stickied at the top of the forum.

Trident 11-22-2007 03:00 AM

Every time I hard reset, the first time I sync with my PC, A/S changes my Apache's DeviceID to WM_user. I change it back to Trident and then everything goes fine. This happens no matter if I've already customized it or if it is the default APACHE.
It only happens once and it's not a big deal, just a curiosity.

That will work if he turns off the headset, but if he just takes it off and sets it on the table while still turned on, it will still ring in the Headset. I'm usually good about that, but I missed 2 calls the other day because of doing that same thing :???:

Duplicate alarms

Is their a fix for this, whenever I create alarms or appointments with alarms they are duplicated/triplicated. I have tryied unchecking the alarms and removing all classic time base items in MemMaid but once I recreate the Alarm/Appointment it is once again duplicated.

Oops, sorry forgot to mention first you guys rock. With the kitchen I have no problems at all.

pachock 11-22-2007 02:58 PM

I was able to get VOIP to work with my provider(viatalk). I can confirm that the volume is very low on both the speaker and when using bluetooth headset.

what do you mean by duplicated/triplicated? do you mean that the chime goes off like every 15 seconds or so? that, i agree, is annoying. or are you suggesting something different?

Actually suggesting something different. If I set an alarm for 5am (built it clock), when the alarm goes off their is 2/sometimes 3 instances of the notification, so I have to dismiss each.

i think i experienced that briefly when i installed some software that locked me up (when an alarm was set) and with every soft reset, the alarm would start back up. try the following:

1. clear all alarms.
2. set alarm 1 to any time
3. clear it
4. soft reset

then test again and see if it still happens.

Ive read through this site numerous times since the AKU 3.5 kitchen.

I love wm6 on my 6700. When I first used the rom helmi first put out for wm6 on the apache the HTC Home audio link when to the HTC audio manager. Now it goes to WMP with the kitchen rom Ive been installing over the past few days to get it right.

Ill post my selections to see if there is something in there.

Also in the oem for 7/17 the PocketCM doesnt show the touch skin. It showed up by default in earlier oem rar file. I opened the files up and it shows both touch and theme as cmt files but doesnt show in themes setting in CM.

I ended up just using the oem files from the earlier one which had the skin since most of the newer oems in there I dont use anyway.

Great job everyone.

Contacts Disappearing

I am using the kitchen and have flashed successfully two times. After hard resetting I use Pim Backup to restore my contacts then about a day or so later I pull up my contact list and it is empty......can't figure out what is happening to them. Anyone else seen this or is it just me?

thanks

I have two xv6700's and loaded the APAC_WM6_R0_Verizon on both. It is fabulous on the one, but the other will not boot. It comes up with Serial at the top and v1.0.4 at the bottom. When I plug in the USB, it has USB and v1.0.4, but I cannot connect. Is there any way to fix this?

The software is great and I love it, but I would like to get the 2nd phone to work.

Thanks
