Smile In need of some help

Hi,

I'm getting errors trying to install WM6 to my Verizon Apache. I'm assuming I have bootloader version 1.04 since my Apache screen says "USB at the top and at the bottom it says "v1.04". Also as a heads up I currently have the last rom upgrade that UTSTARCOM has put out for the VZW Apache (http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads/XV6700%20AKU3.zip).

On my computer I'm running:

WinXP SP2 2 GB RAM .net framwork 2.0 ActiveSync 4.5

To duplicate the issue, here's what I'm doing in order:

1. Hard reset my device.
2. Connect successfully to ActiveSync
3. Running the latest Apache_Helmi_WM6 PPC-BuildOS
4. After encoding the ROM I get this:

5. I click update
6. The phone goes into bootloader mode as normal
7. At this time my ActiveSync Icon disappears from the notification/clock area.
8. After a couple minutes I get the following:

9. After I hit exit my ActiveSync Icon reappears.
10. Phone is still in bootloader mode and I have to soft reset to get my phone to restart again.

I'm sure people out there have run into the same issue. Hopefully it's a simple fix and more just user error.

The next release will probably have that control disabled, as the kitchen you use sets it to the correct value.

If you'd like the WM5 1.04 kitchen packaged for this BuildOS, we can provide it.
I'd seen that option, never tried it. I'm still just amazed at the flexibility you and the team built in to this kitchen. I like the idea of 1.04 as an option, but I'm really happy with WM6. The ROM I flashed Tuesday is so far the best my Apache has ever had.

Try putting your phone into bootloader before you try to flash. Power, Camera, and Reset

wow. i was expecting a response that quick!

I tried that and here's what happened:

1. notification area says "new hardware found"
2. then says "new hardware is ready to use"
3. then says "usb device not recognized"

I've tried uploading/sending the rom to the phone to initiate the upgrade at steps 2 & 3 and get the same results. "error 201: get device data error".

Did you choose the new RUU option before building? You need to do that because you have the 1.04 bootloader.

To do that look at the top of the BuildOS window where it says "Standard". Click that and pick the X.04+ option from the list. Then begin the build process. Everything will be the same except for the last step--it will use a ROM Upgrade Utility that is compatible with your bootloader version.

Awesome! Thanks! That seemed to be the issue. Again, I figured it be something simple and user error. Thanks again.

took me a looong time to read everything but i've read it all. i cant say how much i appreciate all the hard work and time put into this software. i am so proud to be a part of this. i JUST got my apache with wm5 loaded.. i almost threw it out the door. i couldnt recieve calls, making calls would drop for no reason, it would freeze.. no signal in my house. i did some research and spent about 15 hours learning/ installing. i could redo it all now in about 15 mins.. but NOW muahahaha NOW i can get all calls flawlessly! I LOVE THIS PHONE NOW. theres no way any phone could come close to this one. i dont want to touch the 6800 with a 10ft pole untill i can put helmi on it ^_^. THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN. helmi wm6 and radio 1.41 is so great!

I've built your selections without any errors, though I didn't try flashing my phone with the ROM that was built. I did notice though that TCPMP is highlighted in yellow, which I think means that it is needed by another OEM package that you selected. I think that it's the flash video bundle that also wants TCPMP, but I couldn't check it when the video bundle was also selected, so I unselected flash, selected tcpmp and reselected flash and built it again, so you could try that and see if it works for you then.
