Not sure what the problem could be. I'd try reinstalling MDC.

Does anyone know

is there as way to disable the "PPC Geeks Helmi_c" banner that displays at the top of the screen with the main splash graphic? It's not a function of the graphic, as I'm using my own. I suppose I can live with it if necessary, but if it can be aced, I'd rip it off. I like my stuff clean.....

thx

Sarge,
There is a method, and there was quite a bit of animated discussion about it earlier in this thread or its predecessor thread or the BuildOS thread. Just search them for banner and you should find gguruusa's comments on it.
By the way, using the latest BuildOS with the 121707 kitchen, the banner is gone from the default splash.

I found the thread with the animated discussion you referred to. WOW............I ain't into all that.......I just wanted to take the banner off my splash screen! I'm one of these mahafs that don't have a single icon on his desktop.....I just like things clean.......no disrespect meant to all the folks that have done the hard work.......I'll just leave it there.

I have reinstalled MDC and had the same results. Also turned off UAC and had the same results and finally ran it again as Administrator with the same end results.

After I get the RUU has stopped message, I will sometimes get another box stating the ROM download failed.

Any other suggestions on what to try?

I am trying to install the hack and I can't seem to get my xv6700 into bootloader mode.

I am pressing the power button and the record button and then with the stylus I am tapping the reset button. The device reboots to a black screen and then thats it.

I am on Verizon if that makes any dif. Is there anything I have to do to make it go into bootloader mode?

If you can see the word serial under strong light you are in bootloader. At the bottom will be your bootloader version. Plug in the USB cable and see if it changes from serial to USB. If so flash away!
