I am so sick of people who feel the world owes them...

1st person: Here, let me teach you to fish!

2nd person: But I don't have the time or patience for that, just give me a fish.

1st person: Here is evrything you need to fish, a simple sheet of directions, oh and here is a string of my finest fish to get you started.

2nd person: But I wanted salmon, and there is still skin on these fish, you are trying to starve me...

it's really rather ing.

On the other hand I am so impressed with the level of proffesionalism the crew is using. I am a patient person, who had nothing to do with the creation of this, and my blood pressure gets up there just reading this thread.

You guys are just phenominal, seriously, we are all so damned proud just to be part of this it's not even funny.

Keep ROM-Rockin' guys (and gals)...

Yes, but you probably hosed yourself with the 3.3 update. Check your bootloader version. If it's 2.04/2.05, you did yourself a little harm. You can still use the kitchen, you just can't burn as much stuff into your ROM. There's a thread somewhere here about reverting your bootloader to 2.02 - if you like the kitchen, I suggest you give it a try.

No. Actually the right-click-run-as-administrator thing seems to work . . . though for whatever reason, only from the rear USB ports. Now I'm just trying to make a small enough, non-whitescreening ROM . . . still this seems like a much safer adventure than, you know, going outdoors.

Now to perfect the Internet Sharing and make a wifi hotspot out of our 6700 that would be great.. There's a group at XDA that seem close to making it easy...
Turning the 6700 into a WiFi Adhoc access point.

(I only had trouble with his RC1, not with his 0.6c, but I didn't do it enough with the earlier version to know whether that was a luck of the draw issue.)

So, specs, I have a Dell E1705 laptop running Vista 32-bit, and my phone has bootloader 1.00. Oddly if I try to run the RUU with the phone connected to either of the side-jacks, once it gets to the part in the bootloader, it crashes the program. If I run attached to one of the 4 ports on the back of the computer, starting while not in bootloader, it completes the initial phase, but then has a connection error when the phone reconnects itself through bootloader mode. (I also tried multiple cables, killing all other programs, creating a new, clean Vista user, etc., to no avail.)

After 12 hours of trying, I finally got lucky yesterday by physically disconnecting and then reconnecting the phone toward the beginning of the bootloader phase with Verizonguy's RC1. Today I finally got it to work with Helmi's new WM6 kitchen by starting in bootloader and running the RUU with full administrator privileges. I should also note that I had to run the kitchen itself with full administrator privileges to get that to work too.

I doubt this is related to either kitchen, and more likely related to some Vista-USB mishegoss. I considered flashing with Verizon's stock ROM, but the only one I have is the new 3.3 and didn't want to have to deal with getting my bootloader down from 2.05 to something workable.

One other thing -- in between my first easily successful trial with Verizonguy's 0.6c (which, again, I only ran once so it's entirely possible I just got lucky and the problem was there all along) and my interminable bout with trying to install from his RC1, I found and installed a USB update off of Windows update: 941600 I have since uninstalled that update (as well as the two others I put in at the same time) but it doesn't seem to have helped either.

If anybody has any ideas how to more reliably update through Vista or what I might be doing wrong, I'm certainly all ears -- especially since I just noticed my newly flashed phone seems to now be booting only to a white screen as I've typed thisindicating I probably need to reflash . . .

Thanks also to everybody for what must be incredibly time consuming work. I look forward to playing with my phone as a distraction from the work I ought to be doing.
I have been only able to get the thing to flash one time with Vista, never again after that it appears to be some stroke of luck in timing that made that happen. I since just started using my XP laptop and there has been no further issues.I'm not sure what is up with Vista and at this point I doin't think I'm going to try and figure it out since XP appears to run the flash much better going to just keep using that.

What version bootloader do you have?

Also, the selections.txt you posted, is that the exact config you flashed for WSOD? We tried it, and it booted just fine.

First off, THANK YOU!!

Second, I have a bug with my games. None of the key mappings are correct and it seems to be a problem with Kevtris and possibly Galaga.

In Kevtris, I could spend all day making button assignments in the app, but none of those stick.

Bootloader 1.00

As far as I know, that is the exact version. I tried both reflashing the already built ROM and flashing a "new" ROM built with the same options with the same WSOD result, so maybe the hardware is flaky -- the phone was an asurion replacement so I assume it's refurbished (though I find it hard to believe that matters).

I also got garbage when trying a ROM with WkTask manager. I haven't searched the forums on that, though, so I don't know whether that's already been noted. I just did a new ROM with the HTC task manager. For the most part that seems fine, though so far I am unable to restore MMS or SMS using the PIM Backup (though SMS did restore with Jeyo). Bizarrely at one point PIM Backup deleted itself. I wish I could describe what I was doing or how it happened, but I just looked for it at one point and it wasn't there and the shortcut said it referred to a non-existent link, so I hard-resetted.

One other thing: the only option for external storage I have for message attachments is the 4.19 MB free in the Extended Rom rather than the 900 MB or so I have on my miniSD. Should I be searching the forums for an easy fix to this?

Thanks for all your help (once again keeping me thoroughly unproductive . . . though I suppose if I hadn't been playing with the phone, I probably just would have found something else even less productive, like drugs or fire, or matches in a meth lab, that sort of thing).
