I know it's not exactly a solution to your problem, but might I suggest trying cool camera in lieu of the htc one. It has a much faster response time to take a picture and will not recreate the folder that is causing the problem.

So how did folks here get the camera to not re-create the "My Pictures" folder the next time you took a picture (and thus cause HTC Album) to again find no pictures?

I edited the registry and changed all of the HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P1 thru P8 keys named "SaveFolder" that had a value of "My Pictures" to "_My Pictures". This is in addition to telling the camera to save files on the memory card. Anyone know an easier way?
I didn't do a registry edit on mine. I did what Snager & others suggested "start your camera then change the setting so when you take pictures it saves it in storage card"
In camera mode, click on the tools (that's the squarish button with the screwdrivers) => Tools => Options => General => Save to, pick Storage Card.
That did the trick for me.

I haven't found any other way than what most have done already....deleted my pics folder on the device and have the camera save pics to storage. I asked this question in the thread in the software section because it seemed like some people had it loading the storage card only, but the suggestions I got were the same as whats been tried here.

No need to rename folders or any other funky stuff. It works well on my XV6700.

yeap i had those exact same errors, especially with the square fonts on the resco explorer. i wonder what ties that cab file to the font files on our phones. anyone found a way around this by chance yet?

Hopefully, those squares are only visible as you use HTC Album. They are Japanese characters not recognized by our PPC6700 (don't forget the video on the link belongs to katsuo2100).

Here are some screenshots to confirm that we are talking about the same thing:
  1. Find your HTC Album in your programs,
  2. Here we see those square characters. If you feel like playing w/ them, you'll discover that they are selections to connect to different paths and/or networks (nothing to be concerned about). Proceed to select the specific folder w/ pictures. It will not look for pictures in sub-folders,
  3. And Voila! HTC Album with all the functions (in English). I hope this was helpful.
