I've created 28014 rom and so far it is working,


Based on NightRaven Kitchen and with 28008 provided by Acidhax & various sources for 28014 & many more :)

reserved for bug list:

- icon placing in start menu needs to be done correctly
- playback issue with WMP with large storage cards - seems to be fixed? - please confirm
- you still have to do basic things when rom starts (calibration, time zone etc etc)
- Naked rom is almost Naked (it still has some Palm's tools and utils)

All minor bugs:

Phone: Channels - pressing Ok does not exit. Windows key does not cause exit either.
Sounds & Notifications: vibrate always not completley showing. (problems with porting new WM builds to sqvga)
Outlook Mobile: 'Menu' icon does not appear. But if you press the space between keyboard and OK icon menu list apears. - is this still active?

Major bug on some devices:
Phone goes to sleep and you can't unlock it and use it... trying to solve this it seems like it is some Palm driver / WM 280xx build issue

After you do that just start:
ROMUpdateUtility.exe

you have to find a zip (rar) file with the program prepared for kitchen...


some of them you can find here:

after you unzip(unrar) them in some folder for example I've created d:\rom apps\tools\separate folder for each of them\
and so on ....

Thanks a ton for this! I'll flash the ROM soon and let you know what I find. Can I ask for a favor? Would you be willing to post a lite version of your ROM's? Specifically I'm meaning ones that have the reg hacks and perhaps basic system customizing cabs (like CHome, and RegEdit, etc) but don't have the add-ons like facebook, youtube, MP3 trimmer, etc. This would be very useful for people who want to run vanilla ROM's or have their own 3rd party apps they would prefer to install and not have other stuff just sitting there.

Also, any chance you'd be willing to post .zip files instead of .rar? This way Microsoft users can unpack them natively without installing a rar client software pack.

Heechee, did you upload 2.0? I saw that you said you were finished, but I didn't see it in the repository that you mentioned.

OK, below I've listed bugs I noted. Please don't see this as complaining... it's not, it's called beta testing. You've got a good product here and I want to help make it better. Thanks for all your hard work.

Bugs:
- Generally sluggish at times (ex. locking/unlocking takes way longer than the OEM release; Opening programs is sluggish)
- Windows Media Player is still very sluggish between songs and pauses playback every 4-5 seconds to buffer. I suspect increasing the buffer in the registry might fix this but I don't know where it is.
- what is the "rA" icon at the top? I've never seen any builds with that icon on there.
- Scrolling bug with recent calls is still there (type a letter in the home screen and scroll down and you'll see what I mean).
- lines over the clock in the top right.

I'll make a lite pack and full pack and in zip format :)

Having issues with 2.0 so I'm trying to pinpoint the problem and solve i, but this weekend was really busy so from monday starting again on working on the rom :)

I'll try to solve all the issues you have mentioned also :) only problem is that TP is so different from other devices and sometimes hard to correct problems but I'll give my best :)

Thanks a ton Heechee. Hey so I did want you to know that it looks like the bugginess with bluetooth headsets seems to be gone. I just tested it and your ROM has been consistent. Keep up the good work.

Heechee, you rock! Hey, so question: that second link you posted is also listed as a naked ROM (in the file name), but it doesn't look naked (i.e., all the same apps installed)... is that just a mislabelled? The two links seem to have files of the same size? At any rate, here is what I noted with the new ROM:

- 4 across icons look awesome! Good Job.
- I can't open an SMS to respond to it. I can send a new SMS, but when I tap on or click an SMS to open it, it doesn't respond.
- WMP still has buffering issues (pauses every few seconds to buffer) and is very sluggish to move to next/previous track.
- Garbled clock (you've already noted this)
- When setting up the phone the Regional settings default to British English. Any chance of changing this to Default to American English since most users of the ROM are in the US?
- Edge "E" in the top bar is missing and instead I get an rA icon which I have no clue what that means.
- Autocomplete of contacts in SMS is still working! Great!
- Is it possible to categorize all the utils into a folder. I saw that you had CHome Configurator and some Titanium apps in a folder, but perfman and several other utilities were floating in the main menu and it makes for a lot more clutter.
- Scrolling bug with recent contacts list is still there.

So this is a vast improvement over the last release (which was also great) and with the exception of the strange SMS problem, it looks like you fixed a ton of stuff.

Travis I'll try to work all of this later tonight ...
sms - should be the problem with registry settings I've made
wmp - I'll increase memory cache (this will maybe lower the RAM available)
regional setting - I'll try but I preffer british english (non US resident :) )
E icon is disabled, so I'll enable it :)
sorting out was done in full version which failed to boot up, so as soon as I make it work will implement that into Naked version
Scrolling bug and Clock bug are the two items I'm looking for a solution, it seems to have something with porting ROM but I'll try to find workaround - the problem is there are no themes 320x320 and dialers for cooking which I can try to implement and with that sort out the issues...

But we will work on this :) :)

-No worries about the British English... you're tha author. I can just change it. I didn't realize that you were outside the US.
- Thanks for the Edge icon and the SMS registry fixes.
- I think that garbled thing you see over the clock is what you could click on in the OEM ROM to close applications. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but I've never seen in on an HTC phone before... must be a palm thing.

I saw a solution (on XDA) which consisted in disabling the phone application skin. I think it's a registry modification, I'll try to find that...

I saw that solution too. It involved unchecking a box that had to do with the phone skin, but I couldn't find that box on this release anymore. Acidhax might know. He's the one that posted it... i think.

You can install the advanced configuration tool and then disable phone canvas to fix the problem.

That's what it was.

Also, I'm running into an occasional lockup. Both times it happened it was on the screen saver and I couldn't wake it up. It's gone to the screen saver several times and been fine. Possible memory leak?

Sorry for my ignorance. This is my first smart phone. I have successfully updated my phone to the version of Windows you have provided thanks much...

Now I have a dump question. How do I use my GPS. I see the quick GPS icon and I have updated it for next 6 days. Now how do I start using my GPS please help me...

like Igo, Google Maps, Bing for Mobile etc etc...

Heechee. I hope things are going well for the changes. Do you happen to know the reg keys that need to be changed to get the SMS working again? Perhaps you could upload a ROM with just that fixed? It's kicking my butt not being able to respond to SMS's

And unfortunately Serbia is not on the list of paypal countries, I will try to solve that problem soon, but I'm not doing this because of the money :) I like TreoPro and it sucks that almost everybody gave up on that device :)

I know that right now I have a lot to learn about cooking but every day we are closer to the perfection :)

What I'm trying to do in this rom:

- skip intro screen (it will do automatic calibration, maybe that is causing freeze issues with some rom's)
- fix sms issue
- Playback from SD card (this could be a problem rom-hw but will try to fix it with more buffer allocated for SD)
- disabled power management for SD (it wouldn't turn it off to save power) - this however may affect battery life
- garbled screen (found WM7 theme for 320x320)
- disable error reporting
- disable automatic update
- disable customer feedback
- optimize network settings

will write more when I make new break :)

28014 full version 1st try cooked :)

now having problems with Win7 Titanium :)

will try to fix it and after that will cook Naked rom :)
