The only issue for me is the bugs on taskbar.

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28008 Rom WWE

Hey Heechee! Just installed the naked ROM:
- SMS problem seems to be fixed.
- By "Skip intro screen" do you mean the palm and windows mobile boot screens? I know there is a setting that you can use within the Advanced Configuration Tool to disable those, so there must be a registry key.
- On the playback problem from the MicroSD card, I've noticed that on every Windows Mobile ROM that I've tried. The interesting thing is that it's only a problem in Windows Media Player. I've been using Microfi Nitrogen (a very cool player developed over at the xda-developers forum) and there's no buffering problem whatsoever. Anyway, the buffering problem with WMP still exists... I wonder if there is a buffer setting specifically for WMP. Have you been able to recreate the problem?
- Garbled clock on today screen still there.
- The autocomplete isn't working in SMS's. It was working in the 2.0 release... not sure what changed.

Suggestions/Requests:
- Put Java, Perfman, Modem Link, My Treo, Sim Manager and Sprite Backup into the "System Tools" folder on the Start menu.
- Is there an easy tool to customize the "Start Menu" in WM6.5.x? That would be nice to be able to move things around easily.

I'll let you know if I spot any more things. Thanks for your hard work... you're making a good phone better.

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

I feel like Wile E. Coyote sometimes :)

- skip intro screen with calibration and all other stuff I tried to cook, but it seems like I'll have to try again :)
- I read almost everything I could find about wmp and big cards and tried to implement all advices that I could find
- garbled clock is still there because theme implementation did not work so I removed it until I find one that is working on 320x320
- I'll try to fix it and strange thing is that I removed all custom settings for sms so there is no reason why this changed...

- taskbar issue is hapening over and over, and I tried to implement whole new taskbar look but with no success, so probably it will be fixed when I find and learn how to change whole taskbar
- Icon placement is one of the things which bothers me, I did manage to make folders and place icons there but they also remained on the main screen, and I have to fix that :)

I hope I'll find time today-tomorrow to try to sort out issues ;)

So first of all thanks a lot HeecheeSCG for this new ROM :)
What I noticed :
- the tob bar icons are strange (have a look at the screen shot)
- the 4 columns arrangement in the start menu is great
- there are still some tools like Adobe Reader, MyTreo, Quick Tour, etc. installed even if you call it a "naked" ROM (I thought there were no applications)
- the waiting cursor is very nice

...and I'll try to test as many options/programs as I can to give you a new feedback soon :king:

HeecheeSCG 12-14-2009 10:52 AM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

I'm aware about the screen issue on main screen and trying to solve it from the 0.0 version, no luck so far whatever I try, I hope that maybe new theme and taskbar icons will solve that.

About the programs, that are treo's apps for which I did not yet found a soulution to remove, so it is naked as it could be so far.

It is sometimes very hard to do something on this rom because there is so little info about TP and how to do things, so everything is done in very small steps...

I'm giving my best...

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

Heechee, you're doing great. The SMS autocomplete started working again after set the "suggested words" in the Input field and restarted. Perhaps that defaulting to "0" is what is causing it not to work.

Thanks for the heads up on the process. I think some of us are unaware of which problems you're already aware of. If you have time to update the second entry in this thread, we can stop telling you what you already know and just report when we see that they are fixed.

As far as I'm concerned, the bugs in this latest release are relatively minor.

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

And I could use some help guys,

if you find theme for 320x320
and taskbar icons also (I've realized that taskbar icons for standard devices and our TP are not compatible :( ) let me know so I will try to implement them and solve some of the issues :)

I'll update the post right now with compilation of problems :)

HeeChee, use my HTCTransparent EXT package to get rid of the jumbled up QuickMenu and Clock on the home screen.

I'm using both battery icon fix and htc transparent, but it seems like they are not working, I'll try to move them in OEM from EXT to see if that will work....
Thanks for the tip :)

also I'm thinking about putting the Manila 2D what do you guys think of that?

Great news once again !
I'll give Manila 2D a try if you implement it, I'm sure it can be nice. But is it adapted to square screens ?

travisgarrison 12-14-2009 11:32 AM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

If HTC transparent makes popup menus transparent, it is working on the word suggestions... if that's not what it's for then nevermind... I just noticed it was really cool.

If you can port Manila 2D for the Treo Pro that would be AWESOME!... I might just wet my pants.

Here is what I got after installation:

http://img5.pixa.us/abb/18611151_th.jpg

and I know that the lower buttons are a mess and a problem but don't know how to re-size them :(

thom@s 12-14-2009 02:26 PM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

It's strange it seems the problem is quite the same as the one described in http://discussion.treocentral.com/tr...d-one-cab.html for people who tried to use Manila2D with RealVGA / 96 dpi ??!?

thom@s 12-14-2009 02:30 PM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

I think I've got it : did you read this : http://discussion.treocentral.com/tr...ml#post1766650 ? If you downloaded the files in the first post of this thread, they are modified to feet RealVGA / 96 dpi ;)

HeecheeSCG 12-14-2009 02:44 PM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

Yes, but I have used XML file for 128DPI :) read the instructions word by word, and everybody have the same problem in 6.5.x
you'll see that the screenshots were made on older versions :)

thom@s 12-14-2009 02:54 PM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

Arf... so no Manila2D for the moment ;-)
But hey, you already did a great job with 28014 !

I'll make tomorrow rom with manila and correct icon placement
so I would not keep you in suspense waiting for it, and then continue to work on other issues :)

I found new manila also but first I'll make this one to work in cooking :)

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

Overall a great rom.
Couple of issues I would like to mention on v3 rom.
1. Some time locked screen can not be unlocked using the center button. I have to pull the battery out.
2. From the pictures shortcut on home screen if I select any image get error: "There is no application associate with ..."

HeecheeSCG 12-15-2009 07:21 PM

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

Guys sorry I'm not very productive today I know you are waiting but I just can't concentrate today... :(

for manila instalation I need to install 2 files - reset device - install 3rd - reset and then somehow apply theme and replace settings xml file and today is one of the days when nothing is going as it should :(

BTW total size of this files:
1. Manila320Square.CAB 6,4 M 14.12.2009 17:18 -a--
2. 2d.Manila.Engine-Beta-0.09.cab 12,0 M 14.12.2009 17:22 -a--
3. M2DC_v0.29.235.CAB 748,9 k 14.12.2009 17:49 -a--
Project_No1_Transformer.m2dct 4,0 M 21.07.2009 15:31 -a--
4. HTCHomeSettings.zip 9,3 k 14.12.2009 17:49 -a--

A lot of space... I have to figure out if it is possible to install files on SD card during first boot so we could have some RAM space available...

Re: Heechee's TreoPro GSM 28014 Rom WWE & older

Heechee, no worries about needing more time. I think everyone has those days... I can probably speak for all of us in saying that you are doing great and when you get stuff done, you get it done.

One way that you might be able to free up some extra space in the rom is by removing a bunch of the unneeded alerts, sounds, tones, images, etc found in the Windows folder. Perhaps you could provide a separate zip file with those files in there in case some people want to add the ones they like back in there.

Also, I don't know if this is doable, but there are a bunch of packages installed like Perfman, Sim Toolkit, Advanced Configuration Tool and others that could be removed after you've customized the registry with the changes that you made to the ROM and if people wanted them, I don't think the cabs are too difficult to install.

Also, you've mentioned before that it's not known how to remove some of the packages from the ROM, but there are several that I'd bet could be removed:
- Windows Media Player (not likely but would be nice to include a properly functioning audio player like Nitrogen)
- Messenger
- Bing
- MSN Money
- MSN Weather (Most people would probably prefer Titanium Weather anyway)
- Windows Live
- My Treo
- Sprite Backup
