Re: Want WP7 Mango today ?
Yep, after using it this weekend, I gotta say that I am absolutely LOVING THIS!
With Mango, I feel like I *almost* have everything I want... all I need is a full-featured Remote Desktop app (gotta support Network Level Authentication, SSL encryption, and RDP Gateways), SWYPE, and Visual Voicemail. I figure SWYPE is still the least-likely to happen anytime soon, but I do like the WP7 keyboard. I also have the Arrive, so having a slide-keyboard is nice, although I have yet to use it. None of these are showstoppers to me, though, and frankly it's the experience of using the platform that impresses me most. It's fast, it's simple, and it's efficient... exactly what I was lacking from Android. Honestly, my biggest hangup so far is that I want the HD7 instead of the Arrive just for the form-factor.

I also, as a MCSE and systems admin for years wish for a good RDP application from Microsoft. There are some things that 6.5 had that you still can't get on WP7 but, it's 100% getting there it's just going to take time. I even signed up for the App Hub this weekend, I think I will start looking into building apps(if I can get XNA and silverlight down pretty good)... Some cool stuff could happen here and I look forward to the progress of WP7 passionatley.

I don't think you could send videos as attachments in NoDo either. Not sure why they limited this, but it seems they haven't changed that for Mango...or at least not yet.

Re: Want WP7 Mango today ?
I'm having an issue playing songs from artists that I have multiple songs from...
Like go to an artist you know you have multiple songs for. click on the artist and it'll bring you to their albums. then flick over to go to the song listing and try to play a song. When I do that, it'll play a song from the artist, but its not the song I clicked on. If I go through the albums and click on a song, then it works. |

Re: Want WP7 Mango today ?
So far I really like the Mango installation. Everything seemed to get installed without a hitch.
The Wi-Fi still doesn't let me do an Ad-Hoc connection. Oh well, I can only hope. I wish I could install the HTC app but It's not available and it's not able to be sideloaded that I know of. I can't believe how fast going in and out of normal OS operations has become. You basically click on something and you're there - I'd like to see some fandroids or appleheads try to beat that! Really digging the combined inboxes. Sure makes checking e-mail and responding a whole lot easier. Separate, but integrated. I've only had one issue with my Arrive resetting on me. I was downloading a pdf attachment through e-mail and it reset. I hope it doesn't happen too often, but hey this is a beta so I've gotta be patient - I do love how things have even been able to become smoother than before. Still hoping they beef up the calendar functionality. About the only thing I noticed was entering an appointment right into the day view on the calendar. The to-do thing is a welcomed addition and I hope they work on a lot more additional options for that. I LOVE the redesigned dialer as you just have a toggle now between the keypad & options. Only makes sense and the larger buttons to answer & end a call rocks. Downloading podcasts directly over Wi-Fi has been a big blessing. Now I don't need to worry about going to sync with laptop or plugging the power in it to wait 10 minutes to sync with Zune. Get's right to the point! If there's any that haven't installed the Mango beta I'd recommend just going ahead and doing it. I deleted all of my music from my phone and deauthorized it from Zune before doing the upgrade so that I didn't need to back it all up. Made things a little faster. Will get it all on later. Thanks again all for the recommendation. WP7 rocks! |
