Re: WHY does anyone want WP7?
Windows Phone 7 is a PRETTY OS. Beautiful even. Android is just plain ugly. No one picks up an android phone, starts playing with it at the store and says 'oh WOW'. Its a confusing, unintuitive UI. Badly designed, just like all Google software. Most of it looks like it was designed by an Engineer rather an a UI expert /designer.
Palm's Web OS is also so beautiful. I am worried Windows Phone 7 will go the way of Web OS..beautiful but with not enough support from the app community to make it a truly great OS. Web OS is similar to WP7 at launch in that it lacks features common in just about every other phone. No Copy Paste? Seriously? Also the hardware is relatively unimpressive thusfar. The WP7 phones are just meh. The Palm Pre was a beautiful design. It should not have been launched right now. They obviously rushed it for the Holiday season. It needed another 6 months-year of development to make it truly amazing and fully functional. I am hoping that WP7 ends up being successful, we need something BEAUTIFUL as an alternative to iPhone..Android is ugly as sin, plain and boring. |

Good write-up and it was exactly what I was looking for with this thread... it's usefulness. In your write-up I see you encountering the same roadblocks that I noticed from the first moment I picked up a wp7. The tiles, the screen space, the real estate... it just seems wasted... and as the tiles and apps list grows it just gets dumb, so they needs ta fix that shite outright. Endless scrolling is not an option. I have over 150 programs on my winmo which I can get to any program in about 4 taps... can you imagine on wp7? Bottom line is its in its infancy as we've said all along and if someone has the vision to see where they are trying to go with it then thats great, but I consider myself quite imaginative and I just look at these tiles (and the overall package truthfully) and I just dont see it... not for years. If, and most likely when, they open some things up maybe we can get somewhere, but at last count, they just keep saying "NO" Sorry, but I just compare where we were with like the "carousel" feature on spb mobile shell to these tiles and it feels like an asteroid impacted, civilization was lost and all our technology was buried and we're rebuilding from scratch... So Ill wait with fingers crossed, but as mentioned in an earlier post my apache is still holding strong... if it goes out I just hope either the TP2 is still available or they have made some kind of progress and at least advanced wp7 to be comparable with fisher price

Re: WHY does anyone want WP7?
BTW... if anyone hasnt seen this video you may want to take a look. I find it highly informative of how a fluid interface should look when they compare an iphone to a wp7 device, side-by-side. If I was forced at gunpoint to pick one Id rather go with, I'd have to pick the apple style better and Im not even an apple user... so take that for whats it worth.

Re: WHY does anyone want WP7?
I hear you... The Datsun was a great car too.
Too bad Nissan had to go and mess things up. p. |

Re: WHY does anyone want WP7?
Did they mess things up? I dont think they did. They built upon what was already known. Did they tear it down to the core and reinvent the automobile or did they enhance and improve what they had? I dont see Nissan's name all over the Flux Capacitor 5.7 Liter, still using a combustion engine last time I looked.
