Android, Apple no thanks for many personal reasons, but lo and behold here comes WP7 and I find out that for all practical purposes... it seems they are just copying apple and android
No multitasking
No Outlook sync
No Hot swap SD card support
No cut and paste
No File System Access
No real customizations
No backwards compatibility
No Tethering
H*ll the first one Ive seen for sprint doesnt even have dual cameras
No No No No NO is all they are giving...
So I mean seriously... WHY does anyone want WP7? Is there something good about it that I am missing and IM not talking about the hardware because they could have included that in any phone... WTF am I missing? What's the good?

1. How come I'm checking twitter and listening to zune pass in the background right now?
I don't want multitasking for everything. I want smart multitasking with proper save state added.
2. I think you can outlook sync using exchange. Thinking about it myself.
3. Something wrong with all the usb drives floating around? 16gb plus 25gb of skydrive should be enough for most considering you don't need mb's of space of cab files to fix a broken OS.
4. Haven't missed it yet. When I click on an address it opens bing, when I click on a link it opens IE. Since I don't have to copy a link, to open it in a different browser, I haven't needed it.
5. Why do you need that again??? As long as zune handles the multimedia and skydrive handles all the documents, why do you need to tell it where to put things? My wife, god love her, can't find anything with file explorer anyways. I have to create shortcuts on the home screen to her movies, and music, and games.
6. As long as they add custom ringtones, this once again is not an issue for me. I don't need fancy homescreen layouts that will just bog the phone down (ala sense)
7. That's because they don't want broken winmo apps being added into wp7. They want all apps to follow the metro theme and the effects of this are amazing.
8. Really? Microsoft has always said that is a carrier decision and the carriers can add an app for that if they choose. Already been found on 2 of the phones. What you really mean is: No free tethering where I can cheat on my data plan???
Don't care about front facing cameras, I have webcams on all 4 of my laptops and don't want to facetime or qik.
For a 1.0 brand new OS release, I would say its further along than android 1.0 or ios 1.0

well Android has been out longer..once wp7 2.0 comes out im sure some apps wont work with 1.0...
If I look at TouchWiz UI on android its fairly straight forward for all the basic things...
So it varies...but overall its obvious M$ dont care about us anmore and is after the general consumer...

considering the minimum phone requirements and the rules microsoft has laid out, I don't think apps working across all devices will be a problem. Reason apps don't work across android is lack of minimum specs on the phones.
as far as android phones running smooth, you have to root and add a lagfix to make the vibrant smooth. That's about as top end an android phone as is out there right now.

but didn't everyone complain about ms before? well, they listened and started from scratch. am I the only one that sees this lol, the iphone is popular because it's easy to use and works out the box....ms did the same. I talked bad about it until I used it...they're off to a good start.

I'm loving it so far...

Absolutely nothing impressive because all it was... was a phone, mp3 player, pic viewer and text messager... it didnt feel like windows, didnt look like windows, didnt act like windows... and will some of the speed slow down after apps are installed yup... is it buggy straight outta the box... yup. I think the gTen was right... if you look at it for what it is... right now, ppl are buying it bc its Microsoft... not bc of anything it can do better than anyone else because it doesnt DO a single thing right now. Defintely has potential... but it took at least 5 years before to get ce to wm5 and at least another 3 to get to 6.5. I accept the fact that MS abandoned us. Them starting over... to me, just seems like same ol MS. I guess the subject of my post has been answered. Buy WP7 now and get basic phone tools with zero apps available and more of an inconvenience to accomplish simple tasks... or get a Touch Pro 2 and just use it til they actual have a functioning, integrated piece of software. Cant even pull up your contacts from your phone app... wow!

I have about 100 apps and games installed and the phone is just as fast as day 1.
How is the tp2 integrated? Facebook isn't integrated, pics aren't integrated. You have to have different music players for different things.

That's not the forum way. you are supposed to bash the phone based on never having used it because everyone else is.

Add that to the list of NO's
They could have added cut and paste... they had the time and money... they just chose to put the time and money into blocking porting, blocking tethering, blocking file system access... etc etc etc
MS doesnt owe me or any of us a single thing... it's their company and they can design as they see fit... I just wanted to know why anyone even wants this software any more... wanted to know if anyone had a valid reason or vision. I guess that answer may only come once the hackers get into it and rip it apart, but for right now the answer is cuz it has potential, so Ill get my TP2 for now and wait a couple of years to see where it develops.

You think maybe they are restricting it to prevent piracy??? Maybe the same reason skyfire said there would never be a 2.0 release for winmo and symbian because there is no way to prevent the program from being pirated?

I'll probably get a used HD7 in early 20100 for a decent price anyways.
I don't understand what you're implying that the HD2 can't do "4 touch points" it's just drivers built on a capacitive screen right? The HD7 doesn't have some new screen technology the HD2 doesn't have does it?
software developers aren't going to upgrade their stuff to WP7, they are leaving WM6.x FOR WP7 and iOS because you can actually make money on those apps, unlike the no money to be made on WM6.x

You can sideload all the crappy unverified apps you want on your phone. I want apps that can actually pass the microsoft marketplace tests. Official apps will not be able to be sideloaded due to the security in place and you can only sideload 5-10 apps anyways since all this "unlock" did is turn your phone into a developers phone.

Cant add files to my phone that arent approved extensions... whaaaat? I dont want my stuff broadcast all over for the world to hack into (not naive to think they cant hack me, but certainly broadcasting it and storing it in one place as opposed to safe in my own home and disconnected from the internet is better??? - anti logic). It seems that MS spent more time trying to keep us out of there business (no, no, no, no, no) and more time trying to get into our business (everything is synced and linked publicly), then they did actually presenting a product that consumers are going to fall in love with and does what their core wanted and still brought in new consumers. A simple setting to make the interface either simplistic or advanced... thats all they had to do and they would have had the best of both worlds. They are not gonna lure anyone over from apple and android when they are just offering the same thing the apple and android users already have... they are not gonna lure in the core winmo users that have stood by them the last decade when all they offer are restrictions... so really who is their target market? I see it as a fail... who wants WP7? All I can say is hopefully they drop a bombshell when they release their first upgrade cuz if all the update consists of is that "you can copy and paste now..." color me still disappointed. I hope they fatten up the system by leaps and bounds

do you really think that your home computer connected to the internet is more secure than microsoft servers???

First you have to get the epic, then you have to find the lag fix for it (does the epic even have the lag fix???), but first you have to root it.....
