Re: Windows Phone 7... Doomed?

I will say, and yes, there will be skeptics, that from recent findings on WP7 it is safe to say that even if it's not doomed, it is a joke.

Re: Windows Phone 7... Doomed?

I say god no. A well thought out operating system that meshed to consumers immediately after released, that made the ioS and google android look stale in comparison. The simplicity of the ui concept, speed on the final devices are something to be marveled at.
It is a farcry from windows mobile, but it may be the OS that makes me happy to say I don't have to cook a rom for a while.
I don't use the social function much nor do I use the gaming applications, but gpu does make a difference and microsoft has focused directly on these aspects.
I sy kudos microsoft for marketing a new OS in a time where there are several - and the OS may be top dog

The problem is we are going two ways at once, its almost as twisted as say "Fallout 3". Our hardware is racing into the future with great devices and Snapdragons and epic screens, but our software is pulling us back to like the 1,900s AD or something. This hardware could to so much, but sadly, the devices that run WM7 will be nothing more than wasted potential if somebody doesn't port Windows Mobile 6 or at very least Android over to them.

howso? we have devices (namely the hd2, toshiba tg01, and other hd2 variants like the oboe) that run exactly those specs for wp7 devices and many still have issues with each device due to the limitations and dated coding from wm. So how is the potential of what wp7 can be wasted if much of the code is rewritten specifically for current devices running snapdragon processors and not running (so much) code with horrible limitations?

Well, these are more or less UI limitations I am talking about. When I say this next part, I may sound heartless and cruel, but don't take it the wrong way please. People need to learn how to use touch screens, or we wouldn't have WM7 5 buttons on a single screen and toilet paper scrolling.
IMO.

the same toilet paper scrolling is on wp 6.5 and 6.5.5 builds as well. and the requirements for wp 6.5 was 4-5 buttons. I think people adjust depending on the tastes of the phone. I don't think that's the issue. In my eyes there is no reason why microsoft isn't pulling as much marketshare as android (and I still contend android is crap and quite comparable to the dated code of windows phone 6.5 and that's sad), and it would be pulling said share if it was marketed properly. The droid does commercials, why didn't microsoft think of that?

I know. That's why I use WM6.1.

As far as commercials go, "Windows Mobile Does" would have been interesting at worst.

I guess we adjust to what is there, and apple took a slightly tight grip on the market, and that right there is the root of the problem: apple started this toilet paper nonsense.

M$ is not aiming for Android, they are aiming at Apple...I do not think WP7 will take much of Androids market share as the user base is different..that said WP7 is gonna have a big fight on their hands mostly if the rumor is true about the iphone on all carriers.

Also, Android code is in no way dated...most issues with Android are attributed to battery and ram..if we got some upgraded tech that would even double the battery storage and double the ram it would be a beast of its own. While I do support setting minimum hardware requirements I do not see limited and strict OS is the future...as proof..even the iphone year by year is opening up more and more..
