Re: Capacitive Screen vs Resistive Screen

The AMO-LED screens are supposed to be brighter and consume much less energy too. Can the AMO-LED be used in both capacitive and resistive touch screen configurations? I would think it could be, but I dont know for sure. I'm sure the glass is more resistive to scratches, but I'd probably have a screen protector on it either way.

Yes the AMOLED screens can be used with both Capacitive or Resistive touch screens. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy (hopefully will share alot of DNA with the Samsung Instinct Q) has a capacitive screen and AMOLED. Seems like a winning combination for battery life and visibility

Re: Capacitive Screen vs Resistive Screen

Based on the information you've shared I'd have to vote for capacitive being the future. Even WM6.5 and 7 are going towards a more finger friendly interface making the precision of resistive screens less important.

Very great write up, obviously took a lot of time to do the research... thank you!

Re: Capacitive Screen vs Resistive Screen

Makes my think what RIM is cooking up with there recent patent.

http://www.electronista.com/articles...ybrid.display/

I think that getting rid of the precision of resistive would be a shame and hopefully this would be the answer to all of our prayers! (for those that pray I guess?)

anyways great write up and clarification for those that do not know the true differences between the two.

You have a thanks for me.

Re: Capacitive Screen vs Resistive Screen

I think the real answer is a Capacitive stylus. Then you have no need for two technologies.

The resistive plus of precisions is only realized when you use the stylus, when you use your fingers on a resistive screen, it really is close to equal a capacitive screen.

Re: Capacitive Screen vs Resistive Screen

HTC has recently patented a capacitance capable stylus, so expect that in the future.

Not to nitpick, but I think what you meant to say is that it causes a change in capacitance.
