Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

You might should have kept this quiet. I'd expect new Sprint exclusion rules before long. There are a lot of Sprint employees on this site. Just my 2 cents. lol

I don't think it really matters. When GrandCentral started, people were doing this with their incoming calls. It was posted all over the place.
With GV, you are now able to do it with outgoing also. MordyT just makes it easier
Out of millions of customers, I would say that an extremely small percentage of customers utilize GV in this way.
I gotta go, I hear a knock at the door

Well I hear what you're saying but... sprint only offer's "pick 3-5" to a select few as it is... they don't advertise it... and if they do for some reason change their policy then that's a reason to wave the early termination fee for anyone who want's to leave... so damned if they do, and damned if they don't i sapose...

but I doubt they would make that move unless they some how get support from other providers and they all drop that feature at once, cuz otherwise sprint's customers could go (with ETF's waived) to one of the company who does still offer that feature... which is why sprint has "pick 3" in the first place.. to keep you from going to company's like verizon to compete with their "IN" and t-mobiles "fav5's" and alltells "my circle" but on the low in-case you threaten to leave because of it. However, I don't suggest you threaten to leave... unless you're prepared to stand behind your threat because your not guaranteed a "Pick 3" offer, again they are selective about it lol.. or it just may not occur to the rep to offer it to you at that time lol still.. be prepared for the worst result.. Murphy's law...

not to mention the gov would prolly get involved, look at whats going on between the gov, at&t, google, and apple right now due to apple denying google voice in its app store.

Personally theres nothing illegal about google voice so theres no need to be hiding away in shame about it, yes you can greatly lower ur phone bill with it if paired with the right calling plan. but its not practical for the average users, maybe some day it will be... but most ppl are a lil too lazy to learn how to use it lol... that's just my opinion tho.

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

Cellular companies make mucho dinero $$$$$.
Just look at the Congressional Hearings about Text Messaging. How it costs a penny, etc. and cellular companies charge 20 cents. Across the board. All about a Monopoly.
You should have heard the BullShi*t coming out of the mouths of the CEO's of Verizon and Atnt defending themselves.
So you're right about the Carriers not wanting to rock the boat anymore than they have.
I think we will be safe for awhile

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

@MordyT
I have an issue that I can't figure out.
Maybe you can shed some light on it:
In the set of Rules that I downloaded from your link in post #1, I deleted them (to make room for more rules) except for >
1) E911
2) Google Voice
I realize that the E911 rule is so 911 dials out normally, without using GV. So far, so good.
I have added 2 more specific numbers to that rule. Both of those numbers also dial out without GV which is great. So now there are 3 numbers in that Rule.
Initially, I set up my own Rule exactly like you set up the E911 Rule, but I named my Rule differently.
The reason is that I wanted to keep my personal Specific numbers separately from the E911 Rule. But my personal numbers were also going to dial out directly just as 911 does.
I tried to set up my own Rule 5 times, but the Specific Numbers were going thru GV. I checked my filters and operations settings multiple times.
I deleted the Rule and set it up again multiple times, but I could never get it to work. My Specific Numbers continued to use GV.
I finally deleted my new Rule and put my personal Specific Numbers in your E911 Rule, and they worked perfectly.
Can you tell me what you think was happening.
Did you set up the E911 Rule differently than I am able to?
As I said, I checked and rechecked my settings and they were the same as yours except for the Rule name.

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

the easiest way to set up a new rule is:
higlight one of the old rules (thats no GV but rather like E911)
hold down stylus so it gets pop-up menu
click copy
modify copied rule to dial the number you want.
click and hold down modified rule
click move to top

@biker
the reason its not working for you is simple:
you new rule to dial normally must be above the rule to dial out through GV

the program works in order of the rules.
simply click and hold and click move to top

let me know how it goes!

I never knew that the order of the rule mattered.
I will move the Rule and post back.
Btw, are you the Developer of Magicall?

Update:
Works perfectly.
Thanks.
