Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

I wanted to dial my Sprint voicemail normally/direct, not through GV.

Why would you want to call your Sprint voicemail through Google voice or waste one of your Pick 3 numbers to do this? Isn't it a free call anyway.

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

Thanks MordyT
I just edited my Vm post #123. I Just added my own personal choice.
Thanks for your hard work regarding sms and all.
I knew there was a reason I didn't attempt that Rule
I personally don't sms much. But I know others do by the 1000's.

Just use the one that ends with MOD in the first post - sprint voicemail regular is set up that way.
or you could copy one of the regular rules and modify it for vm.
if you need more help, don't hesitae to ask

MordyT, just loaded the MOD. It's exactly what I wanted it to do...dial Sprint voicemail direct. Thanks

Calling your voicemail is not a Free Call.
MordyT has made it easy for you to set up Magicall the way you want it regarding the set of Rules he has included in Post #1 including Exceptions, etc.
There are reasons to include or not include your Vm number with GV.
But if you have Magicall, you would have to include it or exclude it in a Rule.
See Post #123 as it was your post that prompted me to Post it

EDIT:
I just saw that you downloaded the new set of Rules.
Good to hear it's working for you.

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

I feel the need to say the following >

If someone just purchased Magicall, or does not have many Rules or Log History, or just can't figure out how to make Rules, downloading Mordy's new set of Rules is an Excellent way to go.
They are well thought out, and MordyT has put alot of time and effort into his work, and he continues to do so, so you wouldn't have to
I know what it is like to put together new rules. Some can breeze thru them while it will take alittle more time for others.
There are those who will get frustrated and may not use Magicall to its full potential.
MordyT is not only making Rules, he is making a Generic set of Rules, which is much more difficult to do, which can be used by anyone.
In addition, he is attempting to make a generic SMS Rule, which is even that much more difficult to accomplish.
So download away and you won't regret it
And don't forget to Thank him

A 406 area cose number came up and you answered and they gave you the varification code. All that is unimportant. However, someone showed me that everyone who has a GV number has a special 406 number that they have for life. Google has assinged that number to them in their servers (however it works) I saved mine and you could call it and it will goto me. Everyone that calls you GV number also gets a 406 number. you could call it and it will goto them. The tricky part of all this is getting their 406 number. I am looking for a way easier way of getting the 406 number. You need that 406 number to send a sms without having to goto GV website.

Second, my rules set is huge. Just clearing out some rules and realseing it won't work because some of my rules are dependant on others. I tried just deleting the numbers and it stopped working. I am trying to clean up the dependancies and be done with it but it is hard.

I don't have an ETA for the realse set with SMS, but i do have some nice rules that are for eveyone that require almost no config. Tjose of you who like to play around in MagiCall won't care as you have set up everything i am adding, those of you who just want to drop in the rules set and go (after changing ur gv number and pin part) are going to like them. See you all later.

EDIT:
btw biker1, great post about the VM, ye got thanked
MordyT,

Your understanding of the google 406 numbers is not accurate.

When somebody texts your GV number, it will come in as a 406 number, and you can reply to that number and it will be routed to them. However, that number is only unique to them when coming from your phone.

If you text that number from another phone, for example, it will not go to that person.

Unfortunately, GV does not have enough 406 numbers for everyone to have one, so they have developed this very creative way of assigning your contact with a 406 number. When sent from your phone, they know to route that number to the proper recipient.

The 406 number gets assigned when a contact first sends a text to your GV number. There is no known way of getting your contacts "pre-assigned".

you

Rereading that post, i realize i was very unclear. What i was trying to say was you could send to the 406 number and it woul go through gv w/o magicall.

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

Hi Mordy, not sure if this has been mentioned, but in the tutorial it says to put the rule in "/device/my document", and I believe it should be "/device/my document/magicall". I know most people would probably figure it out on their own, but I guess Im not that smart because I kept putting the file in mydocuments and having nothing happen lol.
