knewbee4lyfe: The battery life on the iphone is horrible. the 3g and 3gs both have a gps, and the 3gs also has a compass. I have been able to tether but i wouldnt suggest it. You can also download an app that will allow you to use 3g to do everything wifi does, including downloading apps larger than 10mb. On att it only cost me $30 per month more than when i had a winmo phone. When I switch from a 3g to a 2g area it just switches. no lost calls or anything. only if i turn off 3g completely will i temporarily lose service. When i need to restore it i just plug it in and it will put back all of my apps. Im not trying to convince people that the iphone is the way to go. Many things people say about the iphone arent true, and i wanted to make sure people knew they werent.
When you said that it wasnt finger friendly you were talking about winmo right?

The iphone and AT&T are great if you have your phone plugged into a charger and are standing directly under an AT&T tower. Try a Droid out. You'll never look back.

When I had the iPhone, the battery life was actually pretty good. And I never had a problem with service, of dropped calls or anything.
I guess it would all depend on your area, in my area AT&T service is actually pretty good.

Yeah my iphone is excellent with battery life.. My battery on my Diamond lasted for about 2-3 hours with heavy usage.. but on the iphone I get 5-6 hours on heavy usage.. And also the phone doesn't get Scorching hot like my diamond used to..

I also have not had to soft reset or reset my phone at all since getting it, and it still runs just as strong... With my diamond I had to soft reset at least once or twice a day due to it locking up on me..

Service wise, so far I have had no dropped calls and 3g has been very fast (faster than EVDO) ever was for me..

I love my new phone and am not looking back at the WM phones that I have owned in the past... As I said before I too hated the Iphone, just because everyone who had one always seemed to have a better than you attitude but this phone is really really really good..

I see your points completely, but my questions/concerns are:

1) So are your songs/videos legal ?? As a SWAT officer, being caught with illegal materials isnt worth it...heh...Also what kind of example is that for me to be setting....I do buy songs and also rip my own cd`s into itunes, but mainly I buy episodes of Robot Chicken, Code Monkeys and paintball videos to watch....

2) Even on my slower machine Ive never had to wait for my library to load....Not sure what you mean on that one boss...

3) AVG and Windows Defender have never picked up iTunes sending out unless I make a request... Yes they (Apple) slip in their ads when they can, but its still better than the thousands of viruses on Limewire and similar programs... I fix PC`s on the side, and just from reformats and cleanups I almost paid for my kids Christmas due to peer-to-peer downoading virus issues....

4) I just tell it I dont want the toolbar and Safari when I install it....Done deal...

Im no fan of Apple by any means, but calling iTunes the worst program ever is a bit of a stretch... :neutral:

bc when you turn off 3g... where do you go? 4g? no 2g... which switches... from what i said b4... 3g>2g...

and btw... the iphone will hold on the a 1 bar 3g service.... instead of switch over to a 4/5 bar 2g service. thats why people always called in.

i don't know very many people that carry around their desktops on business trips. specially those who have business only use laptops. that spend more than 3 days out of home. (after i posted my reply... i actually updated the flash to my phone... by dl into memory card. and flashing from there) then i reinstalled all my contacts and programs... that were over 10 megs big... can you do that w/ your IPHONE? or would you have to wait until you get back home?)

i said fat finger friendly. and my tp and soon tp2 ... is still ff friendly...

btw... don't get me wrong... when ever my friends come by w/ an IPHONE ... i always check it out... bc they have cool games. they always try taking it back so I DON'T KILL ALL OF THE BATTERIES... aaand thats about it!

oh and the charging???? i can switch off w/ motorola, older blackberrys and all kinds of other phones for chargers... as long as it has mini usb... but thats an imposibility w/ iphones... cuz you have to have an ipod/itouch/iphone charger.

btw... no come backs for not having a phone for 2 weeks when they need to repair it... and you have to pay for both ways in shipping (sometimes)?

he's not talking about the library loading... he's talking about updating... #2... it doesn't have to be stolen... but say u ripped music from a cd you had before... or someone had a playlist that saaay... you had before. or you liked... or... you wanted to borrow to listen to and if you liked it you would buy some of the songs on there... what happens when u attach you ipod/touch/phone to the computer? first thing it says is it is needs to delete everything in your phone cuz you can only be allowed to connect to 1 computer at a time.

and he's talking about updates... updates updates... from 1.010.101. blah blah blah. 4... to all but .5... and next week its .6... if its not itunes then its the player.

listen... there's this assumption that apples/mac's are not virus safe. the reason that rarely any virii are messing w/ apples... is plain and simply... it wasn't written for that type of machine. microsoft windows, are the most popular OS running on 95% of all computers world wide. (assumption on percentage) so why would you build a worm/trojan/spyware that only affects less than 1% of the systems? that's my opinion. correct me if im wrong.

like i said... not really flaming on iphone... just apple all together... and their misconception of better than thou attitude.

btw... itunes isn't the only place you can buy music and videos... so it doesn't matter if your swat, popo... deydey or jenny from the block... usage of itunes is not necessary. try zune...

Well most of what you posted I agree with you. But there are ways to make an iPhone be able to sync with multiple iTunes libraries...need to jailbreak it, but any phones needs to be hacked/modded/reflashed to make it truly customized and perfect for an individual.

I have absolutely nothing against iPhone or WinMo phones. I like them both.
I have used and owned them both.

People keep saying that WinMo is so much better or iPhone are the best.
Neither of those statements are true.

I can only speak from personal opinion but here it is.

First lets take a look at WinMo. GREAT devices. Can do ALOT with them, but with how long pocketPCs have been around you would think Microsoft would be able to have the WinMo OS better than it is. But it's not as advanced as it could be, and that's because the demand wasn't really there until the past few year when touch screen/smartphones have become the normal device.
I mean WinMo is not fully finger friendly. Sure there are interfaces that make it initially finger friendly, but there are still LOTS of areas where you need to use the stylus. But WinMo 6.5 is a bit more finger friendly, and hopefully WinMo 7 will be fully finger friendly.
Customizing the WinMo phones? Easily done, until you get into flashing new ROMS. And obviously people aren't happy with the stock ROMs, why else are all the non-stock ROMs are created here and at xda-developers?

Now let's talk about the iPhone. It's a great device, simple to use and with Apple's marketing of it, there are TONS on apps for it. For example is there a Direct TV appplication for WinMo? I only know of being able to go to the mobile site to set your Direct TV DVR to record shows, yet there's an iPhone app for it.
Yes, customizing means jailbreaking it, which is actually very simple to do now and unlocks the full potential of the phone. Now to reiterate, to fully unlock the potential of a WinMo phone, alot of people on this site would say "you need to flash a custom ROM"....so what's the difference really?


Now Apple did WinMo a favor by making the iPhone in the first place. If the iPhone was not made, does anybody think that WinMo phones would be at the point they are now? Cause I really don't think they would. Microsoft and other companies had to do something to compete with iPhone, before there was no real need to.

So if somebody is a die-hard WinMo fan and totally against the iPhone, just remember to show some thanks to Apple basically making touchscreen/PDA/smartphones the norm thus making Microsoft/PALM/RIM to step it up and create stuff that can compete with it.
