Re: HTC Incredible, how many switching?

simple really, i couple companies that i work with have proprietary wm programs that require onscreen signatures which will be impossible to use on android. basically the incredible will be for personal/play and the tp2 will just be a business rig

Re: HTC Incredible, how many switching?

It would probably be at least a few more month if not a year till we got a fully working android on the TP2...

That said I am wondering one thing..Since they are releasing the Incredible so soon..what is Google waiting for in releasing their Nexus One on verizon...It really doesn't make sense here why they are taking so long :/..Once the incredible is out no one is gonna bother going for a Nexus One on verizon..or at least most...unless your a developer and google send you one free...

I'd like to start by saying thanks for your reply and the great links; however, this was originally posted in the TP2 Android Dev forum but was moved by Mr. X. This is not an android vs winmo, but rather a TP2 with the android port vs the new Incredible that is coming out. I was more curious to see if people were going to wait out the TP2 android port or if they were going to go with the instant gratification of the Incredible. Please understand the topic that you are posting in before you make snide remarks to people about searching the forums before posting. It does nothing to help the OP and is detrimental to the community.

That being said, Redd why keep both phones, are you going to just use the TP2 as a backup, (insert x reason here)? Let us know!
I was in no way trying to make a snide remark regarding searching, I often make a similar comment when coming across new threads that have similar threads already in existance. I didn't say it in a condescending or rude way and also offered links to show what I was talking about to better explain my thoughts on the subject.

As for the topic, I read the entire thread prior to posting my original reply; the only thing I did not know was what forum this thread originated in. I don't understand how my actions are detrimental to the community when I spend all my free time here trying to help members get the most out of their phones and services.

Everyone that I know who is on WinMo and using the Android port is excited about one or more current or upcoming native Android devices, while at the same time most are also a little apprehensive about the possibility of changing their primary OS. I was merely trying to show that those feelings are normal and that most of us that have moved to Android are very satisfied with the move and do not plan on going back to WinMo.

If you would like to discuss this any further with me, I would ask you to PM me, and we can continue that way. If you do not want to talk to me regarding this subject, you can feel free to contact any mod or admin and discuss it with them.

I agree, the incredible has all the same specs and more, why does google think they will be able to sell the nexus to verizon users NOW when their customers can just buy the incredible plus force verizon to do crazy discounts?

I have to assume that it is not necessarily Google that is holding it up, but rather the two companies coming to a mutual agreement on cost, services, etc. Google is like any other company and out to make money. Their track record doesn't make me think that they are waiting to be jerks or something, because they have to be watching the market and know about the Incredible and its upcoming release.

I blame the bureaucratic politics of two large corporations trying to make sure that they each have their respective butts covered to the fullest.

Re: HTC Incredible, how many switching?

I was wondering if the Sense UI for the Incredible will affect apps like PandaHome?

Re: HTC Incredible, how many switching?

It's either you use Sense OR you use Panda/Open/etc. They won't work together.

Re: HTC Incredible, how many switching?

I'm jumping ship from my Touch Pro 2, I love my TP2 but I would love to have access to all the apps Android is getting and the features and Android OS is one of my main reasons for wanting the Incredible.
I will be keeping my TP2 since i do alot of Manila mods and i'm currently still working on a few, and the fact i can switch back and forth and vice versa is a plus, :P

Key features that interest me:

1GHZ
3.7 AMOLED multitouch
Full Sense UI
Android 2.1 OS
8MP dual LED flash camera
720p video recording? (need confirmation on this one)
Live Wallpapers!? :P
Style of the device
Optical trackball!! (no ball like Nexus One)

Although I've never used Android besides on my TP2, I hope i'm making the right choice with converting over to another OS. I like Windows Mobile but if it were without Manila 2.5, I think I would throw my TP2 at a window, the UI for WinMo is terrible and app support is mediocre unless you do alot of searching for what you need.

One thing I haven't found that I use alot on my TP2 is wifi sharing, i use this alot in the car and at home, but its not a required feature.

I just really really hope the switch is worth it
