CFay 6.5 Rom! CEOS 5.2.21324 ! Windows Mobile 6.5! 1.54 FINAL Uploaded with Fixes.

I'm new to this.

I dont want to brick my comp, but I also had some basic questions. Is there a thread how to actually apply this?

From reading around the posts, it seemslike I need to first unlock my phone?

I'm with Spring and have Treo Pro. I always thought unlocking was impossible with Sprint phones and that only tmobile people enjoyed that.

So anyway how do i apply this CFAY 153.exe?

1) Run unlocker? hard spl by cmonex ? (Panther_CDMA (treo pro CDMA) Hard-SPL is here now! - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=84822)

2) Connect via Active Sync and run CFAY 153.exe ? and this will flash the rom on my Treo?


Also I read what a hard SPL is.. so is this a ROM for Treo which is identical to the original one except it allows its OS to be overwritten?

Plug in your phone via USB.

1) Unlock your phone by applying the Hard-SPL by cmonex.
2) Apply CFAY's WM6.5 rom.
It's very simple. The Hard-SPL Allows you to install a custom/unsigned ROM to your device without it being approved by your provider. You must install the Hard-SPL before you try applying the ROM.

is sprint going to kick me off? or somehow know i did an unlock and i wont be able to connect? i always thought only tmobile people could use unlocked phones.

The phone isn't "unlocked", it just removes the protection from installing unsigned roms. It is still locked to your provider.

This should be as streight forward as they come bro. Just make sure your battery has 50% or more power and that activesync can see your phone just fine. Download the unlocker program and run it and follow the prompts. Once you have unlocked your phone you should do a soft reset of your phone and backup everything on your phone. You will lose your contacts, text messages, and files on your phone if you dont back them up. Then download CFAY's 6.5 rom and install it. You should see activesync disconnect and your phone should have color'ed type bars on it because its loaded the bootloader. Once it has done this it will start to install and you can keep track of the percentage either on your phone or PC. Dont disconnect your usb cable for any reason, because if you disconnect mid-flash it might brick your phone. Also, im on sprint myself and it works perfectly fine with sprint. Worst case, you might have to reset the settings in the diagnostic menu, but I havent had to do that so I dont think you will either.

PS. Thanks to CFAY for these custom roms. I am using 1.52 atm and its working just fine for me. I just wish I knew where to find these programs and reg tweaks you guys talk about.

i am a fan of upgrading, i always upgrade because i believe in software development and improvement. but is switching from 6.1 to 6.5 an improvement?
do i gain anything? besides the austhetically pleasing.. is it faster? more stable?

this is how you can compare xp to vista (just aesthetics but sucks) versus comparing.. xp and win7 (where win7 is both visually appealing but more importantly faster and more stable!). so my question is, is the 6.5 rom an improvement in sense of speed and stability or is it just all visual graphics that people are going nuts for?

how about feature wise?

haha, after writing this post, i doa quick google search and find somebody compare wm6.5 just to that..

I am not that thrilled coz it reminds me of Vista , all new visual enhancements but a total FAIL coz it makes the system sluggish. So what do you guys think about WM6.5 ?
