Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
I believe certain cards are made with better or worse standards and those standards can affect how well it works with the bootloader ive never had a problem with sandisk and kingston
|
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
Funky SD card is also my problem.
I was trying to SD flash from a TOPRAM 16gb card without success and found my 8gb Sandisk which worked without a problem. Thanks again guys. |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
My Sandisk 4GB (class 2) and 8GB (class 4) cards work fine.
My A-Data 16GB (class 6) card doesn't. A couple of questions: - Anyone have a class 6 card of any brand and size work? - Anyone have a 16 GB card of any brand and speed work? |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
all I have is a class 4 8gb and a few 1-2 gb class 2s so one of those combinations could be the problem people are having.

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
I've read this entire thread and hoping someone can assist here........
I have a Sprint TP2 and i've been trying allllllll day to flash the brand new energy ROM. I can get all the way to a white Loading.... screen, but it just sits there and wont go further. I have the entire Energy ROM loaded up on my micro card (4 GB). I have tried using a laptop connection (synch) and stand-alone. Same thing happens, Loading... is all i get. Here are things i know: 1. Its named correctly and in the "root" (empty) space. 2. I've checked the synch in settings and also made sure encryption is off. 3. I formatted the card (twice) using Fat32. One other question. Do i need to back up my contacts before this? Thanks, Glade |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
yes, backup your contacts first, I reccomend using ppcpimbackup, and or google sync (setting up your gmail as an exchange server). as far as for it still not working, the last thing I can say is try a different sd card and if you still have no luck try using nuestorage to format your card.

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
i wish i could figure this out again.
I know the micro card works, i can run apps off it. I formatted again w/FAT32 and ONLY loaded the RHODIMG.nbh file and left the rest on my laptop. This time i used the .exe utility, hit next, next, etc.. and it went into loader. From that it immediately went to the white, Loading... screen and sat there. Eventually the .exe loader program timed out and it told me that i either had a USB to phone connect failure, or vice-versa. I've rechecked all the other settings previously mentioned (encryption, etc..) and they still are good. ughhhhhhhh!! |

Also just becaues you can run apps via your sd card, doesn't mean the card can flash, its an unknown reason why some cards just can't seem to flash, but it usually ends up being a "bargain" brand of card. the spl is just really particular with what it looks for it seems. |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
Hi guys,
I tried both. I have tried flashing using ONLY the phone with the ROM placed in the card and pressing down volume/start. It goes to Loading.... and just sits there. I have also tried flashing by leaving the phone connected via usb to the laptop and running the .exe flasher. Following the command prompts to flash this way, I get the 0 - 100 scale to pull up on my laptop screen, but it never moves. On the phone, same as always, i get Loading... I am using a Sandisk 4 GB card. In both methods i made sure the right file was in root, no encryption, etc... -Mark |

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
Hi again,
I did read the entire posting. I looked and saw that my phone was already showing unlocked when i looked in settings. I never thought that i would have to unlock it again, thats why i never tried. I guess it cant hurt, so ill give it a shot. |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
HOLY CRAP!
It works! Thanks for the help guys...... I assumed the "unlocked" in the settings was what i needed. Evidently not! I LOVE the new ROM......so much better/faster! -Mark |

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
Been following your directions to flash from sd card but phone stays on bootloader screen. a message flashes on screen "no image file" and then the phone just sits on the bootloader screen........any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for the help. |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
no image file means it cannot find the file on your card so theres a few option
A.) not on the root/base/no folder of the sd card B.) not named correctly needs to be RHODIMG.nbh download total commander to make sure file explorer isn't hiding anything from you. C.) the sd card is not formatted correctly D.) sd encryption is enabled E.) if all else fails try a new sd card sometimes people just get cards that wont work for some unknown reason, I recommend sticking with sandisk or kingston ive never had problems with those two brands. |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card

I had that same problem with AVG. When the warning pops up that says there is a virus just click "Move to Vault" and you should be good |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
its a false positive ignore it dont let antivirus touch it.

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
Thanks for this. Wish I had read this and the radio thread earlier; I was in an area where I got reception before on my TP but was only roaming on my TP2.. now I can carry around a bunch of radios just in case! 8-)

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
can you flash Stock roms like this too? like the sprint
would i just change the RUU or do i have to add the SPL signed.nbh? i would imagine if i flash just the RUU it would work but without the benefits of flashing the stock rom to clear things.. ??? |

i know that but you know how it is said to flash back to stock then flash custom... i had a problem not too long ago where the splash screen for a rom stayed after i flashed a diff rom... i flash the stock and it cleared it. i forgot how it was explained when i saw it. i think on a MM thread... even after you flash a custom rom you get some data left behind but apparently flashing a signed rom clears the internal memory... like i said, i may not understand this or know to explain what i saw... Mike suggested flashing stock then his rom after one of his roms |

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
After the flash procedure is finished it sits at the grey screen letting you know it was successful.
Is there anyway to reboot the phone now easily? A certain button sequence perhaps? I am a fairly rugged mobile user so I use a hard snap on cases to protect the phone. It is a PITA to get that cover off and then back cover and then find something to press the reset button (stylus long gone lol..) to get it to reboot. IMHO HTC made a step in the wrong direction moving the reset button behind the battery cover! Cheers. |
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
unfortunatly the only options are a battery pull and the soft reset button that I know of (both mean taking the case off) the only real alternative to taking the cover off is attempting that mod were people drill a small hole were the rest is, but there are all kinds of things that could go wrong doing that...

Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
so my usb port is defective and im running mighty rom and rather than file an insurance claim and get stuck with the $100 deductable i would like to try and take my phone back to the sprint store. im going to try and re-flash it back to the stock sprint rom via my SD card however my real question is will i be able to relock the device via the SD card?
|
Re: [HOW-TO] - - Flash a Rom or Radio on your TP2 from the SD card
while you could re-flash back to stock, unfortunatly with the new design of the unlocker and relocker not having an SSPL equivilent runnable from the phone unlocking and relocking is not possible from the sd card.
