Re: [11-19-09] [WM 6.5 & WM 6.5.3] eRice CleanROM and Kitchen <~Latest: 21876 & 2800

I never said the kitchen was the problem, because I get the same errors using 28002 with Calkulin's kitchen. I've seen other posts where 28002 was built with this kitchen so I know it works. It just isn't working on my system for some reason.

Also getting the same runtime error. Any thoughts from the creator. I'm using windows Vista 32 bit.

Same Error on Windows 7 64bit. I have tried other variations of this new kitchen interface and have had the same errors. Not sure if it just doesn't like running on Windows 7. It runs fine when I first run it but as soon as I click a single check box it errors out on build and I have to run a clean download again.

Is electronicrice viewing this thread, can you shed some light? I'd really like to build my own rom. Thanks much.

I am doing some more troubleshooting now. It seems like I was able to remove the sprint provisioning and build but when I added verizon it gave the same error.

I then removed verizon and was able to build again.

I was able to load a carrier free rom on my phone for now. I have a few ideas on what is happening but I need to do more tests.

Re: [11-19-09] [WM 6.5 & WM 6.5.3] eRice CleanROM and Kitchen <~Latest: 21876 & 2800

OK I think I figured it out, It should only affect vista systems and up with UAC, I set all the .exe files in the root and tools folder to run as administrator and its still building no errors as of yet. When I tried running the process by itself I get an erro that says "must be logging in as an administrator" Which I am but UAC is funky. So far so good. Installing the rom on my phone now. If this works for you feel free to thank me :-).

With the issues folks have been having, I just wanted to comment that I used the kitchen on Windows 7 Pro x64 last night, with UAC enabled, with no problems at all. As always, I ran the kitchen as Administrator. I didn't have any issues using the kitchen whatsoever.

In a follow up to my earlier post, battery life is comparable to other ROMs I've used, if not a bit better :)

Earlier I posted how every time I attempted a "default" build of 28002 (not changing/adding/removing any selections), and how it would give me an error when it hit the platformrebuilder. One thing I did change, however, was generic to VZW. just tried generic and it worked. hope that helps out.

ERROR! (errorlevel: -1073741819)

Generally this message is due to an EXT that was added or removed causing the build to fail. Try extracting a new copy and see if it happens again. If not then it's definitely one of the EXTs.

Press any key to continue . . . ) at platform rebuilder, even just trying to do a 28002 build without adjusting anything. suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the runtime error you're experiencing. I remember there being something that needed to be installed from Microsoft associated with a kitchen that caused it to error out, but I don't know what it was. I'm on Windows 7 64bit and I've yet to see this error message.

I haven't worked with Sense 2.5 much, but I'm sure the EXTs can be used from Calc's kitchen (as someone else had asked) and just try those.

I'm running Vista32. While watching the build in Calkulin's kitchen, the popup error occurs near the end of platformrebuilder finishing. Any insights? Or am i A moron and missed something about Vista?

Just make sure you're running it as Administrator and UAC is off. Other than that I'm really not sure. Try googling the error and see if it's been resolved by anyone else.

yeah, this kitchen is full of bugs. Deselecting modules/apps from the kitchen does not affect the build. Going back to SSK 3.0.6!

When you select or deselect an option, it's best to go to File>Refresh which will refresh the kitchen view with the changes made.

A trend I'm seeing is that most of you who are getting these errors building are VZW users. Have you tried building a generic ROM and using a carrier CAB? I know that's kind of a pain since the carrier EXT is there for Verizon, but I think that maybe this might be a cause?

yeah, i posted that making a generic rom was successful.

for me, the 28002 build is wicked laggy though. takes a few seconds to switch between manila tabs, and then a few more for the tab to load...also a few seconds to load menus...and almost three and a half minutes to fully load after soft reset.

Thats what I did and it works from there. I couldn't figure out what it was with the Verizon EXT but for now this will work.

For me, whenever I flash a new ROM, I run Clear Storage and then Hard Reset. A little overkill? Maybe. But I don't notice any laginess what so ever.

I read most of the posts, but didn't see anywhere this was asked. I am also pretty new at this still. I built my first rom tonight (just removed a few apps to allow for market place to control updates). The issue I noticed is the screen doesn't rotate into landscape mode if you rotate the phone. If i pull the keyboard out it will rotate. Also if you set the phone down it doesn't switch into speaker phone mode. Just wondering if I did something wrong or if this is known and/or if any future releases will support this feature.

I am running the eRice Kitchen v1.6 and used the build 28002 (6.5.3). I have the HTC Touch Pro 2 with Sprint. Everything else seems to be running just fine.

I did the same default build and the only thing I added/changed is the no-clock-flip manila file as well as SmartLock. I agree on the first thing you mentioned - but I actually like that. However, my phone does switch to speaker mode when I set it down. In fact, I just used it on a recent phone call. So it should work. Calibrate your G-sensor and try again. Sometimes you need to calibrate it before it works. Also, you have to put it on something that is horizontal - it won't work if you put it on something sloped or uneven.

As far as switching between landscape and portrait goes, this usually only happens when the keyboard is out, not just when the phone is rotated. I've been having an issue with the screen not rotating back to portrait when the keyboard reinserted into the phone until I got back to the today screen.

As far as the speaker phone not coming on goes, mine is pretty intermittent. It seems to work sometimes, but other times it doesn't turn on.

I do have an issue where holding the power button on the phone does not bring up the power off prompt--I may have disabled something in the kitchen that I didn't mean to though.

Anyway, I'm using SYS build 28002.

I tried the calibration last night and it didn't work. Tried it again this morning after a soft restart and still doesn't work. I then tried calibrating it again on my desk in a specific spot and then dialed my voicemail. Then placed the phone in the exact spot to calibrate it. I try creating a new rom and seeing if that helps.

I rebuilt the rom again and still not speaker phone. I guess its not that big of a deal. Hadn't really used it for this, but seemed like a cool feature. I will try it again after the next update. Thanks for the suggestion though with the calibration

I cooked a new ROM this afternoon and I've fixed all the issues I was having with the previous ROM, with one exception. The only problem I'm still having is this:

If I slide out the hardware keyboard to send a text, the screen goes landscape like normal. However, when i slide the keyboard back in, the screen does not return to portrait mode until I close out of the text message manager and return to the Today screen. Has anyone else noticed this or found a fix for it?

How does one turn on/off included items? I double click, the little folder opens/closes, I click file/refresh and it reverts back to the original way it was. I try right clicking and selecting delete, that does nothing.

Yeah I noticed the same issue. Seems like an issue with 28002, but I'll try building with another 6.5.1 and see if I can reproduce it there.

You need to make sure the items are unchecked as well. This is a different type of kitchen where the checkboxes enable and disable the options in the kitchen.

Yea, I did a search for it and found the path. Thanks for the information as well. The setting was turned on, but it ended up being my own fault. My friend told me about the feature and never knew about it before I flashed it. I ended up figuring it out from the name of the setting. I was place the phone face up instead of face down (like the option says at the path you gave me). Again thanks for all the assistnace!

What version of eRice's kitchen are you using? That file does not exist in ver 1.6.

That would explain it. Using 1.6, sorry if I missed that somewhere. I did read through this thread before posting.

After reinstalling, I'm getting a different error message than I was before anyway. I get this...

This application has failed to start because msvcr71.dll was not found.

That file is located in the Tools Folder. Check there and if not, check the rar package and extract just that file to the Tools Folder

Edit: Unless you have been deleting or messing around since last unzip, unzip whole kitchen fresh

Well, that file's actually there. I did yet another redownload/unpackage and still having the same problem. I also tried dumping the erice rom through ervius, but got a bunch of errors there too. I know you can't really edit custom roms so that was expected though.

Maybe the problem's with my pc. I'm running xp. Thanks for your help, I'm still learning about all this rom stuff, so I really appreciate it .

Well, that file's actually there. I did yet another redownload/unpackage and still having the same problem. I also tried dumping the erice rom through ervius, but got a bunch of errors there too. I know you can't really edit custom roms so that was expected though.

Here, extract this to \Windows\System32. For some reason, a lot of random programs require it, but it doesn't come preinstalled with Windows. This should alleviate that error.

Thanks for your work, really appreciate it.
