I was just trying to build bare to minimum ROM and failed to do. Now the phone cannot complete the initial installation. The bar during initial installation reaches all the way to the end but cannot go beyond that.

Can somebody help me to understand why this happened? I am hoping that tomorrow I will do the SD card trick to get the phone running. Attached is my build log...

I was wondering is it possible with this kitchen to make a 6.5 rom with tf3d 2.1 without sense?....
I hate the weatherclock and find it redundant since there is a weather tab....
Any replies are greatly apprieciated!

Yes there is a non-sense UI option in the Manila category in the kitchen. It is the stock manila 2.1 without weather clock.

Anyone have issues running 28011? I cooked it once without and once with Manilla. Both times the rom seemed to be very laggy and/or locked up for any where from 5 seconds to 20 or 30 seconds. Also couldn't get activesync to connect to an exchange server, which I could do just fine with 28002. Also when I changed time zone the clock on the top bar didn't change, but the one on the main screen changed. The top bar kept flickering where the clock was at and seemed to keep loading over and over.

Also the boot time after your hard reset (also after the first flash) is a lot longer than the past roms I have created.

I reflashed with 28002 and everything seems to be working again. I am interested in using 28011 and just currious if its just me or if other people are having these issues or have any solutions for those issues.

trying this kitchen out and to be honest i like it better than the visual one.... i think its easier to deal with..


i build a rom but i got an error, not sure if i will flash it but going to try to figure it out.


this is the error


this application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Access denied on what? All you should have to do is copy the dll into System32 and reboot. The kitchen should work fine after that

Hmmm thats odd. Either the System32 folder is protected somewhere or it might be marked as read only. Try booting into safe mode and copying and see if that works. Shouldn't be having the problem you are

I extracted the file to my desktop, then I manually copied the file into that windows\system32 directory. It gave me a prompt regarding copying the file into that folder, and after confirming, it's there (didn't overwrite anything, I think).

question... to add this new build to this kitchen i would have to turn this into EXT and place it in the folder like it says in the 1st post.....right?


well i downloaded the file to do that and i cant... lol i cant win! i should ask my girl to help me since she is a computer tech but dont get around to it... she can build a pc with her eyes closed

No need to convert anything, just put the folders into the kitchen where they normally would go. You do need to understand the VK folder structure before messing with build updates.

So has anyone gotten manila 2.5 working with this kitchen? I know erice doesn't/won't support it. It's a nice kitchen, but I like 2.5 too much to use it. I think the simple approach to the layout of this kitchen makes it less confusing than others.

The Sprint TV software can be found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=96207 It has the directions and the additional software you need to get everything working. I have installed and got it to work on my phone.

The directions are cab files and I no idea on how to get the cabs embed into the kitchen if that is what you are looking for. There are 2 cab files to install to get this working the MrX provisioning software and then the sprint tv cab file.

Make sure you have the correct SYS and XIP selected in the drop-down menus at the top. Also, make sure those same SYS and XIP are the only ones checked in the build tree. If there are more than one checked at the same time, it can cause this error.

Can't Complete Build, MSVCR71.dll Not Found
 

So I'm all happy, got a TP2, gonna put a sweet custom ROM on it, and go about about my day whistling a joyful tune. But no, wait, my computer has decided, instead, that I will be kicked in the nuts and left frustrated and alone in my misery. So here's my problem:

I downloaded the kitchen, did my customizations and tried to build. Got "Error(error level 3)" so I took out my own EXTs and tried to build the default ROM and got passed that part. Then when the black(I guess DOS) screen comes up, it goes about it's business until I get a new error:

Blah, blah, blah, MSVCR71.dll cannot be found...Press any key to continue(which stops the build process)

I do the research, seems it's a necessary component of C++. I reinstall both 2005 and 2008, no dice. Get the DLL online but now I don't know where to put it. Most stuff online says it goes in the application folder but C++ doesn't have one I could find and it doesn't seem like it would go in the kitchen folder.

Anyone have any ideas? I appreciate any help.

I have a strange issue, as detailed here:

It's been up for a while now and there's no answers. The problem has manifested itself with several different ROMs and kitchens. I think it has something to do with the US Cellular base. I took that ROM, and flashed the phone with it, and it also reverts the registry entry for the Force Roaming option.

Is there any way we can cook the registry entries in, not from an EXT? Maybe as part of the ROM build? I've hooked my wagon to this kitchen, because it's the best for my purposes, and it's fantastic. I understand that I might want a little more than the average user, though.

Also: The zoombar is not working in Opera. That should be an easy fix, though.

I have not had any luck changing the CDMA_RSSI_PPC.dll to the newer one submitted by Nico4k. Everytime I cook it in, it reverts back to the stock 6.1 signal bar icon which is hideous. Has anyone had any luck with this or know how to get it to change? I have tried everything that I can think of.
