Not sure if I should post this here or in the ROM section. The above reply applies to me as well as I purchased a Verizon phone and am on the Verizon service so the Hard SPL and burning a new ROM is all I need. However, I am going overseas and need to use global functionality. Do I need to do anything with the SIM unlocker and maybe more importantly, do I jeopardize the global function at all if I burn a new ROM like the MightyROM? Unfortunately I could only test it once I get to Germany and that would suck if I find out I messed up the global function.

I purchased TP2 today @ sprint Store.
In startmenu/settings/personal/security I see "Your phone is SIM Unlocked"
Does that mean I can stick active SIM Card from different US/Non US carrier and the phone will work on that network?
Unfortunatly all my friends with Sprint so I cannot test it rightnow....

The meaning of "world phone" = "unlocked SIM" isnt it?
Thats what they told me in the store.I just want to make sure (planning to travel overseas)

I just received SIM unlock codes for Verizon and was told that they have to be re-entered after every hard reset - does that sound right?

For overseas GSM networks, you will be fine and don't need to do anything.

If you want to use your Sprint phone on US GSM networks, then you need to purchase the SIM/Security unlock and flash one of the radios patched to allow the Sprint to work with US GSM carriers.

yes, you can. keep in mind that your prepaid card must be active before unlocking, make sure you're in gsm mode before unlocking, run the unlocker as admin, have a good rar tool.

this unlocker is for the united states only, but will apply to the world also. any sprint tp2 is already unlocked for world use, meaning you can use your sprint sim card that's supplied or buy one from the country you are in. this unlocker means you can use a t-mobile or at&t gsm sim card with a sprint/verizon tp2 and use that network while traveling in the u.s.

i just used prepaid as an example. you can use any sim card in it. it helps that your sim card is active before unlocking. the process isn't hard if you are not a noob, i am, so it took some figuring out but i got it.
