Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
Okay so I eat my words about the 1.88.07 Verizon Radio. I used it for a couple of days and then I started getting all kinds of weird stuff happen to my phone. First I tried to sync it with my computer and the data would go on and cut off while charging. haha Then I tried to log into my twitter using motweet which is the best twitter app Ive used so far but anyways it wouldnt log me in. And I was on wifi. The internet worked and so did facebook. So off back I think its motweet. So I uninstall it. ReInstall it. Still doesnt work:scratch: So I hard reset my phone:angry7: did the setting up routine](*,) and it still didnt work. :disgust:Then all of a sudden I couldnt get on the net at all. Then my phone cut off and wouldnt cut back on until I took the battery out:(. I flashed back to the Sprint stock and everything was perfect:mrgreen:. Not a glitch. Data was good. MoTweet loaded first try. So now Im back to the trusty dusty. It was never bad anyway. I just wanted to venture out but Im back home now. If it aint broke.....dont fix it!:headbang:Sprint Stock Radio:headbang:

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
Hey guys. here is my short term experience with the radios. Went through the newest radios from each of the providers listed.
Telus. Great signal in my house. Voice call sounded clearer than stock sprint. My biggest issue has been with listening to sx2 radio and getting texts with my original radio and this radio did the same thing though not as often. My issue is when listening to sx2 and I get a text it goes out of evdo to 1x and won't go back to evdo until i actually stop the stream of music and wait for it to go back to evdo...very annoying. US cellular. Worse for me in all categories. I am in north houston, your results will vary. Verizon. Signal is interestingly 1-2 bars less but the voice signal is the clearest. Gps aquisition is almost instant in my house where sprint would take over 2 minutes to lock. The best part is that when listening to sx2 it rarely goes to 1x when I get a text message and that is awesome. I have no idea on battery life but I presuming all this goody goodness with a weaker signal is going to result in some major battery drain. Will report back on battery in a couple of days. I also might put telus on my wifes TP2 to compare the two. Yes we're gay like that, we also dress alike and drive the same brand of cars. Again as anyone will say on this forum these results are very subjective so don't expect the same on your phone. You need to try them on your own phone in your area to get accurate results...not sure why I wrote this afterall. Oh well  |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
switched radios and now i get this error
device is unable to determine current country. please verify your current location. any help would be great. |

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
Anyone here from the Orange County, CA area? What's the best radio in your opinion? I tried them all and can't seem to tell the difference. Thanks!

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
I tried every radio and have the same 1-2 bar reception in my house. Guess it's just in BFE. Anyone have a suggestion as to which radio will give me the best battery life, since they all get the same reception, or does it make that much of a difference. I've been out around with the Telus and one USC and get full bars with both in town (West Houston).

Anyone have any recommendations for the Chicago, IL? I am brand new to Radio flashing, but am curious. I have horrible sprint coverage in my apartment.
Thanks to all of you that have posted your results so far! |

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
Need help. I'm new to this, ive done ROM flashing before, not radio.
what are the steps to do the radio flashing? Do i have to unlock it like with the ROM flashing? or... I dont want to brick my phone. I currently have TELUS' 1.92.00WV |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
I was getting tired of the stock Sprint radio getting stuck in 1X for no good reason...so I'm now trying Verizon 2.23.00WV...I guess when I have a better feel for how it behaves I'll report back.
Does anyone know if certain radio's perform better with regards to staying in EV/3G with different versions of Windows Mobile than others? |

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
Well...I usually like to try things for more than half a day to see how they actually work, but with Verizon 2.23.00WV, with the phone sitting on my desk at work, it is constantly turning the screen on as it switches between very little EV service, to very little 1x service, to an edge connection...it just keeps changing between the 3, and turning the screen on every time. I understand that service blows in this building...so my hope is to find a radio that is more tolerant to that, and less likely to turn the screen on all the time.
So having read that Telus seems to be best about battery life, I figured maybe that means it's less likely to turn the screen on all the time...so I just flashed in the Telus 1.92WV radio...and the phone is sitting idle on my desk with the screen off...I'll try to leave it for longer and see if does what I'm hoping it will do. |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
So, any conclusions about which radios work the best for Sprint users in the Chicago area? I am running the Sprint 2.23WU radio right now, and it works pretty well, although the signal at home is a little spotty. It will sometimes switch from EV to 1X. But my stock phones before this did the same thing. Anyhow, I was curious if another radio would work better (western suburbs of Chicago, but I am all over the place for work, etc.). I was particularly interested in the Verizon 2.05 or the Telus 1.92 IIRC.
Thanks for all of the great work on these radios and on the unlocks - it vastly improves these phones! |
Re: [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!
OK I bricked my phone lasy night trying to flash my first ROM. I mistakenly flashed a GSM ROM onto my CDMA Sprint Touch Pro2. Fortunately, I was able to recover and now am running MightyROMs WAR. In the third post on his ROM thread, under "Important Touch Pro2 Links", he recommends flashing a new radio.
Great. I really need it. I do not get reception at my house at all. I called Sprint and they said that I am in a "dead zone" I have three towers in a triangle around me that apparently are all facing away from me. They said that they have had several complaints from other users in my area. The only solution for them would be to physically turn the towers. So, I need a new radio. I read this entire thread. I have a couple of questions. Quote:
Does this mean that, since I have a CDMA phone that uses a SIM card, I can only flash the two radios on Cmocex's patched radio thread? What does he mean when he says I must be security unlocked to flash radios from other phones? Quote:

Would someone please set me straight here so I can flash one of these radios and use my phone at my house? Thanks |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
flashing to another radio probably wont help you, but it's worth a try cause it only takes a minute to flash a radio and it doesn't do a hard reset, so it's quick and painless. you are already hspl unlocked, so you can flash any of the radios in the first post, unless it specifies that you need to be security unlocked, because those are from another device. if trying these other radios don't help you get service at your house, then if you wanted, you could see if tmobile or at&t have service where you live and then you could sim-unlock your phone and buy a tmobile or at&t sim card and use it in your phone.

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
That is where I am getting confused. The first thing the first post says is that you must be security unlocked for radios packed from other devices. I guess I just don't know enough about packing a radio file to flash. What do you all mean by "other devices" wouldn't each one of these have come from a different device? Or does device not mean phone?

Thank you. It is a lot clearer now. By device, you mean a different model of phone not just a different phone. Another question: I flashed the Verizon VZW_1.88.07WV. My phone did not detect the SIM card. Is that why I should only use Cmonex's radios? What effect will that have on my service? |

cmonex's radios are only for if you want to security and sim unlock your phone to use at&t or t-mobile sim cards. what sim card do you have? |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
I am new to this ROM flashing but I recently Flashed my Sprint TP2 to Mighty Rom and my data hasnt worked since....I called Rogers Wireless they said it takes 24hrs to reset but its been 3 days now.
Tech support said go select 2G only and set it back to Auto. There is no option like that. Any Ideas? |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
Device is another word for phone. So if he got the radio off of my Sprint TP2 and a radio off of another Sprint TP2 phone would those be different devices? Would I need to security unlock for one and not the other? Or does it mean that if the radio was taken from a Rhodium TP2, I won't need security unlock because that's the phone I have. But, if it was taken from say an HTC HD I would?
I have a Sprint SIM card. Does the SIM card affect my data connection? I can make calls but they drop immediately. I am sending and receiving texts fine. I am not getting exchange emails, but I am getting hotmail. I am not getting a data connection. I have no bars. |

the sprint sim card is not doing anything, unless you go to a different country and activate international service on your account. then the sprint sim card will allow you to use gsm service (if available) in whatever non-US country you're in. |

the 1.40 Radio came from the Sprint RhodiumW 6.5 Test rom :) Its not signed, thats why to flash it you have to be security unlocked.

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
Thanks Mr.X.
I always have questions about this stuff because it is facinating to me. For example: When I woke up this morning, my phone no longer plays any sound when I make or receive a call. It plays system sounds though. Does this have to do with the radio I flashed yesterday? I did install some extra cabs to my MightyROM WAR ROM. I am trying to hard resest to see if that helps. If not, can I just flash another radio on this thread? Would it be better to flash to stock first? Sorry anyone thinks these are stupid questions. I learn more from asking questions. I did read the entire thread and many, many others over the last three days of having my phone and finding out all of this was even possible. It is just hard for me sometimes to remember what I read on post #6 by the time I get to post #56. **EDIT** The hard reset fixed it. It must have been one of the cabs that increase the speaker capacity. I would still like to know whether flashing to the stock radio first would help? I don't know how it could, but I think I read that for some issues it is better to flash to the stock ROM before flashing a new one. ?? I don't know why I put my opinion in here... this is why I ask a lot of questions. Sometimes I assume that something couldn't possibly hurt when I am only three days old as a phone customizer. I will eventually start cooking though. So, please bear with my stupid newbie questions. I promise that my questions will get better as time goes on. (and hopefully shorter and more direct...sorry) |

No, you don't need to flash back to the stock radio. It's quick and painless. Just flash to a different radio. No other steps needed. |
Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS [Mirrors Included]
OK I am going to try VZW_2.23WV_S.
VZW_1.88.07WV didn't help. May have made it worse. I am dropping calls before it finishes ringing. I am in the Pacific Northwest if this info helps anyone. |
