Correct. Clicking on the top of the screen will bring up the Notifications screen. To get to XTask, just press the Windows Hardkey on your phone (The key next to the "Call" button).

I have been looking for a nice mobile bridge game.
I assume that is not built in , because I do not see it on my phone.

Bridge is not included in the ROM  I use Omar Shariff Bridge. Sadly, its the better of the two Bridge programs available out there. Better than nothing, I suppose.

All right! Uploaded Sprint and Verizon versions, in addition to the Generic flavor of the ROM. The Sprint and VZ versions haven't been tested, so let me know if you come across any issues with those.

So, I dl the original rom and added the sprint carrier cab u had linked to earlier.

Is there any reason to dl the sprint specific version ?

Eventually, I hope to. Running into some issues getting my favorite keyboard to work. I *highly* recommend Fingerkeyboard, found here. Its what I use. Very configurable, easy to use and most importantly, has easy copy and paste access.

##3282# from dialpad (edit need lock code from sprint) if there isnt a user name or password you will need those from sprint there is a link for/prl and profile update that should do these for you automatically if you have a medium signal

What's the reason to run 6.5.x as opposed to 6.5 or 6.1 if you have spbms as the front end?

I wanted to be sure if a fee is required once the spbms trial is over in this ROM?

Thanks

Nope. You should be fine. Just added the two ROMs to make life a little easier for people on Sprint and VZ.

6.5 has the same speed and RAM issues as 6.5.x, but without the additional touch friendliness. So, if I'm going to not have 6.1, there's no reason for 6.5 over 6.5.x.
Ideally, I would build a ROM with 6.1; however, I am having some issues with my 6.1 + newer packages, and haven't had the time and patience to sort it out. So, till then, I'm just using 6.5.x. When I have a little more free time, I do plan on putting a ROM together similar to this one, but with 6.1 instead. Should be a pretty quick ROM

That will be idEal rom for me as well.
in my novice opinion...
6.1 + no tf3 or sense + overclocked + spb = AMAZING

My Verizon TP2 does not seem to like this ROM.

I have tried the original version which would not do the initial load. I downloaded again and reflashed. It started but froze at the SBP screen every time.

I tried the new Verizon version and it will not load. Says Starting Windows and freezes.

I have done Task29, load from USB, load from SD. Nothng seems to work. Am I doing something wrong? I have flashed a zillion Roms with no issues. I would really like to give this one a try if I can.

Yikes. I don't know what to tell you! Others seem to have had no issues with getting the ROM loaded up, and though there seemed to some issue with VZ provisioning, no one else seems to have a non-booting ROM.

The only think I can think of is that its not actually freezing at the SPB screen. Apparently, Mobile Shell is expired when you load up the ROM, so you need to register before you can start using MS. When it "freezes" in Shell, see if other phone operations are functional. That might explain it?

Forgive my ignorance,...but have u tried this?

It appears to have some recent apps.
I tried the "Sprint Basics 1.4 ROM" (listed in the first post) which was quite good as well.

Yeah, I've tried it. But I have Calk's kitchen set up, and moving to another kitchen just wasn't doing it for me

I have to say, though, that with this new MS ROM of mine, I don't notice a really substantial difference between 6.1 and 6.5.x. I think Manila + 6.5.x slows things down, but 6.5.x is not inherently *noticeably* slower than 6.5.x. I also remember that with 6.1, I cannot get my pretty icons to work (I have to make them into icos, then import them into a dll and then set up my shortcuts all over again! Whatta pain!). So, all things considered, I may stick with this ROM for a little bit before experimenting again.

I might try building this ROM so MobileShell isn't expired on start up and I want to incorporate Fingerkeyboard into the ROM. But other than that, I am really happy with what I have.

Also, here's a little tip. Under MobileShell settings, disable the stupid animations and you will feel your phone feel even more perky!

Maverick- what version of shell are you using? any other widget packs included??
I'm a bit partial to MS so I'll flash the generic in the morning, provision for Sprint and give it a spin. What's the pp you're running? and glyph cash?

The best 6.1... just a run of the mill Visual Kitchen with the latest dumped stock rom plus your personal tweaks and that's it.
You will have very happy testers/users.

pavanmaverick, You have a excellent rom with lots of memory and good speed. I been using mobile since it 3.0 days when they revamped the whole thing. I find it a lot easier to using that manilla.

Here are some issues I found....
1. SMS/MMS does not sort in order of recieved...
2. Text message icon in settings does not work
3. Phone option under phone does not work..

Thank You

Re: *Blazing Fast & Stable* Maverick MobileShell ROM *SYS 23135* UPDATED!

Just FYI, there's nothing wrong with the ROM, it is NOT frozen on first boot. The reason you see some widgets and the ocean background but the only thing you can do is "register" is because the trial version of SPB is expired. Your phone is not frozen. Once Maverick updates with an unexpired version of SPB ya'll will be able to use it for 15 days for free.
Nice first run on the rom--quick and a great memory footprint. Was having probs connecting to data even after provisioning with 2 diff sprint cabs and after updating PRL and Profile. A bit vexed (was on generic-first run). Other than that---it looks and runs very nice.

Okay, all links updated to v2 now. Changelog in first post. Also, links to the overclocking cab are in the first post. This update should fix most of the problems everyone is encountering.

Looking forward to trying this ROM again. I'll flash the stock ROM and then Mav.

However, I am pretty familiar with frozen. Frozen, as in the hour glass spins on the start-up screen then stops and nothing happens for 10 minutes or so. Subsequent flashes met with differing levels of freeze. I have a SPB license for 3.5, but pressing the register key had no effect. All keys were frozen including the power button. The only way to turn it off was to pull the battery. Other times, it let me past the spb screen only to freeze with the hour glass stuck again.

Hopefully the stock flash will let me give this one a try, although it seems strange that it would not work after Task29. Could the version of the Radio have any impact? That seems to be the only variable left.

I have another explanation. The original ROMs had overclocking built-in at a level that was stable on my phone. However, there was some iffiness with it, in that it would start overclocking on some resets and not on others. My guess is that on your phone, the overclocking was kicking in during bootup, but that it was set too high for your particular chip (and it seems pretty well documented that different chips are capable of being overclocked to different speeds). That would explain why only some users are seeing frozen phones, while it was working just fine for everyone else.
I am calling eureka on this #-o

Version 2 of the ROMs have the overclocking tool taken out, and you need to manually install the cab and set if according to your chip. My bet is that v2 will solve your issue, no flash to stock necessary (if you've Task29ed already).

dwmackay 09-16-2010 07:15 PM

Re: *Blazing Fast & Stable* Maverick MobileShell ROM *SYS 23135* UPDATED!

Thanks for the reply. I bet you are right on the money. I have had differing results with the overclocking from some other members. I'll take another swing at this and let you know how it goes.

Doug M.

Edit:
You were right. V2 of versizon loded without any trouble. ROM looks great so far. It is great to have something totally different to play with.

A quick question. I cannot seem to ge the backlight to stick with my preferred settings which is always and max brightness. I go into power, select backlight, change it to full bright and uncheck the auto setting. It seems to work for about 2-3 minutes, then it just goes back to the auto setting all by itself.

Edit2:
Just figured it out. I took Lumos out of the startup menu. Problem solved.
