Yeah. you got it. I didn't have the Individual Tabs setup for 2016 like we've been getting.
The 2018 Core Test overwrites everything neccessary.
I'm considering deleting alot of the 2018 app.reg though. I've noticed it overwrites a few of the 2016's settings I've gotten used to.

I cant seem to get 2016 or 2018 to work. I always get the white squares all over the place. All the ones I have found are in OEM format so u must be converting them wrong with TotalFire, that plus cfc'ing them maybe? I'm thinking also 2016 or 2018 dont play nice with cookies home tab?

It's been my experience that white squares are indicitive of a CFC issue. Sounds like some of your stuff may be CFC'ed and some not. I dunno... I run 2016 perfectly with CHT. Like you quoted I've also been running 2016 with a 2018 Core perfectly with CHT. 2016 packages in EXT format have been posted several times here. Search the attachements of the thread. I konw I myself posted a drop and run 2016 Tab and Dependencies zip somewhere in here.

Can someone tell me defnitively what the rules are when it comes to writing a ROM version. What I mean is, can there be spaces? What characters will make it not work? What's the character limit? Anything along those lines.

It is limited.Word "know" doesnt fit lol
Same applies to Manila version

Edit: here are the non-english(0409) files that can be deleted from these 2 Tabs.
Working great for me.

CLARIFICATION - These are the ########_manila files that are specifically alternate Lang files for menus.
For those of us who are "en-us" we don't need these files.
