It shouldn't. Reception is determined by your antenna and the radio for your phone. Overclocking the phone would only make it operate faster.

Im not positive but I dont think overclocking the phone will have anything to do with the reception because that is controled by the radio and overclocking just tweeks the cpu. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

it *might* result in some faster download speeds, or transmit speed when you're tethered. Signal strength will not be improved or degraded.

That happen to me one time, what I did is with a toothpick I move a little piece of metal at the end of the headphone hole and the sound came back, try to move it a little bit to the left or to the right.
