Dibbson test 2 is working good. I set up exchange and it works fine. Only hickup was initially when I set it up the phone froze. I had to reset and it works fine since then. Love the new taskbar and folders and large icons in the startmenu. Thanks.

Dibbson do you think this has anything to do with the lock screen? I have no idea the coding behind it by I am forced by policy to enter a code when I reboot or after 25 minutes. It seems that after you get the lock screen after reboot and put in the code the lockups happen. Its happened to me now after I set up Exchange sync.

Had the same experience on the Sprint test2 ROM with freeze after exchange. Mine was also ok after reset except my exchange mail was missing :(
Everything else (contacts, tasks, calendar entries, etc.) was there.

Re: <> 2-19-10 <> Medium Hill Rom's <> SYS 23534 & 21890 <> MH UC & Provisioning v3.1

Dibbs -- after flashing the Sprint test2 ROM and having issues (freeze after initial sync and missing mail), I tried another 6.5.x + 2.5 ROM to double check.

RSTG has a newer rev posted with a 235541-based build and Manila 2.5 so I tried it. Corp exchange seemed to work ok although it was a little slower than what I get from a 6.5/2.1 build. After the initial sync, a dialog requested that I soft reset. After soft reset, everything seems to work ok so far.

Hope this helps!

Are you required to put in a 4 digit security code after reboot or after a certain time period. This is a security enforcement that can be turned on by the Exchange Administrator. Just wondering because that is when the lock up happens for me (after I put in my lock code).

yes, i'm still working on the core transfer. VZ/Telus rom is completely different from the Sprint/USCC rom now. Under the hood that is, visually they are the same. I think i will be the first VZ specific chef around here thanks to you.

Dibbson, I really think the Exchange problem has to do with users who have security policy enforced through the Exchange server. I have to enter a 4 digit code at reset or after 25 minutes. I just installed the 23544 BTW.

I set up my Exchange and everything synced fine. I then manually locked it and unlocked and everything worked find. I then soft reset and after I entered my lock code, it went to your splash screen and locked up. Other Roms I have used dont go to splash screen after you enter the code.

Hopefully we can find a solution. I love you ROMs and want to use them.

Ok, I found these registry settings you can try. If they work, I can cook them in.

  • Enable/Disable the Exchange security policy - HKLM\Security\Policies\00001023: 0 = Enabled; 1 = Disabled
  • Inactivity time
    • HKLM\Comm\Security\Policy\LASSD\AE\{50C13377-C66D-400C-889E-C316FC4AB374}\AEFrequencyType: 0 = No inactivity time; 1 = Activity time enable
    • HKLM\Comm\Security\Policy\LASSD\AE\{50C13377-C66D-400C-889E-C316FC4AB374}\AEFrequencyValue: number of minutes before timeout
  • Password strength
    • Minimum number of characters: HKLM\Comm\Security\Policy\LASSD\LAP\lap_pw\Minimum PasswordLength
    • Password complexity: HKLM\Comm\Security\Policy\LASSD\LAP\lap_pw\Passwor dComplexity: 0 = Require Alphanumeric; 1 = Require numeric (PIN); 2 = No restriction
  • Wipe settings
    • Number of failed attempts before all your information will go: HKLM\Comm\Security\Policy\LASSD\DeviceWipeThreshol d: -1 = disabled; other failed attempts

Uploading a new sprint rom. I switched out the lockscreen files from an older 6.5 rom. Maybe this will help, as it could be a cpr file issue.....? Anyways, rom will be up within the hour. I have used the lockscreen with PIN input several times now without a glitch.

Ok. Setup Exchange and ran the program and no go. Also changed registry settings and nothing. Still locking up. Frustrating! Why is yours the only one that does this?

UPDATE: Saw you are uploading new rom with new lockscreen. Crossing fingers!!

Re: <> 2-19-10 <> Medium Hill Rom's <> SYS 23534 & 21890 <> MH UC & Provisioning v3.1

I am at a loss for a reason really. I use the same SYS files as everyone else, and the same packages for the most part. One thing is allot of people edit their lockscreens. I have read that the stock lockscreen cpr files can cause issues when using PINs. So I reverted all the lockscreen files to an older 6.5 version. If this doesn't work, I have one more thing I can try, but if that doesn't work, I really have no clue. I have done all the research I can, and have posed questions to a couple other people. I personally haven't had to use the PIN system on lock before. But I did try that before I switched out the lockscreen files, and did seem to notice some issues, but once I switched the files, no issues were there, so maybe this will help. 30 mins left on the upload, so I hope this helps.

I just had a couple of ideas. bkimbler, can you look at your processes in the taskmanager (not showcase, but the taskmanager in the utilities folder) and list them all please.

Also, here is the newest test rom, but I have one uploading right after this though. I have a couple theories to test. This test rom link here has the new lockscreen cpr files.

This is immediately after a soft reset:
Device.exe
cprog.exe
filesys.exe
services.exe
gwes.exe
manila.exe
shell32.exe
voicecmd.exe
commManager.exe
repllog.exe
tmail.exe
connmgr.exe
taskmgr.exe
bttrayce.exe
omc.exe
putlook.exe
showcasesuite.exe
nk.exe

Again, I did a soft reset and went straight to task manager.

Re: <> 2-19-10 <> Medium Hill Rom's <> SYS 23534 & 21890 <> MH UC & Provisioning v3.1

thanks for your continued help. I have a strong feeling if test 4 doesn't fix it, i'm about 99% sure the one i'm uploading now will. Test 5 uses a different taskmanager. Test 5 that is uploading now uses the x2 taskmanager. But i am modifying showcase currently, as i do like it better, to hopefully get it working. If test 4 works, great, then it was the cpr files. If not, test 5 will be up soon, and that should definately work. I got to thinking... what do i use that no one else does.... showcase... hence the x2 test 5 version thats uploading now. So... what i'm doing for test 6 is modifying the showcase exclusion list to include a few other things. If test 6 of the modified showcase doesn't work, then we will just stick with x2 task manager from now on. That's why i'm asking for your specific processes list, so i can add them to showcase.

Re: <> 2-19-10 <> Medium Hill Rom's <> SYS 23534 & 21890 <> MH UC & Provisioning v3.1

thanks guys, at this point i'm going with it's showcase since i SERIOUSLY have eliminated and changed soo many things so far, and i don't think anyone else is using it. Thanks bkimbler for listing processes, and the test 5 with the x2 taskmanager will be up in 20 minutes. Test 5 should work, and if it does, then I will have a test will a modified showcase to exclude the processes you list, I already have put some in just from my own work, as i do know showcase can cause issues if you don't add stuff to the exclusion list, i didn't even think of this before. So thanks you two for testing and flashing so much tonight/today. I do like showcase the best and if i can get it to work right, i would rather use it. So.... once you get me the process list, test 5 with the x2 taskmanager should be ready for to download and test. While you test that one, I will add your processes to the exclusion list, cook, and upload that, and hopefully that will work with showcase. If not, then we will just stick with the x2 task manager.

Test 4. Setup Exchange (no reset) and here are the processes:

device.exe
filesys.exe
cprog.exe
services.exe
gwes.exe
manila.exe
voicecmd.exe
shell32.exe
repllog.exe
commanager.exe
tmail.exe
connmgr.exe
taskmgr.exe
bttrayce.exe
omc.exe
poutlook.exe
showcasesuite.exe
nk.exe

That's it.

Hey Dibbs, I know I am late to the discussion regarding the corp exchange/pin issue, and I haven't gone through all the posts regarding this issue... but here are my 2 cents.

If your rom is the only one having the issue, then I guess its save to assume a program/tweak/modification installed by you is causing it. So why not setup a base rom without any modifications/tweaks/programs and release it as a beta to see if that solves the issue. If it does solve the issue, install your mods/tweaks in small groupings and release a beta each time. That way we can confirm which batch of mods causes the problem to narrow down the issue.

I know the above solution is not ideal, and very time consuming, but that is usually what I do when I have a hard to fix problem. Start at the base (that works) and work my way up till I hit the problem... And it usually does take a lot of time. ](*,)

Thanks for the great work and support.

thanks kimbler.

@cls, already done that a week or so ago with the stripped titanium rom in the test folder that was nothing but the SYS :p but.... it did have showcase for the task manager. I thought about the stripped rom about an hour ago when i was looking at the test folder on the ftp, and thats when i got the idea that maybe it was just showcase causing the issue. Which would also explain why the 6.5 version of my roms work with exchange and the 6.5.x don't. And that why i made the x2 version that will be up for download in 7 minutes, and why i asked kimbler to list his specific processes, so maybe i can get showcase to work with the exclusions list. But yeah, you were on the right track.

Cool, I have had no major problems with the roms either.

Just wanted to add some new thoughts to the discussion as it sometimes helps to solve the problem. I know after hours of pounding my head on a problem I sometimes ask a third party for their perspective on the problem, and the discussion that ensues sometimes helps me to realize the solution.
