dibbs great rom I am using 2-21 without htc messaging and the taskbar works great now. the only problem I am having is keyboard when you open a program keyboard comes up but (which is fine) but there is no way to close it or minimize the touch screen keyboard other than using the hard keyboard is there a way you can put a minimize arrow key to open or close virtual keyboard. thanks

I found that if you tap just below the symbol for the keyboard in the bottom bar, it will close the virtual keyboard.

Yes, or tap to the left of the sip softkey, tapping to the right brings up options. Just the way it works on 6.5.x now. Also I need 2 sprint testers, 2 USCC testers, and 1 VZ (I already have 1) that have experienced corp exchange issues in the past. I will have a beta test rom for you tonight.

It is a test rom, find out, i'm just looking for feedback, it's not a release, hence no update on first page. But it's 23541. I guess some people never like surprises.......... ;) And also if you read earlier posts, it was directed at people who were having issues with corp exchange server.

It is a TEST rom, hence me testing a new taskbar. HTC messaging is included in this one with the sprint workaround.

There will be quite a few changes from the test rom to what the update will look like. I've made quite a few changes since I uploaded the test. I just want core functionality feedback.

Also, if it has worked on other chef's roms, can you verify if my 6.5 sense 2.5 rom works for you or not. It's really strange as your the only one having the issue now (or that has reported it) as Verizon seems to be straightened out now too with their test rom. So it's strange it's just you reporting this.

I have had an issue like this in the past too Dibbson (which is why I am not currently running your ROM). Did not know it was related to corporate exchange. Your ROM would just hang on restart. Soft reset would not fix it.

I personally setup an exchange server just to test with, and i'm not having the issue that wonka is and other sprint users seem fine as well, so i am at a loss. Only thing I can figure is it's some kind of setting issue with his exchange server that he is trying to log in to. He never answered whether or not he can connect with other chef's roms. I made a couple changes in the test2 rom i just linked in a post above to see if that would help him. The changes I already made in the first test fixed the verizon exchange server issues. If this test 2 doesn't work for him, i really don't know..... other than it could be some random email/SYS issue with the 25xxx series, but I doubt it since this seems to have fixed it for everyone else including VZ.

In my case I have no problems with other Chefs ROMs so I don't know if it's Exchnage related or not. I will run your ROM without Exchange for the next day or so. The link to the test ROM does not work.

Downloading now. Going to take it slow on the setup. Run it with no changes for a bit and then start adding things (saving Exchange for last). Will keep you updated.

Exchange is working for me on the test ROM. No real issues yet as i test it.

Is it worth me downloading the new test? I have everything setup the way i want to test it, that is why i ask. Thanks and I will report as i use it.

Thanks for testing. You should like the new rom. The start menu is one of the biggest changes. All new folder icons in the Test2 rom. New custom taskbar based off an android taskbar from XDA but heavily edited with a resource editor to get rid of some bloat.

Only if you want your start menu to look like this. But it's up to you, should have the final updates tomorrow. Got a few more graphical things I want to finish.

The biggest thing for me I would like to see if more Program Memory with 2.5 ROMs. Most are under 60MB all the time from what I see.

ok. sorry i didn't get back quicker. working late. no, i don't have this problem on anyone else's rom (recently impact, 7ppc, energy cookie 6.5.3, & calk's discontinued 6.5.x m2.5). and it definately is just my corporate exchange with security settings, as i have tried setting up google in exchange on your rom and it works just fine. i tried all your roms and the 6.5 did not have the problem either (only 6.5.x). thanks for tryin hard on it for me. no big deal. probably be fixed in the next build released. i will try the sprint test2 later 2nite though. think it could have anything to do with why activesync on manila settings tab doesn't work?

i like the android-ish tb. different and just a hint of green. might inspire me to do a green theme!

The active sync link on htc settings tab would have nothing to do with it. That's just a link that for some reason is a pain in the you know what to fix for some reason, just one of those weird things. If 6.5 worked fine, then it's just something in the 235xx SYS files then. I did change a couple things at the SYS level for test 2 so maybe it will make a difference. And yeah, that taskbar seems to be pretty solid so far. Took me a long time to edit it right though, so i'm glad you like it. I like it too, and goes good with the standard medium hill background with the hint of green.

Just chiming in with my test results on the first sprint test rom. Haven't found problems yet! Great job Dibbson!

Weather and location works.
Email pop3 access works.
usb to pc works
install of mh max manila works.
htc volume skin is in
incoming ring works.
New uc tool version is working.
Free ram is 93MB on fresh reset without mh max manila.
Free ram is 88MB on fresh reset with mh max manila.
I uninstalled mh max manila and successfully installed co0kie's home tab 1.6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483). as well as the home tab editor (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633590).
Installed my own personal cabs and everything works great!
I like the new taskbar look...excellent!

Dibbs,

I'm one of Sprint +Corp Exchange users that had soft-reset lock-ups with some of the prior 25534 + 2.5 MH ROM's. The old 23529 ROM worked. Just tried your Sprint test ROM and here's what I experienced:
- ROM installed and provisioned for Sprint without incident. Had 92MB free RAM.
- Graphics look terrific!
- Setup activesync to sync w/my corp exchange server
- Was prompted to set password for new security (as expected).
- Activesync started to download info and locked-up.
- Waited 8-10 minutes and eventually soft-reset my device.
- Soft-reset worked ok. Went back to Activesync and started sync.
- Sync now appears to be working, but it's slow.
- Sync is occurring at ~20% of the speed I see for a typical 6.5/2.1 ROM.
- All my contacts, calendar, and tasks sync'd. But my mail didn't?!
- Tried to go back to Activesync thru start-menu but it wouldn't launch. I could still access my home screen.
- A few minutes later, the entire TP2 locked-up again. I performed a soft-reset.
- TP2 seemed to come out of reset ok and I could access start menu. Still no mail.
- Double-checked my activesync server settings -- mail should have sync'd.
- Sync'd again -- no mail.

The mail problem is new. Never experienced that one before...

On the MH 23534 ROM I previously tried, I was able to sync (and I recall it was also slow). The ROM became unstable at some point later -- several hours after the initial sync. I've played around with other ROMs from RSTG, MAL, Mighty, Silence, MH (older 23529 ver), and others and didn't experience this problem.

PS: I have nearly 800 contacts, over 200 tasks, and ~200 calendar entries which I think may be more than most. However, I typically don't have exchange/activesync problems either.

When you say provisioned fine, did you run a provisioning cab? because i didn't include any because it was cooked in for sprint so no one needed to run a provisioning cab. Only the MMS cab if you needed to. And was this test one or test 2 rom? I would really like to get this worked out. And this is for those having issues with exchange. What version are you running ie.. what version of windows server and exchange and any other tidbits that might matter. As there are a few different versions out there. And since nothing I change or do seems to make a difference for some of you even though it works fine for me and others. If i can't figure anything else out from your answers from the above questions, then I have two options: I can make a new rom from the 23542 SYS or go back to 23529. But seriously, it seems very odd that it would work on 23529 but then not on the others, and for that matter that it works on other chefs rom that are running 23534,40,41. As if it really was the SYS issue, you should be experiencing the same issues on their roms.

I wouldnt go back since all other ROMs I have tried work fine with Exchange. I was using Energy 23541 2.5 and it worked fine. I am running Exchange 2008 at work.

I have been running your test ROM since last night with not issues. I did not set up Exchange yet however. Will do so today. Love the look of your ROM.

Dibbs -- sorry for the confusion. I "provisioned" the SprintMMS settings. That was all. I work for a big company so I don't know which version of exchange we use -- I'll try to find out. I assume that there are different levels of security/encryption options for exchange? If so, my company is very focused on keeping our data secure so I expect they're using the maximum available (we have hard drive passwords, PGP encryption, various lockouts, etc. on our laptops!).

Flashed-up an older silence 12.1 ROM again with 6.5 and 2.1 (just to double-check) and it sync'd up with exchange very quickly. No issues.

RSTG has a 6.5.3/2.5 ROM out there. I've got limited time to play around with my phone today, but should have some time to flash, try exchange, and report back. I'll also try to find out more about our exchange setup.

Yeah, my 6.5 seems to work fine as well. Yes, please try another 23541 rom and let me know. I have a few more things i'm going to do to this rom before release, as i'm trying to do this update justice.
