Same here, using 28 on a VZ TP and I have about 20 - 25mb free RAM, after changing it to 0 PP.

One question - it keeps telling me that I need to close some running programs. When I open up Task Manager and sort by Memory Usage, it shows:

- gwes.exe - 19mb
- cprog.exe - 6mb
- device.exe - 3mb
- filesys.exe - 2.5mb
- services.exe - 1.5mb
- shell32.exe - 1mb
- manila.exe - 873kb
- SetVolume.exe - 142kb
- TaskMan.exe - 1kb
- connmgr.exe - 1kb
- phcanvga.exe - 1kb
- PositionFix.exe - 1kb
- Showcase_X.exe - 1kb
- NK.exe - 1kb

I know I certainly need most of them, but I'm wondering about the ones in bold. What are they for? Is there a way to remove them from startup?

Any other ways to improve memory?

SetVolume is a program that gives the look and feel of the HTC volume in the Sense version of Manila. Without it, then you get the old Microsoft Volume controls. Your choice if you want to kill it.

Showcase gives you a Taskmanager like the old TM that ran on the 6.1 versions. When you touch the clock in the upper right corner, you are presented with a close button (which actually closes the app) as well as two others for displaying the TM to close other running apps and such.

I believe the NK.exe is the OS kernel itself, you definitely need that.

You must set your pagepool at something other than 0 - I suggest somewhere between 8 and 12, depending on your needs.

'0' is a dynamic pagepool, which will grow and shrink according to WM's needs without consideration of the RAM in your device.

So when you get a message saying to close applications, it's almost certainly because the pagepool has expanded to deal with memory needs of WM, and is now getting too big for the VZW TP.

Dynamic Pagepools are not recommended for VZW TPs.

I am still working on the lite, but it's a crapshoot due to some boot issues that only happen on VZW TP, and I use a Sprint TP.

The startmenu on the new ROM keeps streaking on me. I can only assume this is because of the dcd AlltelCarrier 103108 cab that I installed, since it happened after reset when I installed it. I would love to install the newer carrier cab, 10312009 but everytime I install that it turns my batter icon and speaker icon into the stock white icons.

I just don't know what this cab installs, so no idea why it would be causing problems. Usually streaking is from a bad video driver, could also be a bad flash. One thing to try is the flashdance, where you flash a stock ROM first, and then flash the custom ROM.

Also, why are you installing the Alltel Carrier cab? This ROM is generic, shouldn't really need to make any changes...

I dunno, I always installed it. The 08' one isn't that great, but the 09' carrier cab always gave me the ability to receive and Ra connection. From what I understand that is the best. I haven't been able to install the 09' carrier because it mess with the taskbar because nobody makes a rom with an Ra icon in the taskbar and I end up with the default "white" batter, speaker, and signal icons... Really stinks, so I have to try other taskbars but then the messes with WM6.5.3 so I am stuck...
