I'm in northern indiana and the customer service rep tells me that this is a EV area and supposedly I'm in the between 2 towers close by and I get 1X most of the time. I go 5 miles down the road basically to the next town and get fairly decent EV... then also my tp feels like it will explode in my pocket. I wanna aleviate that as much as possible. Haven't ever tried flashing roms before but this shipped rom is pissing me off. I love my tp but there are alot of issues in my area.
You can unlock and flash roms and radios from the microSD card. no need for a computer. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61333

Can someone relink the telus radio? The download link seems to be broken

EDIT

Nevermind, the link wouldn't load all last night but after waiting a bit this morning it loaded up fine.

Re: [AUG 4] *12 Radios Available* Updated Touch Pro CDMA Radio Archive Thread

I've tried out the Sprint 1.12.34 with somewhat decent success. I deleted the reg key for GPS as mentioned earlier in the thread. Instant lock. I'm getting anywhere between -92dbm and 15-35dbm respectively. Both of these numbers are pretty close in both home & work. Battery drainage not bad, not great.

Giving the Telus radio a try now.

I'll report back after further testing.

MightyROM6.5 (Final) / Downtown Kansas City area.

Skid

ps Does changing my slot cycle index have any effect on this process? It's currently at 2. If so, how do I go about changing that?
Thanks

the SCI only tells your phone how often to poll the towers. has no affect on signal strength. It does affect your battery life a little though.

it's all explained here and how to change it http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42730

I'm trying to flash some radios both with a SD flash and a RUU flash. I get successful flash messages but the radio information on the device does not change. Does this mean the radio didn't change? Thanks.

HI. Excuse me for being a total noob. But i am still a little lost on the radios. If i flash a custom ROM is it required that i flash a custom radio as well. Also does flashing a verizon radio to a sprint phone allow you to use the signal of Verizon's cell towers? any clarification of this would be very helpful. Thanks

flashing a custom rom does not mess with the radio rom installed in your phone, so you will not have to flash a radio.

flashing a different carrier's radio rom will not make your phone use that carriers towers. your phone will continue to work as it normally did, but possibly getting increased reception reliability & increased battery life.

Re: [JUL 11] *10 Radios Available* Updated Touch Pro CDMA Radio Archive Thread

I live in the Green Bay, WI area

Been using Telus Radio V1.04.05V (Telus Update) for a while now. Here is my opinion on the new ones....

Dumped Updated Stock Alltel Radio V1.12.20F:very bad EV reception for me but 1x good still.

Verizon Touch Pro Radio V1.03.09V: EV descent. 1x good still.

Holy cow, fr0st... you must live right in my back yard! I'm in Little Chute too. Have you done any further testing? Battery's the big thing for me, but I need my EvDO too (actually rA for us Alltel users here). From reading through the rest of the thread, the favorite seems to be the Telus radio but I'm curious to see what your findings are.

I'm using the Telus radio on Sprint in the Fond du Lac area and didn't see a big change besides more gps lag. I am about to try the the US Cellular and see if how that is.
