On your SMS issue-I see it too, on stock now in prep for flash but I think it has to do which message you are on when you exit the tab, doesnt bother me much so I didnt pay too much attention, wil check it out later.

I didn't think there was going to be a 28005 tonight, just the 218xxx series.

Forgive me but what is the deal with flashing back to factory before a new rom build? Does not a flash completely wipe the phone clean and then install??? If yes then, it either flashes right or it doesn't... I would think you would have just as much chance of the first flash messing up as the second???

When you flash back to stock it includes the radio so while not 100% it greatly increases the chance of all files being written to their appropriate location thus clearing the way for a "cleaner" custom ROM flash.
If files are written incorrectly then a hard reset may re-write those files incorrectly, again.
