Interestingly, it happend to me again this evening and I was able to see what I think might be leading to the problem. I realized that in my case it happend after I reset the phone, and this time I was watching as it happened.

The phone booted up to what should give the unlock screen (use it for work email and we have the policy to require a password) and instead I get several flashes and then the wonderful warning that too many bad passwords have been entered and I needed to enter the "a1b2c3" to continue to attempt to enter the password. Unfortunately, a few seconds later it pops up the "One more bad password and the phone data will be wiped", followed several seconds later by a shutdown and upon reboot the phone was wiped and started the ROM default config cycle again.

The only thing I can think of on the phone that interacts with the password and unlock interface is Sprite Backup - I also know that I remember a couple of time with Sprite Backup having some wierd issues on previous ROMs I have had on the phone when it is set to override the unlock to allow the backup to operate on reboot.


So, do you have your phone synced to Exchange with a security policy enforced for unlock settings? And do you use Sprite and set it to override unlock the phone for you after the index and reboot? I do have those things set and now wonder if that is where the problem is coming from. I am going to skip using Sprite for a while and see if it happens again, but it has happened with the 0205 beta and 0209 builds so far - never before those two. Previously I had seen some odd behavior at the password screen when backing up, but it never went so far as to blow through the security policy threshold on its own like this. Crazy stuff indeed.

I don't have those same symptoms. Mine simply starts acting funny (texts not coming in, etc). I'll soft reset to try to fix the issue (deck's ROMs never need soft reset as they have been very stable for me - so instantly i'll know something is up). It will sit at the boot screen that shows the bootloader and rom info with the red letters for about 3 minutes. Then it will sit at the windows logo for another 2 mins or so. Then it will ask me to set up the device for the first time.

This is where our stories match up. My phone will be in a semi-hard reset state where i'll see my contacts and everything, but there are multiple icons of every program in the start menu but none of the apps work. Not even the phone dialer comes up. Hard resetting the device again is how I fix it. I end up having to resync my phone again and start from scratch.

Someone suggested flashing back to the stock ROM. I will try that this weekend. Good luck!

So yesterday running this ROM I knew I missed a call. Went into the call log and it was blank??

Later that evening went to send a txt message and all my txt msgs gone??

Finally by the end of the evening my emails gone, my contacts gone. I have been running this ROM since it came out on 8/8 and absolutly loved it. No issues whatsoever for me, but now?

What could have happened.

It didn't Hard Reset because my settings were still there and programs I installed were still functioning.

edit: I finally wasn't able to even use the phone, it wouldn't go to the dialer, wouldn't ring, wouldn't do anything. Had to hard reset.

I recently installed the V 209 stuffed on my verizon touch pro. i am having several issues that i may need help with.

1.When i text, the touch screen keyboard automatically comes up.
2.There is a long lag when i am using the camera.
3.Is there anyway to put a theme on the lock screen and is there anyway to map the power top button to lock the device like the s2u2?

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated. Great ROM.....

Hey Bud, You can extract these using total commander, but I would just wait out the day a little, Deck plans on releasing a new version of this rom, all your troubles should be solved with it.!!!
