Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

NOTE: some users have reported getting stuck in an unbootable loop(noting error messages about the flash "upgrade rom code error") after this step. simply flash any rom and you should get out of this cycle. below are linkes to the dumped stock roms, I grabbed the links straight out of imcokeman's thread so make sure you give him thanks if you use them.
link to his thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741
if this note helps you please sent hotspace some thanks for figuring this out

I dont know if this has happened to anyone but it happened to me and I couldnt load a new ROM becauce activesync would not connect to my phone.
HOW TO FIX
1. Take out memory card
2. Press the d-pad to get back to the tri color screen
3. unplug the USB,wait 5 secs and plug back in.
4. As soon as the Activesync arrows start spinning go aheah and start the flash. (You have to flash from the computer, get a ROM and load it up and Start flashing. It will recognize your phone)

I dont know how many people this happend to but it happened to me but now my phone is fine.!!!!

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

you can just put a new rom on the sd card using a card reader and flash by pulling the battery on the phone. most people that use this method cant ever get the flash to work on the computer.

how will I know if the phone is relocked?

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

remove/rename the nbh from the sd card then enter bootloader if you see the word cmonex your still unlocked if you just see 0000 were cmonex used to be your good.

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

Oh boy! Looks like I pulled a stupid and downloaded the wrong phone version of the rom I wanted. Sorry about that. It should work now.

I have a TP that is already unlocked using the hard-SPL (it's 0.37), but I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit.

I am unable to use the ROMUpdateUtility.exe that's included with several of the roms out there, because it will get to 1% and the phone resets and the updater gives me an error.

In summary:

1. My phone is already unlocked using the Hard-SPL method
2. In order to flash a rom from the microsd card do I have to do anything else besides rename the RUU_signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh and put it in the root of my storage card? (and obviously get it into bootloader mode).

I did this just this morning and whenever I got it to the tricolor screen, it would not detect the nbh file and it didn't try to load it. This in spite of having reformatted the microsd in fat 32, and making sure the file is exactly: RAPHIMG.nbh

Thanks. (For your info, i'm trying to flash MightyRom 6.0)

usually when it doesn't find the file that means one of a few things.

the sd card is not formatted correctly (may be fat instead of fat 32 or used a non standard means of formatting it) try using nue storage to format it. sometimes it is really fat 32 just something about the format is not right for the SPL.

the file is not renamed properly. the stock rom loves to use its intelesense to rename the nbh file to RALPHIMG.nbh when I tried to make it RAPHIMG.nbh also if you renamed it using your phone WM hides extensions so if you see RAPHIMG.nbh using the file explorer you probably named it RAPHIMG.nbh.nbh

or similarly to this, if you have encryption activated all files now have .menc after them on your sd card leading back to them not being named properly.

lastly MANY people actually make a folder named root and put the file in there, root of any directory/drive/device is just the base level of the directory. in this case /storage card/RAPHIMG.nbh

First off, let me say thanks for this! It is fantastic, and worked for me but I did hit an un-bootable cycle. I think you may be getting people hitting this accidentally do to the instructions not being 100% step-by-step. Here are some places you may want to edit:

(I think some have hit the unbootable cycle by softreseting too soon at this point sometimes it hangs for a couple minutes while the bar is full but make sure it says complete before you soft reset) You can verify by holding power and vol down while pressing soft reset. It should say cmonex if you unlocked properly.

On my Sprint TP, it automatically reset at this point. Not really a big deal, but it was different than I expected.

If you have a file named RAPHIMG.nbh on your sd card this screen will only flash briefly and then give you a message that says press power to flash. Now, lets soft reset our phones at this point to start the prep for flashing your phone.

Here's where I think a lot of the "no's" in the poll may be coming from. This should be edited to tell people to remove the RAPHIMG.nbh they used to unlock the phone before holding down power/volume. Holding power too long will auto-reflash the nbh, and caused my failure.

You also may want to update this to say: 'Once you see "Update Complete, UPDATE SUCCESS," and not before, you can soft reset using the reset button on the bottom of the phone.'

Thanks again!

can you flash from sd card if your phone is already unlocked? do u have to re-lock your phone then unlock the phone with the sd card for this to work?

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

unlocked is unlocked doesn't matter how the unlock happened.

Im having trouble with the SD card procedure. My phone simply displays a loading screen upon following the given instructions. Might anyone know what I am trying to explain? And in turn have a solution.

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

my guess is you need to re-format your sd card (but backup first!)

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

I got a question, now when i flash my phone and upgrade to 6.5, do I have to call into sprint to get my phone back on the service or does the informtion carry over from the stock rom? I'm a noob @ flashing and since I've been having sooo many problems with my treo pro and been hearing people are having better luck with win 6.5 I figured i'll give it a try, so if anyone can give me some feed back regarding service setup and my question, it would make the holidays much more festive....

cornelious2 11-23-2009 07:28 PM

Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!

you don't have to call sprint for anything and I reccommend not telling sprint anything you are custom with, but this is the touch pro forum not treo pro, most of the concepts should carry over, but don't go flashing the wrong rom for the phone type!

I followed up with Juggalo_X there is no stock shipped rom, so I would recommend against relocking.

Oh Crap lol, so sending it back to telus for warrenty is a no go?
Thanks for the update

And I have already run the RElocker so I might be bricked because I think I need a signed ROM to move forward

try the sprint stock rom, if that doesn't let you contunue and re-unlock you will need to find a computer to flash from

I have tried the sprint rom and no go, it says invalid carrier. I think it is because I have the telus radio. What do you mean "you will need to find a computer to flash from". I have a computer but have not been able to do anything more through usb that I can do with SD.
I really appreciate all the help your giving me

It starts the Unlocker upload but freezes at 0%. Same thing it does when I try and upload the unsigned ROM or any ROM for that matter. One thing that has occured to me is that my battery might be below 50% althought I does get past the 50% battery warning which it has never done before with out having enough charge, but I have no way of knowing because I cant get past the bootloader. Also Im quite sure its not charging if I plug it in.

no problem, when you send it in say something like you hard reset your phone to clear personal data off it and then it gave you the "weird multi color screen and some error".

It doesn't let me flash any rom not even the sprint rom, as soon as I turn on the phone and have the memory card in it says loading...

you will need to put the stock sprint rom (shipped not dumped) on the sd card using a card reader. that should work, it worked for me on a few peoples phones. if not, youll need to flash the stock sprint rom from a pc (pull the sd card out first before you do that.)
