Re: Best Radio for Sprint

I switched to the Telus Radio and almost instantly noticed a difference. I was running the Sprint 1.11 Radio this morning and in 3 hours my battery dropped from 100% to 64% without doing anything. I didn't make a single call, send a text, nothing. After switching to the Telus Radio, I am now at 46% after almost 7 hours and that is with around 20 text messages and a couple short phone calls.

I haven't noticed a difference in signal strength yet, seems to be about the same as the Sprint Radio.

Re: Best Radio for Sprint

I have used both the 1.11.00F & the Telus.

They both work fine for me, I really can't decide which one has any advantage over the other.

Re: Best Radio for Sprint

I'm with Jmorton. I tried the Telus and now use the 1.11 Sprint one. They both seem the same to me but regardless much better than stock. My phone used to feel hot all the time , that is now gone and my battery life is much improved. I would say you can't go wrong with either but area must play a role. I'm in the Northeast US so we have tons of towers anyway.

Re: Best Radio for Sprint

I ran the Telus radio for a week and while I would say the signal may be a tick better, it would fluctuate more. However, the big kicker for me was, when leaving slingplayer, it would sometimes kick me into 1X mode and only a soft reset or turning data off/on would clear it.

So I went with the Sprint 1.11 radio and it has been great. No 1X issues and the signal definitely holds steadier for me, where I am.

Re: Best Radio for Sprint

I tried sprint 1.11 radio for a week, and thoght it was great. Tried the telus radio just for comparison purposes, and its even better. Consistently getting full up bars everywhere, super battery life, and nice data speeds. Weird thing was, at first with the telus radio, the bars would go from 1 to 3 to 4 to 1 etc... all while sitting in the same spot. that has stopped, which im not sure why that is, but im not complaining.
On a side note regarding radios, if i do a backup with the telus radio, switch to the sprint 1.11 radio, then do a restore, which radio would i have after? still the sprint, or the backed up telus radio? sorry if thats a silly question, but i really dont know. Thx guys,
dschoenike

Unless you flash a rom that has a radio included, such as the stock sprint rom.

Re: Best Radio for Sprint

I'm on the Sprint 1.11 Radio. WOW, what a difference a radio makes in battery/heat on this TP. I can actually pick up my phone now and it's cool to the touch. Everything seems to be working (using it for several days) with the exception that the data arrows (next to the EV icon on top) never grey out, although I suspect the phone is sleeping the connection and not showing it. Other than that little nit to pick, not a regret in the world for upgrading.
