Re: *21 Feb* UPD 15: SSK 1.5M *8* OS Kitchen inc WM6.5 Build 21159 and OS 21015 ROM -

Ok Guys, I have a question. ActiveSync does not work. I do know how to flash from the SD card. The USB connection is also working if I enter Bootloader with the cable attached.

If I wanted to flash (without ActiveSync) from the PC...where do I put the nhb file so the Bootloader will see it? In the root directory of C:, or someplace else.

Thanks.

Can't happen w/o AS; SD only other option.

Thanks, but I'm a little surprised. I would have thought that if it was placed in the root of the drive, it would act just like flashing from the SD card.

WM knows nothing about communication to your PC w/o AS, so the Bootloader can't receive messages from the PC to do anything with the ROM image. The reverse is not true-- your PC can see your WM device w/o AS, via USB drivers, but it only sees the SD card as a removable disk so to speak, same as an ordinary thumb-drive. The WM root, however, remains masked w/o AS to provide duplex communication to the PC via USB drivers.

Me still soo surprise people flash using activesync i get funny inside. Sd card method is they way to go and yes the root is where you put the file Raphimg.nbh. The best part is i have five different roms from ssk in my sd card ofcourse renamed like sskRAR or sskB2B you get it until i need to use it. But if your not happy with one in the middle of the day you can switch when your not home. Activesync=

My experience has been that you HAVE to create a partnership with the phone through ActiveSync. You can not just connect the phone without creating the partnership and get it to do the upgrade.

As long as I have been using WM phones, I never created partnerships after Exchange 2003 because I could sync everything over the air (including setup) without ever touching a computer. But since I've started flashing, I've noticed it's a requirement.

Maybe you're making the same mistake I did?

I haven't had that experience with my flashing. I have flashed on three different PC's without creating the partnership since I am also backing up OTA. I have only run into an issue once and a reboot of the PC fixed the issue.

I'm on Vista64. I can see the phone but unless I create a partnership the tools fail. What OS and AS version are you using?

That would explain it. I am using XP with AS 4.5.

I am using Vista and WMDC, and I almost lways pick the option "Connect device without creating a partnership" and I flash just fine.
